Resistance is never important ever so don't even touch it, and Endurance and Vitality are your health and stamina so they are always important whether you level strength or dexterity depends on what kind of weapons you prefer to use theif is a really tough class to start out as, you might want to start again as Warrior or Knight or Pyromancer
Oh i already killed the boss on the bridge, im not sure about some stats, like am i going to need faith in the future and attunement and what about int assuming there are magical swords later on that may need it?
I got invaded for the first time in the depths during my first playthrough, against a guy who looked like he had some fancy stuff (armor of thorns i think?) while all i had was some balder armor, i backstabbed him but then i got cursed by those huge eye dudes. i thought the stuff they were spewing was poison so i didn't pay it any attention, and now im in the new londo ruins trying to find the healer dude while getting demolished by ghosts. damn you, armor of thorns dude.
That was an NPC. Also, you can buy a Purging Stone from the Undead Merchant in the aqueduct shortcut from Firelink to the Depths.
Were the Black Knights human before Gywn linked the fire?
All of the Black Knights were originally Silver Knights, and we can't be sure if they were human or not. Some Silver Knights were turned into Black Knights when they went to war against the chaos demons. Their armor has been charred black by the fires from the chaos demons.
Ok whats the easiest way to farm the ghosts down there... I hate buying this thing for 4000 souls just to kill some ghosts... I simply want that jagged ghost blade.
If you get through the level, Ingward moves to Firelink and sells them for 1000 souls. Plus by the time you get to New Londo, 4000 souls shouldn't be much. It's not you don't get the same number of souls back easily just by killing a few Darkwraiths.
Anyone have any tips for dealing with the lock-on target system? If there is more than one enemy coming at me I always run the risk of accidentally targeting the wrong one (or one that's completely out of the fight) and getting sliced to ribbons. I may have been panicking, but it once switched back and forth from the same 2 enemies about 8 consecutive times while they slowly crept up and wailed on me.
are you using mouse without the mouse fix? if yes, download dsfix and the mousefix. if it keeps happening, get a controller. if you have a controller already, stop spazzing out with the right thumbstick jeez
Oh i already killed the boss on the bridge, im not sure about some stats, like am i going to need faith in the future and attunement and what about int assuming there are magical swords later on that may need it?
you'll never need faith to complete the game, unless you decide you want to use miracles. attunement only determines how many slots for spells you get, and you'll only get magical weapons if you specifically have a blacksmith make one for you basically, it may seem like a good idea to spread out your stats, but it will only end up with your character being nonspecialized and weak
What about astora's straight sword it says i need 14 faith yay or nay? I pretty much only use my dagger to back stab atm
Astora's Straight Sword is best described by it's acronym.
It's not terrible as a starting weapon for a cleric, but it's outclassed incredibly quickly.
Astora's Straight Sword is best described by it's acronym.
(ASS, for those who can't see it. It's bloody awful.) There are plenty of OP weapons you can get at the start of the game; but what you SHOULD use is what you're good with. If you're good with a shortsword, use that. If you're good with the Reinforced Club, use that. Even if you're incredible with a dagger and you want to use the drake sword, you'd be better off using the dagger.

Takes 24 STR and 10 Dex, so it isn't that far of a stretch if you start as a Bandit.

Fucking Channelers. Also, someone should leave messages like "Jump off here" around the Crystal Cave :v:
Explain? I googled 1.08 and I can't find anything, one of the links on the first page led me to the Ps3 CoD forums and I was reading CoD patch notes without realizing and was confused when it mentioned airdrops :v:
it's a joke that comes around every now and then
»Each titanite demon in the lower area of Sen’s Fortress has been replaced by 30 wheel skeletons, for a total of 120. »Wheel skeletons have been added to the ramps in Anor Londo »fixed the capra demon fight to replace the capra demon with 50 wheel skeletons. »Added 5 Wheel Skeletons to the fight against pinwheel »Added 5 Wheel Skeletons to every boss fight in the game »All regular enemies have a Wheel Skeleton as backup »if you defeat ornstein and smough at the same time, you fight a giant wheel skeleton »When beating Ornstein or Smough first, they will power up into a giant wheel skeleton and their weapon with turn into a giant wheel skeleton »Wheel Skeletons can now perform the “WELL WHAT IS IT” gesture »Fixed issue with wheel skeleton racing mini game where players could equip shields »Issue fixed with wheel skeletons not being able to equip their zweihanders
So i've wondered, what DOES happen if you kill O and S and the exact same time?
