How to you confuse grabs and backstabs?
I was thinking of the way it was executed, like how the game "grabs" you and holds you in place for the animation. I've noticed sometimes that I've exited a backstab and the person just falls down and takes no damage.
the one I've had to escape from most often is Gaping Dragon's grab attack, you can get out of that one while losing only a tiny chunk of health if you do it right
played nearly 200 hours never knew this!
No wonder, I was always confused why everyone hated the slime and Ent grabs. The first time a Slime fell on my head I knocked it off and it only took about a third of my health. Meanwhile, every wiki and post about slimes said 'AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE: THEY WILL KILL YOU IN ONE HIT.' But seriously, none of them ever mashed buttons in frustration? Weird.
I found on that on by myself somehow. I remember I got grabbed by Gaping Dragon and I decided to jokingly pretend that I got grabbed by a Rathian from MH, so I mashed all the buttons. Then I found that it actually did something
i've never fought the gaping dragon i've always skipped him, i don't even know what blight town even looks like aside from the small chunk of it you go through when you use the valley of the drakes entrance to skip it i REALLY hate sewer/dark areas i don't even do the depths either, i get the large ember and dip out of there because FUCK that place
Way to skip game content not that those areas are amazing but come on, I enjoyed the Gaping Dragon fight
he's a big pushover with too much health that you can beat without getting hurt once, only really worth fighting if you want his axe for PvP shenanigans
I think he means backstabs, but I'm not too sure.
have any of you people even played the game
Is Quelaag weak against lightning?
have any of you people even played the game
no, never even heard of Dark Souls. But yeah, I'm stupid so ignore everything else I say from now on. By the way, does the Cloranthy Ring stack with the Grass Crest Shield?
I dunno if I'm late or not, but DSfix was updated
I dunno if I'm late or not, but DSfix was updated
Aye but seems to have added some new bugs for me - Hud bugs + exit to menu crashes. Everything else seems to work though.

Anyone else having problems with motionjoy? First it BSODS twice, then it decided to disconnect my controller in the middle of a boss fight I was winning, I could only watch in horror as he got back up and slowly pummeled me to death. Fun game though.

Fun game though.
if you tried to use your controller to play the instant after you installed the drivers, yeah it's going to BSOD. you gotta restart your system after installing the drivers or else you'll get fucked
he's a big pushover with too much health that you can beat without getting hurt once, only really worth fighting if you want his axe for PvP shenanigans
You should still fight him on your first playthrough, though.

Currently waiting by the Blighttown bonfire for someone to find my gravelord sign. Are there any better places to go? I already killed the bosses in the Burg and the Parish :/ Edit: Got invaded by a black phantom and a spirit of vengeance simultaneously. The black phantom just watched as the two of us duked it out. After I won, he cheered, then proceeded to slaughter me. I love people who play this game so much.
Get all the way to Quelaag on my no shield ironman run. She has less than 1/4th left and I end up rolling into some of her lava which one-hits me. God damnit.

I'd put it near Quelaag or move to Anor Londo but not like it really matters. The level limits for gravelording are also strange and no-ones ever tested it. I'd keep it up, but maybe move somewhere else later on.

Huh. I beat Demon's Souls in 15 hours. Expected it to be longer than that.
Huh. I beat Demon's Souls in 15 hours. Expected it to be longer than that.
dude i beat metal gear solid 3 in 13 hours and it's fucking LONG
I still haven't beaten Demon's Souls because the Land of Defilement scares me
13 hours is a long time!! [editline]21st December 2012[/editline] goddamnit athlias
I still haven't beaten Demon's Souls because the Land of Defilement scares me
It's not that bad. Except for the end of 5-3 if you want the items. Fucking swamp water that makes it so you can't run or roll, plagues you (Thought toxic was bad? Hah!) and the infinite respawning plague babies will circle and stunlock you.
okay so fuck the anor londo archers i don't have time for their bullshit right now
Okay:
0) Get a shield with great stability. Damage reduction doesn't matter; you might want the Eagle shield. Keep your equip weight below 25% if you can. You'll only need your shield. These steps just make sure you don't get frustrated having to deal with the two sentinels and five imps, and allow you to get to the archer's position in about a minute: 1) Go up the big steps toward the sentinels, but sprint past them to the right and hide in the far corner in the area past the gateway til they turn back. 2) Run right past the three imps on the landing onto the fenced buttress, they're too stupid to follow. Do the same thing for the two at the bottom. 3) Walk up the next buttress to the big pillar and regain your stamina. How to deal with the archers: 6) Sprint up the unfenced buttress, shield up, and don't stop. 7) Get onto the ledge and immediately turn right. Keep the shield up. When the right archer fires, however, do a roll under the arrow. 8) Get close enough that he's almost off the edge and he'll pull out his sword and shield. Keep your shield up and absorb the hits, pressing against him, until he loses footing and falls off. You're gonna have to be good about managing your stamina; whenever he's not about to hit you, drop the shield to regen faster. 10) If he's just not falling, kick him.
It'll take more than one try. Aside from Orn & Smough, though, this is the one part in the game which is the most full of repeated attempts. They don't respawn, so don't worry! Not like you have to go back through there anyway. From the next bonfire you can open the cathedral's main doors.
