Question, how does the game compare to Monster Hunters? I never bought this cause people were shitting on the port when it first came out and I never got around to it since.
I don't know how it compares to Monster Hunter since I've never played MH, but DSfix takes care of all the problems with the port.

The port isn't very good, but the community has essentially fixed it. As long as you don't mind patching a couple things before playing, you should be fine.

Well, there's no eating/survival/etc like in monster hunter, also you don't take quests or anything plus the mood/setting is totally different
However gameplay styles are pretty similar. Giant swords swing like huge ass powerful weapons (if your stats are good enough for it), weapons feel very distinct and combat is pretty kinetic. It's also semi-open world much like Monster Hunter and boss fights play out similarly to how you might fight giant monsters in Monster Hunter.
Stamina also works similarly, in that its a fast recharging bar and each action you do draws against that.
So the actual combat mechanics are similar and how you might end up fighting certain bosses or enemies, but the actual game is very different (more traditional RPG rather than a huge amount of crafting, eating, mining for ores, etc.

I did Monster Hunter Tri a good time back (if that's what you're referring to.)
The game controls like Monster Hunter, but a bit more brutal on damage and getting stumbled if your poise isn't good enough. There's more depth in the combat, but less in the crafting. Monster Hunter doesn't make a bad comparative game for Dark Souls, but Dark Souls is more like a less-happy, more difficult Monster Hunter. Bosses handle much the same, probe for weaknesses and exploit them. I'd say it's more free roaming, since you don't need to hunker down anywhere and there are various useful NPCs throughout the game. Also just replace crafting with RPG elements and leveling.
Actually, in fact, if you enjoyed Monster Hunter and are fine with (slightly) more difficult games; I'd fully recommend Dark Souls. It's not as hard as people make it out to be, and if you're absolutely dead stuck, just get a guide. I've never had any boss or enemy be a dead stop in this game; my only one huge piece of advice would be avoid getting cursed. It's a bitch waste of time.

[del]Fuck. I can't remember my LIVE ID, and I don't know how to get it back.
Any help?[/del]
Nevermind, I'm a dumbass.
Any tips for Stray Demon? Can you escape that pink fog he creates?

Stay behind him. Don't lock on.
Just beat smoughstein. SO SATISFYING. Also, I cannot wait to go grab some unbelievably swag ornstein armor, because I killed smough first.
I love this game.
Also, friendship is power; every boss I've had any trouble at all with, I've beaten on the first try with a partner.
Any tips on cutting Kalameets' tail solo melee? I've been able to hit his tail once but now he just spins his tail every time I get behind him after his flying lunge attack.
Are there like... requirements for using the Sunlight Altar? The game doesn't give me the option to pray at it. I've killed [sp]Gwynevere[/sp] and Solaire is there so I dunno.

25 faith, and it goes down by five for every boss you help kill as a phantom.
Okay.
I'm bored.
Time for an archer playthrough.
Let's get unusual. http://mmdks.com/v0v
(please forgive the knife, I don't intend to use it)
Was Nito supposed to be hard? A lot of people complained about him, was expecting an over the top boss but I walked in and killed him on my first try. I just hit him in the back until he did his AoE, then rolled back and let it kill the skeletons.
no, his power was stolen by those necromancers you pummeled earlier
Nito was more intimidating than hard, especially if he hits you with toxic and you don't have a cure.
Annoying if you don't have a divine weapon too.

Why a wolf ring? You shouldn't be getting hit. Use the hawk ring since you're mostly going to just be shooting things from outside their aggro range.
holy shit fuck the bell gargoyles im so sick of having to do the same shit for the 10th time
summon help then ya wuss
Finally finished the game, playtime- 22 hours 53 minutes. Can't wait to restart with a new build, but I'm thinking of maybe trying an SL1 run instead- nothing to lose, should be interesting to see how it turns out.
ok i know how pinwheel was a boss (barely) and then right before nito there's like more pinwheels
are those like pinwheel-minions or are they just more pinwheels
like the anor londo gargoyles or the demon ruins capra/taurus demons
Nah they're little guys. they have less health.
Though I'm pretty sure all the "minor" demons in Izalith have the same health as the earlier bosses. It's lazy, but it does convey how much more powerful you get by lategame.
What's the name of the video where the guy was dressed in the Elite Knight set wielding the Drake Sword pretnding to be a noob? I can't remember the name and I want to show it to a friend.

Started SL1, just finished gargoyles. Any tips for an SL1 run? Right now I'm planning to make 2 reinforced clubs (one fire, one lightning) and play with those. I'm thinking for armor I should do mask of the father + grass crest shield + starting robes.

They don't the taurus for example has 1200hp (last I checked) but the ones in demon ruins have only 800
