Rate my character's messed up-ness. The bow is +3 lightning and the all the armor is +5 apart from the sack which is +6. Shield is +8 and the flame's +8. Moving on to uhm, Lost Izalith/Nito/Ruins at this point
Thank you for keeping me company, your character has comparable things to mine, including a non upgraded vitality. Except that mine is arguably worse at the moment, because it has emphasis on keeping unreasonable equal dexterity and strength, instead of having stat points in a useful location such as endurance.
Any reason why you haven't upgrade your vitality at all?
Mainly the reason is that I never do PvP, had to reformat my computer and stuff but then I lost access to my gfwl account so I'm stuck doing PvE so I needn't worry about players. So far I haven't ran into too many issues with bosses ripping me (too much) yet. My bigger issue is just game knowledge as I'm getting lost and stuff but I'd rather not go for walkthroughs.
Vitality is insanely low if you're going for a serious character. Some of those endurance points would have been better spent in vit.

The window for error at 10 vitality is very small, with me currently trying to beat Smough and Ornstein.
just just put ten points in vitality right now kill the sentinels until you've got twenty vit or something because you're not pro enough to dodge everything every single time
With enough repetition, I could probably pull off not getting hit by them once, but having the ability of comfortably getting hit by them (or atleast by Orn) one or two times really does make things easier.
First(!) time fighting Seath, and I remember myself shouting at the screen "Yeah I know this game is suppose to be unforgiving and hard, but this is just bullshit!!" [sp]And then I respawned, in jail[/sp] Oh this game and its tricks.
sen's fortress has arguably the hardest boss in the game
haahaahaha oh wow you're kidding right? please say you're kidding i killed that pussy on my first try without tarkus and without killing the firebomb giant on the tower using the same unupgraded lightning spear I found earlier in the same level just hide between his legs and stab him
My first fight against the Iron Golem consisted of me smacking him a lot and him falling off the side. If he's really too hard for you, just summon tarkus and watch.
I remember when I was making my tarkus build on the ps3 the iron golem kept bitch slapping me off the side of the walkway to my death. I swear I must have replayed that at least 10 times, and every time I died I just couldn't help think of the irony of my build and the boss I had trouble with.
I'm toying with the idea of using this:http://mugenmonkey.com/darksouls/?b=Y2xlcmljLDIwLDEyLDE5LDEyLDI1LDExLDgsMzAsMCw1LDUsNSw1LDMxLDIyLDE0NSw0MCwxMjUsMTA1LG5vcm1hbCxub3JtYWwsbm9ybWFsLGxpZ2h0bmluZywwLDY2LDQ2LDAsMCwwLDAsMCwwLDAsMCwwLDAsOSx3b29kZW4sd29vZGVuLHdvb2Rlbix3b29kZW4sMQ== to invade Anal Rodeo.
I need some advice, should I buy the xbox version or the PC version?
I need some advice, should I buy the xbox version or the PC version?
PC version comes with the DLC, you just need a controller (well, it's recommended) and you need to deal with online problems. I would get the PC version.
Oh god, how do I kill that black knight in the undead burg?
How do I get behind him? I can't roll fast enough :suicide:
I need some advice, should I buy the xbox version or the PC version?
Get the PC version if you can run it. There are some awful framerate issues on the consoles. It's mainly in Blighttown, which is a horrible area (intentionally), and a couple of thing in dark places like the Demon Ruins and dark Anor Londo.
How do I get behind him? I can't roll fast enough :suicide:
When he does some attacks he won't track you, giving you a small window to get behind him. Alternatively, parry him. Black Knights are easy to parry.
Parry the fuck out of them black knights man But yeah they do really slow heavy attacks, and sometimes they just taunt at you or some shit, that'd be when you want to stick it in his back
Do you need a specific shield type to parry? Or am I pressing the wrong button? I tried using Ltrigger but that just makes me shield bash with my shield
nope that's not a shield bash, that's the parry. you just time the parry with their attacks
I wrote a poem Manus You are a big fat cunt. Manus You mum smells of gunk Manus Oh mighty manus fuck you
Can you still do PvP in oolical (or whatever) township once you beat the DLC area? It's a pretty big pvp hotspot would suck to not be able to do anything there anymore once I beat the DLC (at least as far as me getting invaded goes)
it can't be a greatshield though, if it's a greatshield you can't parry with it and you can only shield bash
Good luck having a greatshield by the first BK in Burg though. Though I suppose you could get a bonewheel shield... I must do this.
are shields worth upgrading? what happens when they get upgraded, it doesn't seem like the damage reduction increases
are shields worth upgrading? what happens when they get upgraded, it doesn't seem like the damage reduction increases
Always upgrade your shield. It increases stability, which affects how efficiently it blocks. A shield with a stability of 50 might block an attack, but it will take more stamina than the same attack being blocked by a shield with 60 stability. As far as damage reduction, find a shield with 100% physical damage reduction. A Balder Shield is a good choice, and the Balder Knights in parish can drop them. The Crest and Dragon Crest Shields are easy to get, and while not as stable as a Balder shield they offer higher Magic protection(Crest) and Fire protection(Dragon Crest) while maintaining 100% physical protection.
It always bugged me how there's a ton of really cool shields in the game but they are all basically worthless because they don't give you 100% damage reduction, so there's no reason to ever go for a shield that doesn't give 100% DR. Even if you wanted a small shield the heater shield is pretty much enough to take you through most of the game fully upgraded. The only good non-100% DR shield out there is the grass crest and thats just because it gives you really good stamina regen. I hope in the next game they make it so there's an actual reason to go for the smaller shields or something. I jsut can't see me ever using a shield that doesn't give 100% dr