So i've wondered, what DOES happen if you kill O and S and the exact same time?
impossibru
yes try fighting them on your own, and then look up strategies after you've beaten them for next time; you might find you were doing it right all along
The only problem I have with the game is that you are pretty much expected to go certain areas and use certain keys without any explanation at all. While its nice to have that for the most part, in other areas it's completely not obvious and actually really really bad to go the logical route. I.E. after you ring the first bell on the tower there is pretty much zero way of knowing that "Okay, you know that random obscure locked door that you might not have even known was there at the begninning of the bridge with the dragon? Go through there next to continue, because you probably found a random key in a totally different area that opens that door." Now this wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for the fact that the guy literally tells you the 2nd bell is down into blighttown, which means logically the player's next choice would be to go immediately down under firelink into new londo ruins, which is literally asking to get ass-raped and get yourself trapped far far into a zone that is way above where you should be at. I mean I get that you aren't really supposed to just straight shot through the narrative or anything, but there's a very clear progression of where you are supposed to go at certain soul/equipment levels, and sometimes the next area to be in isn't really all that near where you are at or where you'd expect to go. It's one thing that I'm glad they are aiming to clear up in the sequel. But it also worries me because it's a very fine balance. if its super obvious where to go then it would ruin it. Like for when you first arrive in firelink shrine after talking to the guy right next to you, that's a perfect thing. It's easy to end up going up the stairs because it looks more forgiving and less scary, you don't have to commit 2-3 hours into and area before you realize you went the wrong/right way, and simply through playing through that area you end up finding routes to get where you'd want to be for you level by naturally playing and exploring.
isnt the description of the key p. telling of where you have to go
Oh dear, i might have gotten someone else from college into Dark Souls. Hopefully he shouldn't go too Hollow.
welcome to Dark Souls!
...Just, how do they come up with these kind of things? I want some of whatever that guy was smoking when he made this.
many words
the description on that key tells you that it opens that door, though. most of the keys tell you what they open
the problem with streamlining it too much is that the appeal of DS is that its so needlessly convoluted that understanding it makes you part of the kkk and that's the kool kids klub
isnt the description of the key p. telling of where you have to go
Keys have descriptions?
Keys have descriptions?
yes every little item has a huge description to it its also where most of the lore comes from
Keys have descriptions?
you can press the delete key to view the descriptions on your stuff, if you're using the keyboard
the problem with streamlining it too much is that the appeal of DS is that its so needlessly convoluted that understanding it makes you part of the kkk and that's the kool kids klub
And even then if you knew the basement key went to the door at the start of the bridge, you'd be backtracking a fair bit to get there when instead you'd logically think the next area to go would be down the elevator right in the church you ring the bell at, back to firelink and then below that, or through darkwater basin (which you probably could do after the bell, but it ends up being a dead end area really). It's just counter intutitive to know that the only area you should be in after the bell is in the lower undead burg, considering the only way to get there is to cut through a bunch of areas you've already been to first, and past a fight you can't possibly win yet (the dragon). Unless the description on the key says "IT GOES TO THE PLACE YOU SHOULD GO NEXT, ON THE DRAGON BRIDGE"
the distance between the church and the bridge isn't far though it's description says: "Opens the narrow passage leading below at the far face of the great bridge in the Undead Burg. The lower Undead Burg is a treacherous place. Do not turn your back on the wily thieves, or the wild dogs who serve the Capra Demon." [editline]30th December 2012[/editline] it really isn't hard to figure out where to go, you just need to pay attention and read stuff
Friend bought this game for me for Christmas, I'm not interested in PvP at all, I'll probably go out and pick up an X360 controller for my PC for this game though. Anybody got advice for someone just starting out? I grasp the basic concepts of the game but so much of it is vague.
