rip errand handsome
So I've been playing Dark Souls for the first time for the past few days.
Holy shit Ornstein and Smough are fucking IMPOSSIBLE. At least Ornstein looks fucking badass [sp]and a cutie[/sp] so I can't hate on them too much.
[editline]17th January 2013[/editline]
But probably my worst experience was when I was killed by a Basilisk's curse and lost over 18,000 souls, and I had to run on foot all the way to the church in the Parish to buy a purging stone - only to get one-shotted by some random red orb-looking crab asshole in the church. Never seen that enemy before and he suddenly appears out of nowhere on my way to the roof and I get killed. I swear I thought I was going to punch my screen out of anger.

That was a vagrant, congrats those are rare (level 91 and never ran into one myself)
It's a "rare" (well, I've never experienced it) event in the game where if someone else dies with a TON of souls or if someone just drops a really good item it'll have a chance of spawning a vagrant in another players world wherever you dropped the item or died.

That's a vagrant. They are super rare to see. The red ones can drop some good stuff.
A rare enemy and it happens to be when I'm at half-health and had to trek all the way from the sewers to the church while praying for my dear life not to die. Such wonderful timing. :T

Ohhh, really? I saw one of those a long time ago, back just before fighting the giant boar in the burge. I had no idea what it was and kind of freaked out (I was still new so everything was FIERSOME AND SCARY or something like that) but I killed it p easily. I don't recall it dropping anything amazing, though. I think it actually might have dropped a red eye orb? I don't remember. If it did, I used it and it didn't work and got eaten.
Killed the group of balder knights at the church, got a balder side sword.
I should feel lucky huh? :v:
not really
the sword is like lego pieces whereas it takes two hours to find one when you want it but you find three when you don't need it

I also got the black knight shield from the first black knight and the BK halberd.
All these things I'm never going to use...
The BK shield is definitely worth using.
Okay, I think my game broke.

It won't display on their side.

Thanks, game. I will surely need both the great scythe and the large club on this SL1 playthrough
Good fucking lord I hate Anor Londo so much. I can't just simply run to Smough and Ornstein's boss room without having to jump through so many fucking obstacles (aka enemies) and pray I don't get fucking invaded at the same time. I've burned through so many humanities for Solaire's help and I can't fucking beat these two assholes.

There is a trick that allows you to skip all but one enemy.
You do it by jumping over a certain part of the first spiral stairway.
Vageta311's video have the shortcut in them.

Helped me maintain my sanity when trying Smornstein over and over.
Also, finally beat the game! Great Club +15 and Havel's way too strong. At least, you know, PVE-wise. Into NG+ we go!

Doesn't that shortcut only bypass one kngiht though?
I never found O&S that hard to get to. They are like a minute away from the bonfire. Only enemies that directly impede your progress are 2 silver knights. Once you get into the main foyer you can pretyt much ignore the Titans if they give you too much trouble and head straight for the boss.
Silver knights aren't that hard to kill if you have a good blocking sheild and/or can parry. They are really easy to parry and pretty much die in 2 hits after you reposte/backstab them.

Not killing the giants in the hall-way would usually distract solaire and eventually get him pinned inbetween smough and the fog-gate.

The stair jump lets you skip every knight except the archer in the main hall.

You realize there is a bonfire right at the spiral staircase inside the main building right? So you don't have to spawn all the way at the beginning? It pretty much puts you less than a minute away from the boss fog.
I really wish there was some pause feature at all. I get it for the menus, but it's not fun to have a good run ruined by a phone call.

Qutting into main menu works just as fine as a normal pause would.

There are only two hostile knights between the bonfire and the main hall. One right next to the staircase, which you'll likely have to fight anyways since he's right there even if you used the shortcut, and one inside the room right past the first knight that leads upstairs. The one by the chests isn't hostile unless you attack him or get close. There is nothing beyond him between you and the foyer, so you can just go straight to the fog. The worst part about all this is dealing with the titans, which aren't even a big deal if you roll or can block their attacks, and you still have to deal with them when using the "shortcut", or you could just run past.
Hell you could probably run past the first two knights between the bonfire and the main foyer as well, it'll take less than 30 sec to get to boss fog doing that.

I'm guessing he didn't open the shortcut if he was complaining about how long it took to get to the fog gate.
Need help on 4 kings...
<--add me if you feel like helping.
Just got to blight town on my new sorcerer character and it is so much easier the second time around. I don't know if it is because I am familiar with the game or because magic is just easy.
Also thinking of doing an SL1 run, any tips?
