Started SL1, just finished gargoyles. Any tips for an SL1 run? Right now I'm planning to make 2 reinforced clubs (one fire, one lightning) and play with those. I'm thinking for armor I should do mask of the father + grass crest shield + starting robes.
Get a fire and lightning axe, too. Just in case you need to take out some monsters that can't be stunlocked.
I decided I was sick of being encumbered and switched up my armor so now I can move nicely and still be decent. Ornstein's armor is pretty kickass, but with my BKS I still cant have much and I need the Mask of the Father to keep it unencumbered. I tried using a crystal halberd and it was working out great until I learend they break easily and can't be repaired. Sigh, I upgraded it to +3 too :saddowns: . Anyway, can anyone give me some tips about weapons and stuff? I've never been good at choosing my weapon in a game and this game is no different. I have no clue how to even make weapons that have attributes like lightning and such, either., just how to upgrade a weapon and that's about it. I want a lighter sword so that I can have better armor and also be able to attack at a decent speed. I also went to the forest (past the crest of artorias door, i forget what the area is actually called) for some PvP, since I had heard there was some good action there, and well, I died quite a bit, but I think it went well overall. I won about three times, but one of those was some guy who could've killed me in 3 hits maybe just sort of patronizing me. I mean, he basically gave me the kill, which was a decent amount of souls and everything, so that's cool, but man, it kinda made me feel pathetic. Moreso than if he had just wrecked me in seconds. He let me heal like 5 or 6 times. Another guy who I just could not damage and took me out in a couple hits I actually got invaded by about 3 times in a row, and the third time I just walked off a cliff. He messaged me and was pretty cool about it, he wasn't a dick about being way stronger than me or anything, so that was nice. PvP is really fun though, I just gotta get better at it.
Looking for an old dark souls video, not sure if anyone remembers it. It was a guy who continuously got invaded by / invaded a hacker in the Undead Burg, and then he goes out of his way to kill him by exploiting a jump leading to the hacker trying to follow him and dying?
Sounds like Foogooman's video. His video was doing the Undead Burg > Lower Undead Burg jump, the hacker tried it and died, then sent him lots of hatemail. He deleted it though v:v:v

I found a reason to join the dragon covenant: [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/aeoHF3S.jpg[/img_thumb] on that note, I got my first message today telling me that I'm being reported by someone who invaded me because i made my head so big it supposedly made his game crash even though I clearly saw him black crystal out.

Become human to summon solaire to help with smough. Get invaded by a guy dressed as seigmeyer. Wearing full havels. get 1 hit through full stamina and hp bar. Its going to feel so damn good when I finally beat the boss(s) and get out of this hellhole.
I would not stick with the club, the moveset is a bit tricky and the weapon is not that much of use if it does not scale with your stats.
But... it's an SL1 playthrough. What stats? :v:
But... it's an SL1 playthrough. What stats? :v:
That's what I mean. Why use a weapon that is only really efficent with stat scaling?
That's what I mean. Why use a weapon that is only really efficent with stat scaling?
??? The reinforced club is probably the best weapon you can use at SL1 though???
??? The reinforced club is probably the best weapon you can use at SL1 though???
I think I might have mistaken it for another club, still the moveset is not that handy and I prefer weapons with a good moveset, even if they are weaker.
Stop talking about things you dont know, SL1 runs go hand in hand with reinforced clubs, it's possibly the best weapon you can use.
Stop talking about things you dont know, SL1 runs go hand in hand with reinforced clubs, it's possibly the best weapon you can use.
I did it with a broadsword and a longsword, it went quite good and was less of a hassle than I thought. Also I still dislike the moves of the club. For instance the longsword has a variety of slash and stab attacks which are fairly useful in different situations.
The scaling on the reinforced club does not matter if you make it an element, as elemental stuff does far more damage at the expense of having no stat scaling. For raw damage, the reinforced club beats out anything you can one-hand at SL1 at +5 lightning. There are a couple things that beat it out at +5 fire but you have to two-hand them.
Just forget what I said, I totally botched it.
best boss music imo

Late, but I actually laughed when he took out that giant ass weapon. Don't know what its called.
Demon's Greataxe.
best boss music imo
I have to disagree... Artorias' theme doesn't even count anymore. Everything to do with that character was handled really well.
This song is just so goddamn sad, it portrays the whole scenario so well. That moment when you enter the kiln and see this old broken god, a shell of it's former glory. One of the best songs ever used in a final boss fight.
I now have a controller that works~
I'm doing my SL1 run with two elemental battle axes, though I'm having some trouble at Artorias. My Reinforced Club is not fully upgraded yet, and it's power attack has gotten me killed more than once.
I think they should have given Pinwheel much more health, +5 estus flasks, and made him chug them down every time he hit 50%, and let him summon wheel skeletons that can inflict curse and toxic, and have the floors able to break from under you. Did I mention that pinwheels, his clones, and his wheel skeletons buddies could cast long range pursuers that inflicted curse and toxic?
Balanced.
Balanced.
GENIUS!!! Gaping Dragon fight now has 5 wheel skeletons that can balance on each other's heads to create a giant wheel of wheel skeletons.
best boss music imo
I gotta admit, Pinwheel is probably the character I want to know most about. The implications of that bulging sack full of who knows what and those three masks are seriously disturbing and cool. The "I'm so sorry"'s add so much more to his character too. Maybe Pinwheel was the dad, and he sacrificed the rest of his family so he could live forever, only to regret it immensely afterwards?

He's a scholar, not a warrior.
Or maybe the "I'm so sorry"'s are because he doesn't want to fight you. He's a scholar, not a warrior.
If he didn't attack on sight it would be different. All you do is drop in behind him and he starts chucking fireballs at you.
