HUD scaling etc doesn't work for me either. I just used a HUD texture mod that makes it less intrusive anyway.
Is it even worth upgrading the halbred if I have the silver knight spear?
I can't get the HUD scaling in DSFix to work -- it always stays the same. Does anyone know of a workaround or is it simply not working in 2.01? e: also, if anyone could share their SweetFX config, that'd be pretty swell as well.
It works for me just fine. DSFix troubleshooting: 1) Have you disabled ingame AA? [?] 2) Have you set the enableHudMod .ini line to 1? [✓] 3) Are you using a GUI mod to install DSFix, and if so, has it reset your settings, like #2? [?] 4) Check the dskeys.ini file for the HUDmod enable/disable key and press that. [?] Suppose you should also be aware that for me, the HUDmod change key didn't work until remapped to Right Shift.
From Software's dark PlayStation 3 role-playing game Demon's Souls will be released as a downloadable title through the PlayStation Network on Jan. 8, publisher Atlus announced today. To mark the occasion, Atlus says it will hold a Pure White World Tendency event from Jan. 8 to 14. Newcomers will appreciate the World Tendency server setting, which makes the game slightly easier and enables certain in-game events only available in a Pure White environment. The downloadable version of Demon's Souls will be priced at $19.99. Demon's Souls for PS3 was originally scheduled to go offline on May 31, 2012, but Atlus later announced that the role-playing game's online component — crucial to the Demon's Souls experience — would "continue for the foreseeable future." In a comment posted to the PlayStation Blog, Atlus editor Nich Maragos wrote that the game's servers "are up indefinitely at this point, with no planned end date."
Source Kinda happy about this seeing as how I actually want to play Demon's souls before finishing Dark Souls, but didn't know if it was still worth it.
You know, one-handing Smough's hammer isn't that bad after all. It's absolutely wrecking every enemy in one hit with a quick attack. Sure, it's terrible for PvP, but my now five PvP experiences have all been fucking horrible people either going apeshit with katanas or waiting for me to fight enemies and then backstabbing me. :v:
Is it even worth upgrading the halbred if I have the silver knight spear?
No. I found one after O&S, after having used the Halberd for a while, and began to use it for my main reach weapon for the rest of the game. It was invaluable against the Anor Londo imp demons, Giant clams, Oolacile bloatheads, Abyss humanity ghosts, and pretty much anything else I wanted to fight from a distance. The two-hand R1 staggers most enemies. Looking it up, it's got better Dex scaling and the highest reach of spears and polearms next to the Demon Spear. It's got the same moveset as the Halberd, but much higher base damage. Can only be upgraded to +5 but the Halberd needs to get to +13 standard to surpass its full damage. Yeah, use the spear. No wonder I liked it so much.
Alright thanks. Got the ring. Ooooone last question: How do you tell what stats you need to wield a weapon?
It'll say on the bottom right what stats are required, when you use the "Toggle display" button to switch to weapon stats in the inventory/equip menu. I belive you can get over the strength requirement by two handing the weapon. I.E. if something requires 50 str to use you can two hand it fine if you have at least 25str. Something the game doesn't explain at all is the rating system. Certain weapons scale with certain stats better. I.E. if a weapon has an "A" rating by strength, it means it'll do much more damage the higher your strength is above the minimum required stat. If it's got a "C" rating, then it'll gain moderate increases in damage as you increase your strength. If there is no rating at all or the rating is really bad (i.e. E) then it'll scale really poorly or not at all, meaning no matter how much you increase strength/dex/faith/int/whatever, you'll never be able to improve that weapon beyond the base damage it does without upgrading the weapon itself. Generally weapons with really good scaling are the best mid/late game as your higher level/stats will give you much better damage with such weapons than if you used something like the Drake sword... which has really high base damage (200) but no scaling at all, meaning it sucks hard later on. Sure your attack animation takes several seconds but even if the guy dodges/blocks your first blow, the second blow seems like it comes by surprise every time unless you know it's coming.
where are you supposed to go after ringing the first bell? [editline]8th January 2013[/editline] also are there any weapons worth upgrading early on or should i spend the xp i got from bell gargoyle so i dont lose it

I think I used it to beat the Gargoyles. But plan on dropping it later once you find a main you wanna stick with. I found it was pointless to use once I got to Blighttown. Also, two-handing drops the strength requirement of a weapon by one-third. So whatever the number, two-handing will cut it to 66% of that. 50 str 1H -> 34 str 2H. 30 str 1H -> 20 str 2H.

what about the area behind the miniboss near the blacksmith?
you can explore that way if you want, it's an open world I'm just letting you know that the way to progression is with that key
So right now I'm maining my zweihander, but soon enough I'll have to go into the catacombs and I'd like a divine weapon. So, agree for divine longsword or disagree for divine shortsword.
If I don't have the faith to wield a divine weapon, does it still do divine damage? I got Leeroy's club right before Nito, and it'd be nice to kill the damn skellies.

Fuck those gargoyles, and fuck the zombies in that church! Can't even do it with Solaire... EDIT: Ok, did it now with a little help from gold pine resin. Anything I should get from Oswald? And I'm not really sure what thise remove absolution and sin removal means, what sins, and is it important?

Zweihander or Claymore, and which path should I upgrade either of them down - I love the zweihander because of the whole stunlock thing and I've already levelled it up to +10 but as I keep playing with it its weaknesses become very apparent - it is really slow. Claymore on the other hand just leaves me kind of underwhelmed with the damage it does compared to the zweihander and I take a lot of damage because it doesn't stun very well. what do
You can get an Occult Club in Anor Londo, and if you just down-grade it you have a Divine Club
Well, I'm not even close yet to anor londo, so I'll just wait before going in the catacombs. Just beat the gaping dragon. I was freaking out when I realized I still had all kinds of junk in my action slots, so when my flask ran out I had to run and wait for him to drool and try to switch in some humanity as quick as possible. I was never so stressed in a game (in a good way).
I wonder what would happen if I use two Smough's Hammer's at once. Is there any in-game bug (not cheat engine) to duplicate items? :V

Sink some twinkling titanite into it and it takes out skeletons in two heavy attacks.
