demon firesage was easy as fuck imo.
I just had a maxed out shotel and I used the fuck out of that
Finally managed to cut Kalameets tail off and then kicked his ass.
So uh, is there any purpose for the Calamity Ring you get? I thought Gough might want it for some reason, but no. :v:
I really love the longswords moveset and such for mobs/general enemies or PvP (though with pvp for me so far its best for battles of attrition where nobody can get a good blow in, easier to do with a quicker weapon).
But things that aren't massive heavy hitting weapons just suckkkkkk against bosses or big fatty/armored dudes (like titans). Was watching a video of a guy just using a flame zweihander and killing smaugh in literally 6-8 hits or so (500-600 damage each) while at best I could do 100/300 damage each depending on the weapon.
Don't know why, but that little bit of extra sluggishness on the zweihander (compared to the bastard or claymore) made it completely unusable for me. The delay (literally) killed me.

Ugh
Ugh so sad
Just learned the sunlight sword miracle can only be gotten if you sin against darkmoon and be indicted forever
I can either just be sad and go without it for the rest of the game, or accept my fate and be able to uberboost my weapon at any point, at the sacrifice of losing my whole "holy cleric knight" motief as well as be constantly invaded by darkmoon I imagine
EDIT: and also losing access to the bonfire at anor londo

Dorkmoon players are terrible.
Also their invading never works.
have you ever tried using the blue eye orb? doesn't fucking work, don't worry about it
Precisely.
Dorkmoons are just workshy Darkwraiths with a sad excuse for a moral compass.
Do I really have to pass those 2 ultra-archers in Anor Londo?
I so don't want to lose my souls again.

Did you open the shortcut almost directly after them? Lets you enter from the front door where the two knights are. When you get to the bonfire, [sp]going up the spiral staircase should let you get to a rooftop area, which goes back down to another spiral staircase. If you follow it down and follow the path forward you should be in a large hall, from there you can open the front door or you can follow the stairs up to the giant and open the smaller side door.[/sp]
there is only one way to find out

(don't forget your ring)
Friend bought me the game, and I just started playing it. Gotta say, Im loving it so far. I dont quite know what it is about this game but i find it fantastic, its just so atmospheric and fun. Im also really enjoying reading other players' messages (as in reading "PRAISE THE SUN" every few minutes). And the combat is pretty fun but parrying seems to be impossible. There are a couple things I dont quite get, such as the retrieval thing. When you pick up the blue thing, what do you get? Your souls back? And if you die a second time does the first one disappear? Also I saw somewhere it said you can do a jump attack but it was Xbox controls so I have no clue how to do that, and I have done a spin attack a couple of times that im also totally clueless about. But seriously though, so fun. Reading this thread just makes it seem better, how much shit I don't even KNOW about yet. I can't wait to get into this.
Also the bosses are fucking awesome. I haven't had that feeling of "Oh my FUCK THAT IS TERRIFYING AND LARGE KILL IT" from a game boss in a long time. I just got to the taurus in Lordran, promptly died. It was actually proving to be surprisingly easy for a second because he was just sort of attacking over me but then he backed off and destroyed me. Which is another thing, I hate accidentally finding an extremely easy and anticlimactic way to beat a boss because it's too stupid. Seriously? Gonna love this game.
And watching undead jump of an edge at me is hilarious.
what should i spend my 40k souls on from sif, remembering i can't level up?
upgrade your toasty longsword maybe?
Do you have a backup plan for the 4kings if the longsword does not work out?
well in that case i would fucking cry myself to sleep because that's all i really have
my plan is to put on full stone armor + wolf ring and whack them to death with the fire longsword
i guess i'm gonna go to the depths to farm green titanite shards off the blob things
i also have a pyromancer's flame but only one attunement slot. what would be the best pyromancy to use against four kings?
Yeah, farming some shards sounds like a good idea.
I think zin posted a guide a page or a few ago on how to deal with all of their attacks.
I generally don't dabble in setting my hand on fire, you'd best find someone who does that kind of thing more regularly.

