Can I join the Darkwraith covenant if I talked to Frampt after I got the Lordvessel? I wanted to break up some titanite so I talked to him, he [sp]took me to the underground place but I used a homeward bone to avoid placing the Lordvessel.[/sp] Is it still possible to join or [sp]does Kaathe think that I gave the Lordvessel to Frampt?[/sp]
he's right though
using a guide makes the game a lot less fun and if you consider it, consider investing in a gun to shoot yourself with
It was more of a rhetorical continuation of the joke, and I do agree, Dark Souls would probably be the polar opposite of a game that you play with a guide.
THIRD QUESTION
I don't have Excksbawks Live.
Will that ruin Dark Souls? Should I buy it JUST to play Dark Souls?
[sp]and maybe dabble in some halo[/sp]
it's so much more fun to summon people for co-op, see messages and bloodstains, and fight other players. you should do it, it's half the fun of the game
I think reading a starter guide is good though because the game doesn't explain anything really. like I had no idea that keys have descriptions, which tell where they go, which made finding out what to do after the first bell hard. But yeah avoid guides or walkthroughs. I personally read into the wiki on stuff I've already done when waiting for summons oor invasions because there's alot of good info there that is interesting, and I looked up how to get to the dlc (impossible without a gide really) but tha sabout it.
so I got Demon's Souls and one of the first messages I see is: "Sticky White Stuff" with a couple thousand ratings
wonderful
Demon's Souls message system is so much better than the one in Dark Souls, the servers help immensely and the messages themselves are better.
And people actually rate messages. There's even an actual bonus from having your message rated up! (Yes, I know rating messages supposedly gives humanity)
i'm sorry but if you run up and stab someone who's waving/bowing/praising the sun before a 1v1 with you then you're a massive prick
best starting class is the one that starts with the plank shield and the club
the club is so good, and if you get a decent shield then you're gonna be rolling in the deep.
doing a flat str/endurance build with it right now, nothing can stop me
so i made a ninja character
currently rolling with a +5 lightning iaito that i 2 hand, +5 shadow set, DWGR and ring of fap
i'm chillin in the forest fighting off invaders and i win 95 percent of all duels, and my previous pvp record has not been very impressive so to speak
ninja build = undying victory
holy hell darkwraithing is so much fun
tfw taking advantage of an afk guy and sapping 8 humanity from him so he gets back like "hey what the hell man"

literally one hit from a +15 darksword with sunlight blade and he was stunlocked
Well I started the Depths rather recently and it already feels like unending hell and pain.

One trophy left to get the Platinum trophy on PS3. I just need to craft nine more boss weapons and nab a Dark Hand from New Londo.

The game doesn't tell you where to go? The very first person you see outside the Asylum tells you exactly where to go. He tells you the first bell is in the church though the undead burg, but you need to use the waterway to get there. From there there is literally one route until you get to the church.
Talk to the undead merchant "There's a terrible goat demon down below, and a drake and a bull demon up above."
I swear, people don't bother to read item descriptions and orange messages or talk to people and then they bitch that the game doesn't tell you anything. Maybe if you didn't expect the game to spoon feed you information like a child you'd got somewhere. What do you want? Fucking waypoint markers? A fucking objective at the top of the screen "Ring the Bell of Awakening".
The game tells you everything you need to know if you pay attention.

DeS has an amazing soundtrack in general. I think it's even better than DkS's soundtrack.

Of course the information is there, but the fact that so many people need to ask for help is surely indicative that the game doesn't do a good enough job of explaining itself. For example, many people don't realise that you can speak to people multiple times for more info, or that you can read item descriptions on keys and other items. These things are obvious in hindsight, but for first time player these things aren't immediately apparent. And don't be so condescending - it's not kids complaining, but "hardcore" players, the type that play lots of games and (evidently) read gaming forums. If people like that are getting confused in such numbers, it's not their fault for not immediately understanding, but rather the game's for explaining itself better.

It's not that Dark Souls doesn't present the info well, it's that people are used to games that literally scream it in your ear at every turn and plaster waypoints all over your screen so you never have to think about anything, just go to the shiny white arrow.

I thought those things were immediately apparent, the reason people ask for help is because they can but you can figure out most of the stuff in the game yourself without asking for help

Finally found an armor combination that I like for my archer character. Sorry for Steam raping the quality.
The longbow string ruins it.

Games don't exist in a vacuum. If that's what players expect, you build around that expectation, not simply disregard it. It's not the players fault if that's what they are used to, and the game makes no concession for it. Because ultimately, no matter how much you can blame it on other factors, if players are confused, then the game has failed in it's task to teach the player.
Your assuming the "task to teach the player" is an inherent responsibility of the game, I think this new approach is very refreshing.

It's not the game's fault that other games treat players like they're fucking five. Players shouldn't expect to be babied. They shouldn't play a game infamous for it's difficulty, with the fucking taghline "Prepare to die", and expect to have their hands held.
I played Dead Space earlier today, decided to have a playthrough of both games before Dead Space 3 came out. The game told me 5 fucking times to cut off their limbs, and you should bear in mind that 4 of those times happened after I had already done that multiple times.
Games these days treat players like fucking idiots. Dark Souls respects a players fucking intelligence and then players bitch that the game isn't holding their hand. It's not a problem with Dark Souls it's a problem with the entire industry.
You act as if I'm asking for waypoints on the screen at all times. In reality, these problems could be fixed really simply. For example, somewhere in the tutorial put a message on the floor saying "Read key descriptions to help navigate Lordran". Then when you reach Firelink and talk to the crestfallen warrior, rearrange his dialogue slightly so he says "one's up above in the undead church, which can be reached by the waterway up the stairs". The game is no worse, and then there's no confusion.
Anyway, must you be so negative? The industry isn't shit and the players not idiots becuase they're not as "great" as you are.
Wow, Gaping Dragon is a really easy boss fight.
I was having this discussion with my teacher and games have evolved from giving zero advice and being completely brutal in nature to babysitting you through everything, Dark Souls is, to me, almost the perfect balance between the two, it gives you the necessary tools to make you competent if you follow the game's advice. There are a few things it doesn't do right, but that's okay because making anything is a learning process. Dark Souls reminds me of that time you played a game and you had no internet, so when you talked to somebody about it and they went "oh yeah you do x y or z" it suddenly became so apparent, the soapstones almost do that quite well, but their frequency fluctuates greatly and don't always have the best descriptions.
It's brutal, but a clearer direction in where you're supposed to go next wouldn't go amiss, simple hints that guide you rather than some sometimes quite vague story dialogue.
An example is when I was talking to Salty because I didn't know where to go after killing a certain boss, he said "2spooky" and I thought instantly of the Skellingtons at the start of the game, I don't mean to say write internet themes on soapstones I'm merely saying things like that wouldn't go amiss.
