You have ONE life. The moment you die the challenge is over. SL1 Pyromancer You can't level up. You are not allowed to use bonfires to heal. You can use the Firelink bonfire ONCE at the beginning, and you must reverse hollowing. If you want to use a bonfire to reinforce equipment or refresh pyromancies you must be at 100% health before using it. You'll need to glitch the game to be able to leave the Undead Asylum without an Estus Flask. You cannot use any other form of glitch. You cannot quit/reload to avoid enemies. You can't farm. Forbidden rings: Ring of Sacrifice, Rare Ring of Sacrifice, Slumbering Dragoncrest, and Ring of Fog. Forbidden sorcery: Aural Decoy. This is an offline run. Trick jumps and artificial shortcuts are fair play. You are allowed to summon NPCs (See? Is not all pain and tears, you can have some jolly cooperation!) You are allowed to use Humanities, Divine Blessings, Firekeeper Souls, and whatever items to heal yourself. You are not required to kill everything, but getting the non-respawning enemies looks pretty cool! If you make it to Seath (fucking A, you da boss!) you are allowed to use one Rare Ring of Sacrifice to avoid that scripted death.
or i could not do that
or i could not do that
Some people are masochists. Others play Dark Souls.
Didn't say I couldn't use Cheat Engine.
Do the Undead Asylum, get the homeward bones in Firelink, warp to Gwyn's room. :v: How the hell do you do the Asylum without get the estus flask or using CE?
I can't get Dark Souls to work with my wired PS3 controller, I'm using MotioninJoy, everything else detects it as a 360 controller and works fine, I can bring up the GFWL overlay with it, but the game doesn't respond at all to my button mashing :gonk:
Do the Undead Asylum, get the homeward bones in Firelink, warp to Gwyn's room. :v: How the hell do you do the Asylum without get the estus flask or using CE?
The OP posted it on reddit lemme retrieve it http://www.reddit.com/r/darksouls/comments/1770qa/dark_souls_challenge_what_on_earth/
How to leave the Undead Asylum without an Estus Flask After the boulder rolls and breaks the wall that allows passage to the room where the Elite Knight Oscar of Astora is (the dying one that gives you the Estus Flask and the keys for the second floor), just quit and reload, head downstairs and unlock the door that leads to the first bonfire, then go towards the Asylum Demon room. It will open at the second try. The kicker? You will not have your starting Pyromancy Flame (this is a side effect, I'm not a sick sadistic ass who wanted it like this! Honest!) so you'll have your first one once you rescue Laurentius or talk with Eingyi after beating Queelag. You can see the glitch at the beginning of the video linked at the end (you can see me quitting and reloading in real time woo!).

Click on the test vibration button on motioninjoy, that's how I got mine to work the first time anyway, or click enable not really sure which one did it
Yeah, I did that, the controller works fine in Skyrim, Super Meat Boy, Zombie Driver and Deus Ex, Dark Souls isn't picking up input from it for some reason.
if you have mouse fix enabled try disabling it, also reinstall dsfix if you have it already
Thanks, that was pissing me off since I had bought the controller to play this.
The fact that you can parry friendly phantoms is the most comical thing. I summoned this guy in Oolacile Township. I wanted help with the level, but he seemed pretty intent on waiting for invaders. No invaders show up, and after a while, he wants me to swing at him. Because I'm using a greataxe, he parries me every single time. I'm just giggling and laughing the whole time. Took me like 10 tries to parry the iaito's 2hr2. though.
Eh, so starting over is sub-par right now. I was getting pretty frustrated/annoyed with the fact how badly I screwed up my first character considering that I wasn't armed with any knowledge of the game; which resulted in a crappy build and alot of drastic mistakes I made along the way. So after educating myself with countless hours (and counting) on the game I decided to start fresh today. Still a bit of a bumpy ride, though. I may have knowledge of what to do, when and where, but that doesn't make up that my combat tactics are still shit (Yes I have watched videos on how to get better with the combat, but in the end it all really comes down to is a battle of reflexes and just dumb luck). It because of this (or maybe I just have the shittiest luck), that I can't kill Havel the Rock nor can I get past the Red Drake guarding the bridge. I did summon a Phantom to help me but all the got me was losing my souls miles away from my Bonfire (The first Bonfire in the Upper Undead Burg). Still, losing a humanity and 6,000 souls could be worse; I can probably make up for those when I eventually make the trip to Undead Parish myself.
Havel can be strafed and backstapped over and over, just lock on, stay close, and strafe right when he winds up. And a hint... I dont think it's entirely necessary to approach that drake until later Anger and anguish is what really makes the game though 'cause y'know, a bad game you wouldn't give a shit, but this one makes you so mad sometimes I recall someone comparing this game to a dysfunctional relationship, which you will see why soon I feel a little better knowing that it were dev's intentions all along to make you "learn from your mistakes" [sp]and hate yourself[/sp]

The issue with strafing Havel is that I always somehow end up eventually rolling into his attack. Would it just be better to roll backwards?

It's best to wait until he's initiated the swing (as in, it's coming down at you) and THEN roll either left or right to get behind him. Whenever he jumps backward, he's about to do a charging attack, so watch out for that too.

If you notice, he's locked on to you for a certain amount of time into the backswing. As he drops his club it won't follow your position. As I said, it's a lot easier to block and strafe him. More advice, just learn enemy movement and you'll find weaknesses like this quickly.
I would really love to get my hands on Artorias greatsword, unfortunately the requirements are a bit messy. I usually focus one one main attribute like faith or intelligence, but never both. I am currently doing a faith build and I would really love to get that sword. I have about 8 intelligence and I am really late in the game.
Whats the ideal stat build I should go for if I want lightish armor, strong pyromancy, and dex scale weps like uchi and quelaags? I really love Pyromancy and my Uchi, right now I have 25 vit, 14 att, 22 end, 16 str, and 32 dex

Also the Nazgul armor is pretty neat and offers enough armor.
Hey, nobody has a problem with Dark Orb and Dark Fog, right? I only hear complaints about Pursuers and Dark Bead, so I assume the other dark magics are okay.

Holy shit, Anor Londo exists. It's a place called Duomo in Milan.
Guys, if you don't help me with my acquainted set problem, I'm going to kill Solaire.
Leave the area, turn the game off, come back later, make sure you're looking in the right place. That's the best we can do.
solaire is dying. coming after priscilla next.
but but her fluffy tail

Wonder how his is going.) Though "no farming" and "the only method of healing what little HP you have is humanity or super rare divine blessings you'll never get in quantities nearly enough to use when you need to reinforce compared to when you really need to heal." is a little stupid because there's maybe 5 or 6 max without playing online pending on your starting gift. that's honestly the only one I think is stupid. I'm fine with no estus as long as I can have the healing items I need on hand (humanities aren't really amazing common and if you do the math out, you only have 7 + 6 + what little humanity you can find because no farming) also, what if we fight a boss, take a hit but not a lethal one and a warp is required to get out (abyss, seathe, duke of spook, bed of chaos)
Does anyone know any good challenge run that test your skill and reflexes? Don't suggest some naked runs or only starting gear. I like the change the asthetics and look of my character or it gets boring. I already did a no shield run and no level up run.
