Some people aren't godlike at video games
Sen's Fortress isn't as hard as people make it out to be.
Actually it is because it's the first area in the game where every enemy is bigger than the player! If you still don't have parrying and backstabbing down it can be a big challenge because the snakemen have a lot of health and physical resistance. That, coupled with a lack of direction at a few points, makes it difficult in general even if the traps are mostly easy to avoid!
I wanted to fight with Zipfile but GFWL didn't let us. Damn.

my depth perception was really fucked in that level
I had a really hard time
The skull lantern never drops for me. I've gone through the catacombs with 6 different characters now, each with 410 item finding, and none of the necromancers drop it. I really don't want to go all the way to Lost Izalith to get the maggot.
it's also a transition level. it's short, but it's teaching you situational/environment awareness.
People don't seem to get that the game's pacing is pretty much perfect. Firelink to Parish is basic combat, Gargoyles is situational awareness, Capra is more of a "fuck you" type thing, but does teach you the importance of the high ground and "geographical", I guess, awareness. Quelaag teaches (or reinforces, I suppose) the importance of reading attacks and getting the fuck out of the way. Everything up to that point, you can pretty much shield through.
Sen's is environmental hazards and large enemies (which describes anor londo perfectly, really).
culminating with S&O, which teaches you to...take a beating, i guess.

Just spook your way to the ToTG bonfire, let patches kick you and get lantern.
but slayer, i dont have basic hand eye coordination, it's impossible
In my experience, it wasn't the traps that made it hard, it was the Serpent Men, those fucks are a pain in the ass if you're a sorcerer like my first character was.
Then I later made a more melee oriented character and breezed through most of it like it was nothing.

I lose all sense of direction when I go in there dark. Spent about half an hour trying to figure out where I was going. Might have to look up a video of the general direction I need to go.

Surely you've run there before?
Been thinking of getting this. How does it play on PC?
Surely you've run there before?
I've only ever beaten the game with 2 characters, and that was a while ago so my memory of the place is not that good.
Been thinking of getting this. How does it play on PC?
it plays good but you should download the DSfix to fix the port related problems
How necessary is a Xbox controller?
How necessary is a Xbox controller?
There's a mod that fixes the mouse control issues and the game works well with that, but the controller can feel more comfortable to play with.
How necessary is a Xbox controller?
I'm playing with it and feels great, while I can't play on a keyboard. So I'd say it's really necessary.
I'm mad. I had this game on the xbox, just got it on PC, and apparently it doesn't work. Most likley due to windows and and windows live or something. Anyone have any Ideas on how to get it to work?

Gonna need more than "it doesn't work" to go on.

Well, all I know at the moment, is that once I start it up. It goes windowed and says it has stopped responding. I researched abit and only got that it has issues with windows 8 and windows live. Is there anyway I can get the crash report? Also I get a black screen.

Try this if you haven't already.

If that doesn't work, two people I know on Win 8 said that simply verifying the game cache fixed the problems for them.

Unfortunetly, I've tried that from what the link says. Let me try cache.

nope
I run windows 8 and have zero problems that I can link to the OS, so I can't help with that. I do occasionally have issues with crashes, but verifying game files/restarting the computer/just waiting a while usually fixes it.

I think this one has two different fixes that might work.

-snip- got it all to work perfectly.

Oh I searched for a long while for a fix for the problem, and the steam forum thing worked for me.
No idea what might be the problem for you.
Did you uninstall windows live properly before you reinstalled it?
Got to to work, forgot compatibility mode. Now I have one last issue. It's windowed and wont fullscreen. Even though thats not the setting. Sorry for bothering you all
If you have the DSFix, windowed mode might be turned on in the files.
If you have the DSFix, windowed mode might be turned on in the files.
Nah I just did alt enter. Full screened it. It's just crying about how I'm not signed into live. Which I'm going to do. If I can figure it out since I'm stupid.
So this game is pretty much "High risk High reward: The game"?
Any Idea why it isn't noticing me sign into windows live? I am signed in launch the game and it says i'm not. I click on live on the menu and it does nothing but the selection sound.
