I've played this game for 16 hours but still haven't figured out how to upgrade my equipment. How far into the game before you can?
Have you reached Andre the blacksmith yet?

No i have not, is he after the gargoyles or the capra demon?
No i have not, is he after the gargoyles or the capra demon?
He's in a wrecked tower near the church. Down the long path surrounded by trees. You'll hear him working.

You know the arched pathway by 3 hollow soldiers near the church with the huge-ass black knight guy? Through there, down the stairs, below the bonfire. Be warned though, there's a surprise in the basement.
finally got the very large ember in new londo after much procrastination
upgraded my balder side sword to +15 and killed ornstein and smough in like 30 seconds tops
time to invade some bitches in the forest now that i do a bazillion damage aw ye

Thanks! I just ran past the surprise :v:
Don't run past the surprise, face it head on!
Fuck that I only do like 17 damage when I hit it :v:
So did I when I fought it, I just kept hitting him. It took forever haha
yea I dont have the patience for that :v: plus I know ill rage quit for a few days if I take ages getting down to low health then dying
holy shit the bastard sword's moveset is fucking awesome
It's a shame I'll probably never get to experience the BS on this character, since I'm using the BKS currently and by the time it becomes useless there's better alternatives than the BS.

Bastard Sword isn't a bad weapon if you upgrade it to +15 and buff it.

It's weak against lightning if I remember right, if you use gold pine resin your damage should get significan tly higher, and once you beat it once it does not respawn. Remember, slow and steady wins the race.
Manus is the biggest cunt I have ever fought ever.
[editline]24th December 2012[/editline]
He is ultra-aggresive, and really chaotic, making it hard to predict his moves.
I have been having fun with the new content up till now too.
I still think Artorias was harder.

Artorias was easier to predict for me, and I knew when he gave me a little breathing room. I blocked a lot of his attacks though, but was able to roll out of the really fuck-your-shit-up ones. He was difficult, but not annoying, leading to one of the best bosses in the game in my opinion. Manus was a straight up berserker, I needed a Phantom and Sif to help me out with him, while I soloed all the other DLC bosses.

The reason I thought Artorias was hard was the exact same reason I thought Ornstein was hard except on steroids, he can charge all the way over to you from the other side of the room in a few seconds, meaning I very rarely have some space between me and him, and even when I do that doesn't mean i'm safe for shit.
Manus on the other hand is relatively safe as long as you're away from him until he's down at around half health where he begins spamming Dark Magic, which you can just deflect with the Silver Pendant.
Although that one attack where he stretches his arm to like 10 times it's normal length was a pain in the ass.

That arm has no "normal length"
It's a fist connected to his body by god knows what.
/end smartassery
it's a silly toothy spring-loaded fun-fist

Well, the attack where the thing attaching his fist to his body increases in length by a lot allowing him to punch you from halfway across the room then.
Sometimes this entire game feels like some sort of cruel sick joke at my expense. I've developed a Pavlov's Dog type of reaction to long narrow hallways after so many incidences of Black Knights being cleverly placed right around corners where you have no idea they reside there until they leap out and pin you to the wall like a note on a postboard, or people invading me while I'm in a bonfire room and just standing at the only exit making taunting gestures and giving their Demon's Great Axe a few practise swings and even letting me get the first few hits so I can watch my +10 Balder Side Sword bounce off them with a pitiful *donk* and do 2 damage.

A +15 Side Sword is enough to clear the game on it's own. The R2s are incredible.
A +10 is surely enough to kill a silly twink after his iron flesh runs out.
Jeez, Pinwheel was such a pushover. Maybe I got to his area a bit late in the game, which explains why I took him down in about 10 hits. I expected a bit more from the guy who made those god damn mask.
I find that the pinwheel servants you find just before Nito's boss room are more of a threat than pinwheel himself.
Because they actually decide to attack you.

He's a scholar, not a fighter.

I feel like this is going to start shit up but
'etiquette'
that's all I'm going to say

Nice build yo
So after not playing for ages because I couldn't be bothered to continue the fresh save I had to make because I lost my save for the second time, I decided to play today.
Managed to kill the Capra Demon, get the large ember, +9 my Baller Swag Sword, and kill Quelaag before I got bored. Productive day.
I know you guys get a lot of questions about O&S, but is SL 46 too low to be fighting them? My +10 Uchigatana does decent damage but I'm wondering if a little soul farming would be more beneficial than just continuously summoning Solaire and throwing myself at them.

45 is the average for S&O. Your +10 should do fine, but if your having trouble, try letting solaire solo slim while you distract fatty. Super fatty is pretty easy, his moves are easy to predict and there is a gap between his hammer and belly that is a dead spot for his weapon hitbox.
