I think when he says "fuck the dark knight in the parish" he means the one IN The church
that you can't avoid fighting
Although he's not a Black Knight his armor is still black and he is a knight so it's an easy mistake.
No I mean the black knight in the tower above the rats
So near this part, am I supposed to fight the armored boar? Is this game just wandering aimlessly killing shit or is there some sort of quest?
you have to ring the bells
the narration in the intro video felt like the teaser for Blood Ocean
So I was streaming Dark Souls last night, because I want people to laugh at how horribad I am at video games.
This was probably the only worth while thing to come out of an hour and a half of streaming:

the one in burg gave me a sweet ring
All he drops is a titanite chunk and a chance and his greatsword/shield.

And the sense of accomplishment!

Thanks, now I gotta find em.

you have to listen to the crestfallen warrior
he tells you the locations
I don't really understand why many people have no clue what to do in this game. Sure, I understand if you don't know where to go, but the goals are always pretty clear, you just need to explore and understand what the few NPCs tell you.
After glimpsing a random ghost walking past me, I want to do the same for a challenge run. DUAL CROSSBOW ONLY.

I have some trouble catching up with the game after sleeping sometimes, especially since there's no journal and the NPCs don't always repeat their lines.
so listen carefully when people talk to you like your parents taught you to

Shit, crossbows don't scale, do they? I wonder how hard it'll be.
I fought Quelaag and while I was fighting her the music that was playing had something that made me think dogs were barking, somehow.
So I ran downstairs afterwards and told my dogs to shut up, but they weren't there.
They were upstairs in my parents bedroom, with my parents. :v:
I still beat the fucker.

I rang the first bell and now I don't know where to go
maybe if the crestfallen warrior wasn't such a dick
Anybody have an SL1 available for help with O&S?
Seriously those guys are pissing me off.
I have an SL10 and will help you if you still need it.

read your key descriptions and figure it out, sucka

I think if the game acually made stuff like the importance of item/key descriptions apparent (and how to actually do them, because I had no idea you could view discriptions of items until several hours in), and the importance to talking to friendly NPC's apparent then people would have a much better idea of what to do
I.E. you won't know about ringing the two bells unless you talk to crestfallen warrior and actually listen to what he says (NPC's are easy to dismiss in a game that comes off at first as a dungeon crawler), you won't know where to go next unless you actually read descriptions of keys and items and souls and such, etc.
I went to the tower where havel should be and he wasn't there. What the fuck. I want his shit. How do I fix this.

He doesn't drop his armor, if you're looking for his ring then, well...
I've forged a Cursed Greatsword of Artorias to fight the ghosts with.
Is it worth upgrading, or just a one-time use gimmick?
you might as well just use transient curses and whatever weapon you usually use
Now I have no humanity and therefore can't go into human form to summon the sun bro to fight the gargoyles.
Why the fuck did I waste money on a game I knew would make me fucking rage?

You're better off just using Transient Curses since they're pretty plentiful and you can actually block the ghosts' attacks.
why would you use every single one of your humanity items and put them all at risk?
honestly the gargoyles were hella easy, just keep trying at it
worse comes to worse you could use one of them gold pine resins i guess
why would you use every single one of your humanity items and put them all at risk?
The only time (I'm new, so maybe I'm wrong) that I've ever needed them is:
1) Help with boss fights.
2) Kindling.
3) Inviting Invasions
3a) NPC Invasions are totally fine and drop great gear.
3b) PVP Invasions have all gone terrible for me. Usually someone spamming magic/block and trying to get one hit kills. Fuck 'em all. :v:

I had a real shitty time with them at first. The real trick is either use Solitare - or try to take out the first ASAP as the second one is on a timer.