1. He's really easy to kill.
2. He's a manipulative piece of shit.

Retreival in a nutshell:
1. You die. You lose all your souls and all your humanity in your humanity counter (top left). You don't lose anything in your inventory (as such, souls you find and humanity you find that gets added to your inventory will stay there forever until you use them - in which case it'll add the souls that item is worth to your soul counter or humanity and vice versa. as such its generally a REALLY bad idea to use humanity/souls you get in your inventory as soon as you get it, because you lose it if you die. Use only humanity/souls when you need or want to use it right there).
Also, if you were human, you are now undead again.
2. If you want to get your humanity and souls back, simply go back to where you died and retrieve your bloodstain. You get all your souls and humanity you dropped. You do not become human again however. If you die a second time, your new bloodstain replaces your old one (AKA: you lose all the souls/humanity on the original stain).
3. Being human isn't the same as having humanity. You spend humanity to turn human again at bonfires, and to kindle flames (requires being human, and gives you extra flasks at that bonfire permanently). Having humanity has benefits though. It adds to your curse resistance, and your item discovery (10 humanity is max for item discovery). It also slightly adds to your resistances the more you have. So you get better benefits the higher humanity you have but you also risk more. Generally its a good idea to have at least 1 humanity at all times just because it gives a signifgant bonus to item find and curse resistance from having zero humanity.
4. As far as being human goes, it has only three purposes. You need to be human to kindle flames, you need to be human to summon NPC's or other players to fight (doesn't work though if you've beaten the area boss already), and you need to be human to be invaded by other players or by NPC's (which can be a downside).
5. Ring of sacrifices prevent you from losing souls when you die. If you died previously, use a ring of sacrifice, and died again - your original bloodstain still remains. this makes rings of sacrifice really really useful for when you are in a situation where you died with a TON of souls or humanity on you and you want an extra backup just in case you fail to get back to your bloodstain.
6. Don't sweat loosing a bunch of souls or humanity, it's apart of the game. It sucks yeah but sometimes you just die alot and lose a bunch of stuff for it. this is why its important to stock up on souls in your inventory and not spend them untill you need them. So when you need some quick souls but you don't have any from death, you can always just pop a some Soul of a Brave Warrior or something.
Hey, do I remember wrong or was there a guy in the older thread or this one complaining how Artorias is impossible and he couldn't defeat him even though he cheated all his stats to 99? For some reason my brain decided to remember that.
I won him when I found out you can STOP him from buffing himself up. Before that I usually got him to like 1/4 of health because after that buff his attacks took away all my stamina and like 3/4 of my health and I ran out of Estus Flasks (all 10 of them).
Any tips for a beginner? I'm completely new to the game.
Any tips for a beginner? I'm completely new to the game.
As someone who's only been playing for a day or two total, learn how to parry and riposte, pretty useful being able to drop mobs with weak gear.
Don't be afraid to die, you'll lose souls and stuff but they're a dime a dozen and you'll recover what you need pretty quickly.
Does anyone have any small hints to defeating Seath?
Any tips for a beginner? I'm completely new to the game.
Backstabbing enemies does extra damage. You can't backstab enemies if your shield is raised.
Parrying and riposting are even more effective than backstabbing. Parry when the enemy's hand begins to attack you, not the weapon.
Most inportantly death is not a punishment, it's your main method of learning. You can recover everything you lost if you don't die a second time.
Thanks for the tips. Are there any fixes for the mouse and the frame rate?

Like any other boss die enough times to learn what he does.

Run up to where his body meets one of his leg things, two hand your weapon, pop a curse stone/estus when needed.
Does anyone have any small hints to defeating Seath?
If you get him to smash the crystal he'll be stunned for a few seconds. Ranged attacks are incredibly useful.
I've put nearly 60 hours into my first character to actually get somewhere in the game and I've gotten to a point where I'm afraid of the bosses and I don't wanna go do them so I'm stalling and trying to find more things to do that aren't the last bosses and stuff.
On the bright side I can wear my silver knight armor and be light now, along with flippies
so killing rats is my best bet at getting humanity without pvp?
so killing rats is my best bet at getting humanity without pvp?
Yes
Ideally you'll want 10 humanity (for the maximum drop rate of 210) since its a rare drop and at 10 humanity your item find will be max'd. For even better chances get an item find boosting item, such as the serpent ring from Sen's Fortress, which pretty much doubles your item find (up to a max of 410ish I think?).
You can also place helpful/clever messages around the world, if someone rates it up you get one humanity.
Co-op gets you humanity as well, but it's arguably a longer process depending on what the boss is.
