Prepare to cry edition.
Viable? Sure. But my point is that strength builds inevitable get locked into slow, heavy combat because STR weapons are all slow and weigh tons and tons. Dex builds get way more choice, not to mention they don't have to invest in 40+ DEX the way STR builds have to. So, to sum it up, dex builds have: -lower level costs -more gear choice -more mobility -more DPS the only thing STR builds have over that is more poise damage and more damage per strike.
Dead angles, not many dex weapons can do that besides BSS or Great Scythe. You should be more concerned about move sets than dps, because whos going to let you just apply damage to them. Dex weapons are easier to block anyway. Also claymore. Low investment str weapon with one of if not THE best moveset in the game. You should try it.

I found the bonewheel shield it was my first drop from wheel skeletons time to invade in the forest with it
Just finished my first playthrough of Dark Souls today, it has become my favorite game.
Two-handing a weapon increases damage done (except for backstabs, I believe) and lowers strength requirements to wield some weapons effectively.
At what drawback?
no shield
no shield
Additionally, you can't parry while two-handed so your only real defense is rolling or a shitty weapon-block.
No shield, on some weapons the moveset is slower, and the attacks have a bigger stamina drain I think.
Right ok. How bad is that?
Right ok. How bad is that?
no shield is pretty bad
You can switch on and off two handing it at the press of a button, it's really only used for trash enemies (namely ones you can one-hit if you're using both hands) and bosses in their no-danger phases or safe-zones. In PVP, well, you'll see for that.
Right ok. How bad is that?
It's crippling. Generally two-handing is only a good idea on something you can either one-shot, or a boss like the Iron Golem that's fairly easy to dodge. Even then you want a shield out when you aren't about to attack.

Don't know if he's an easy boss or if he's proposing to Iron Tarkus.
Right ok. How bad is that?
You don't need no shield when you are the master ninja flipping dead angling giantdad with +5 chaos zweihander #yolo #swag As long as you have a shield to switch to you should be fine.
Switch between one and two handed depending on the situation.
the hosts will be lining up to have me assist them [t]http://i.imgur.com/2Z90A.jpg[/t] you can't see it but he's only wearing one shoe
the hosts will be lining up to have me assist them you can't see it but he's only wearing one shoe
Put a sack on that head and you might have a chance with this chick I know. Name's Maneater, sounds easy.
theres a /v/ thread with scans from the magazine about dark souls 2, I'll post them in a bit, if someone else doesn't beat me to it. [editline]15th December 2012[/editline] the reason why I'm delaying it is I haven't finished reading them myself, and I have to flip some images
This is the thread for those who wanna dig through the pics, there's only 11 scans and they're easy to spot. Just breezing through them now.
oh someone in the thread already did it nevermind guys http://imgur.com/a/q34ES
"Dark Souls II, by contrast, looks effortlessly ready for the next generation of consoles, on par with the fidelity of, say, Watch Dogs and Star Wars 1313." Good news for us PC players!
Damn, there were some interesting tidbits on one of those pages.
According to Shibuya, the player's ability to parse the meaning behind subtle hints or clues in the game's environment will "determine the difficulty of the game and the challenges that are available for them to experience"

Even though this sequel will be roughly the same size as its predecessor, the world will be more densely populated with specific points of interest.

Though Namco Bandai isn't yet ready to confirm plans for a PC release of Dark Souls II, there was an unmistakably wink-wink quality to how we were told "we're not denying it either." Our demo was also running on a high-end laptop.
Sounds like it could be everything we want. [editline]15th December 2012[/editline] They seem to be putting a lot of emphasis on lighting. Maybe we'll see torches in off-hands for dark areas, or night cycles, what have you. (Though hopefully done to a much better effect than skull lanterns and sunlight maggots in the Tomb of Giants.)
Only read the first page of the EDGE piece and so far, it sounds horrible. Here's hoping it gets better on the next pages. Also the writer sounds like an absolute cock.
According to the magazine the game is only roughly 25 percent done and they've been working on the game since Sept 2011 :(
The character in the trailer is the PC, fair enough. In both Dark and Demons, the knight class was used as the poster boy, Dark Souls even had the Knight class at the end of the opening cutscene despite it knowing what class you picked. As long as this character is still customisable and the other starting armours are as nice, I think there won't be a problem. As for making it more accessible, I think I get what they mean, and I hope it's what I think it is. The Asylum in Dark Souls teaches you the controls, the Burg gets you good at the game. Being able to come up with a better way of players progressing from learning to getting good along with a better initial difficulty curve should slow down the calls of artificial difficulty. Covenants, while if you had the resources you could figure out what they did, made no sense when you were asked to join. Maybe Alvina or Gwyndolin explained it best, but most gave you almost no idea what to do. And having a journal or whatever that keeps track of your dialogue with different NPCs and certain things of note would be cool to help figure out the Lore. A cool mechanic would be if you could write messages, give coordinates or screenshots, and leave long form notes for other players.

They didn't specify whether they would release it for this gen or the next when the question was asked. I'm really hoping it comes out as an early title for the next gen and the graphics can really shine. [editline]16th December 2012[/editline] I can wait for 2014.
While I want this game right god damn now holy shit, I wouldn't be upset about a 2014 release.
If that's what it takes for a game with an equal or greater level of quality as Dark Souls, then I'm happy to wait - it could be a next generation game if it's going to take that long.
