the problem with streamlining it too much is that the appeal of DS is that its so needlessly convoluted that understanding it makes you part of the kkk
and that's the kool kids klub
I disagree. Just by paying attention to the lightest degree and looking at item descriptions you can learn a lot about the game.
That was an NPC.
Also, you can buy a Purging Stone from the Undead Merchant in the aqueduct shortcut from Firelink to the Depths.
where's a good place to farm souls at that wouldn't destroy me, seeing as i'm cursed?

Making runs through the Undead Parish will net you ~1000 souls per run.
Oh god, I just helped a first time player beat Biggie and smalls and right after that I message him to "Make sure to find the chest after them" he replies back "Theres a chest behind this big door?"
If only I could see his face.
Does having the steam overlay active prevent co-op connections from working? Just wondering if this is why I can't ever connect to my friend and vice versa

Dark souls has this difficulty of summoning specific players at first but if you are able to summon him successfully at least once you should be good untill you log off.

Ah... well I've tried about 5 times and summoning still failed for him :\
[editline]31st December 2012[/editline]
Is the level limit for summons just 10%?
I'm level 25, friend is level 20. Surely if I was too high level I wouldn't see his sign at all right?
Oh man, Sen's Fortress is incredibly intense. I don't think any other game has made me feel this way, massive adrenaline rush trying to stay alive and keep all of these souls. Made it to the roof bonfire, going to attempt the boss soon.
Or rather, if my friends has texture mods enabled in his dsfix woudl that prevent summoning if I don't as well?

It's 10 levels + 10%

That wouldn't affect it at all.
You know something, I think From actually nerfed Dark Magic. I've ran into a few people using pursuers recently and it did nowhere near as much damage as expected. Just got a Japanese invader who cast it and even though I signed out of GFWL as soon as they started casting, I took a few hits and it did nowhere near as much as expected.
Anyone with a Dark Magic build wanna test it out? It might be my current build but it sure seems as if the most recent update actually did something.
I'm not interested in PvP at all, .
This will change when you've beat the game a time or two. Or you try PvP.
I started out thinking it'd be bad and now here I am (well, used to. Been playing other games as of late.) doing nothing but PvP. It's a ton of fun.

Yeah apart from The Walking Dead, this is one of the few games that has made my heart jump faster.

I'm pretty sure fighting Ornstein and Smough, solo was one of the most exhilarating things I've ever done in a game.

The only thing that can prevent you summoning one another is distance or levels.
Just a tip: add each other on GFWL, then click each other in friends list and submit a player review saying to "Prefer this player".
Pretty sure that makes you at least more likely to see each others signs if you both do it.
Also double check your NAT is 'open' / UPnP is "Enabled, In Use" (not just 'enabled')

My SL1 run was INTENSE.
And the best part about that is that that's how it is every time, because I'm a real man and I have my red tearstone on 24/7.

I just don't get it because we can be summoned or summon other players just fine but it never works for each other. I'll try the gfwl thing but I doubt it'll work

pfffchahaheheheh you call yourself a man
red tearstone
my SL1 run involved Calamity Ring and that one other ring that does jack shit. Old Witch's I think.
I had multiple death wishes back when I did that.

The multiplayer in Dark Souls is just buggy as shit. I hope it's not as bad in Dark Souls II.
Many an hour was spent in the forest with my boyfriend using RP builds and fucking with people. My favorite, after all of that, is still doing O&S. I'd love to do it but about two weeks ago it just stopped working for both of us; I didn't see any signs at all, orange, red, or white soapstones. He could never summon me.
Until someone finally makes a CE table work with Dark Souls again I probably won't be able to do any PvP RP builds as my gamertag has changed since and I lost all the saves.

Opening the ports did help for a while though. At one point I'd be actively invaded (not just fog doors, actually spirit of vengeance / park ranger / darkwraith) more than I didn't have a phantom in my world.

Am I a bad person for doing this?
I don't see how blocking with your weapon makes you a bad person
I mean if you're doing it 2h weapons then I'd say roll instead of block but whatever floats your boat
Don't put messages infront of shit. It's not even clever trolling, it's just annoying.

"Beanpole may refer to:
An upright structure to support plants, such as a trellis
The main character of Australian TV personality Dick McCann
A nickname used to mean someone skinny
A level in Domino Knocker
