They do a good chunk of damage and nothing besides (mini)bosses seem to resist it much, why wouldn't you want them?

If you plan on PvP they are mostly worthless

But thats about the only downside

Plus once you get them you can leave the covenant no problemo and still use them

Considering that it's pure lightning damage, it shits all over Taurus, Gargoyles, Quelaag, Seath, Nito, Firesage, Centipede, and I believe it's pretty good against Gwyn. Not sure about DLC bosses.

Lmao killed two twinks in parish. This is mildly amusing after beating the game. I need to get good at just parrying though instead of wearing low level gear then suddenly popping a great scythe +15.

Would be pretty boss to just parry a guy then 1 hit KO reposte him with hornet ring. I'm only decent at parrying against PvE enemies, pretty terrible at doing it against players with lag involved and such.

So I recently discovered that if I click M1/M2 just before hitting a movement key (instead of the movement key first) I will reliably perform the special attack.. Now I have no qualms with the keyboard.

I've been invading Anor Londo with a Heater Shield and a Chaos Rapier. I've become very, very good at parrying players. Basically it goes like this:

Strategy 1: Anticipation

1. Do a light attack
2. Parry as soon as possible

Hopefully you'll anticipate their counterattack and parry them. This really only works if you have a fast weapon, otherwise you won't recover fast enough to parry after your first attack.

Strategy 2: Spammers Must Die

This one works best on katana/greatsword R1-spammers trying to stunlock you.
1. Tank their first/second hit
2. Parry as they're winding up for their next attack

Most importantly, [B]you can still parry two-handed light attacks.[/B] Most players, once you try to parry them once, will switch to 2-handed and spam the hell out of you. What they don't know is that most weapons (I've parried 2H attacks from weapons as large as the Claymore) can still be parried when 2-handed.

However, you almost certainly can't parry 2-handed heavy attacks. But since those are almost always slow as hell, you can just go for the backstab. Same goes for jumping attacks. Forget parrying, just circle around and give them the dick.

PVP Parrying is a hard skill to learn, but there are few things more satisfying than 1-shotting a Chaoshander Giantdad with a 1200 damage Hornet Ring Chaos Rapier riposte. Happy hunting!

One More Thing: Sometimes, when fighting in PVP, you'll parry someone, attack, and do a lame normal attack instead of a bomb-ass riposte. Thankfully, the stun on a parry is INCREDIBLY LONG. Just step a bit to the left/right so you're DIRECTLY in front of them, and attack again for the riposte.
