Stray demon is way easy as long as you don't lock on and remember that the forward-slash AOE doesn't hit behind him.
I always lock-on to the Stray Demon and he's still easy. You just gotta be careful of the fire attacks.
Only two things in the game get you souviniers - a successful darkmoon invasion where the host dies, and as a rare drop from the harpies in the Painted World (you'd want max item find for this)
Best places to invade as darkmoon in my experience have been Painted World (the fact that the boss is optional keeps this area open for invasions for many people), Catacombs, Dukes Archives, Forest, and Anor Londo - in rough order of how successful I've been. I've had a few here or there elsewhere but I seem to have the most success in the above. Kiln and Oolacile Township is probably a really good spot too, but you need to be a high SL to get close to the level of that area for successful invasion (SL100+).
Painted world is likely going to get you the "hardest" players since you'll run into people who just want to PvP there while catacombs is probably the earliest level area you'll be able to invade people reliably (since you need to have sin or been indicted, and not beaten the area boss to get invaded, and catacombs I guess tends to produce more players that qualify for this).
I have 7 Souveniers, trying to get the last 3 from Dukes

I need 4 more faith, where should I farm at SL81?

And I can't even use Darkmoon Blade.
Yaaaaaaaaaaaaay.
you're missing the best bossfight in the game rip
All the others are great, but I thought Kalameet was too easy. Especially [sp]being the only real dragon boss in the game.[/sp] I only had trouble because I wanted to cut off his tail and he refused to do attacks that left his tail vulnerable. I did manage to cut it, then I just defeated him without trouble.
kalameet was really hard for me since his telegraphs were very confusing
like if he stands up i dont know if he wants to do the air attack or the standing fire breath
I can't get Seath's tail, it's driving me nuts.
Got a +5 Black Knight Sword, surely that should be enough, right?

Painted world phlanxes are a good soul farm
Darkmoon blade requires your talisman to be equipped on shield hand, as you need to have your weapon out in the right hand to apply it

No, I don't have 30 faith.
I'd consider Ornstein and Smaugh to be the hardest fight. And all the DLC bosses are pretty challenging. But yeah, dark souls isn't as difficult as everyone makes it out to be. Back in the days of NES we had games that would just brutalize you.
I'm not as familar with the really early games: Is it fair-hard or bad-design-hard?
I'm not as familar with the really early games: Is it fair-hard or bad-design-hard?
Deliberately impossible so people would take 30 hours to beat a 15 minute game.
I'm not as familar with the really early games: Is it fair-hard or bad-design-hard?
-snip-
It is almost always fair. You usually feel justified in your death unless you get gangraped by a ton of mobs, or your fighting Bed of Chaos.

fair-hard
basically if you fuck up it was your fault
(except bed of chaos)
He's talking about old NES games not Dark Souls.
NES games weren't fair-hard, they were flat out brutal. Like how you had to know to start running exactly as you enter a new room otherwise without fail you will die, that's not smart - just infuriating.

Early NES/etc games were very difficult because they stemmed from the arcade generation - where games are hard, because they want incentives for you spending more quarters.
It was also because technically a early video games were pretty short affairs if you were good (especially since saving your game wasn't a thing at all until later). So by making the game a hard challenge, it took you a while to get through it before you were good enough to blast through it. And replaying the game was fun because of the challenge that was there. Most games were "unfair" hard but many of the classics we all remember tended to be "fair" hard at all player skill levels, with only a few bits of "unfair hard" thrown in here and there. Which is why they felt more fun, and are more memorable.
Like I'm pretty sure you can beat Sonic 2, one of the longer sonic games, in less than an hour if you were good at it and familiar with all the levels. Probably much faster if you were so good that you could do speed runs effectively.
I'm tempted to just do a speed run through the catacombs, murder pinwheel, get to Vamos and get a fire weapon before trying to kill O&S. I also have plenty of green titanite shards already but no titanite chunks, so even if I get to the giant blacksmith I can't make a lightning weapon quite yet.
So I got a Balder Shield. Is it worth upgrading and holding on to?
it has really high stability for a standard shield
Just had a sunparty at Undead Parish. All 3 of us wore the elite knight set with a grass crest shield.
The coop in this game is amazing, I wish they are going to improve it in DS2.
Started a new offensive faith build to toy around with- I've played with a few miracles before, but I'm not sure exactly how I should go about molding this one, I've only beaten the game on a pure melee build. Any suggestions? I'm currently a Cleric with all stats default + 25 Faith, just got the Lightning Spear and I'm tearing everything apart with it.

Lightning spear is pretty much it
You'll want to try getting Emit Force ([sp]you get it from onionbro's questline, at firelink once you've progressed far enough into it[/sp]), Wrath of God ([sp]save that one chick in Tomb of Giants then immedately warp to firekeeper shrine at parish - do not waste time otherwise she dies[/sp]), and then something like Tranquil Walk of Peace and Vow of Scilence for defense in PvP ([sp]both in Painted World[/sp]), otherwise you can just get Great Magic Barrier ([sp]in Ash Lake[/sp]).
Try to get the upgraded Lightning Spear as well. If you use any sort of melee weapons at all you can use Darkmoon Blade/Sunlight Blade, both are very very good miracle weapon buffs. You might also consider getting Karmic Justice - its very situational but it pretty much annhilates whatever triggers it and its a really nice surprise move.
Sad thing about pure cleric builds are that you don't start getting any good offensive miracles until pretty late in the game. And even then there isn't a massive selection (but all your options are generally really good). Also if you plan on doing PvP in any sort don't rely on lightning spears, since they will almost always miss unless you time it right (after a stun for example) or are good with aiming without lock-on.
so yesterday i invaded and killed someone in the forest and i got 877k souls
i was able to level up from 65 to 94
