If you're basically behind someone's shoulder, you can BS provided you have a decently fast weapon. That's how BS fishers do what they do. He was at a disadvantage for two reasons as a result. One, he has giant armor so he can't turn as quickly which means they can just circle and get behind him, and two he's using a huge weapon which doesn't swing as quickly so if you try for a BS and whiff, you've got a lot of recovery time.

I don't call that "over the shoulder" really.

But if you look at their relative positions before that, it was a plausible backstab. It can take a second to register the animation sometimes but that's not necessarily lag.

It's been working fine for me, I might just be one of the lucky ones though.

Is it worth sacrificing some of my physical defense in exchange for some magic defenses and better mobility? I really don't mind fat rolling all that much, but It annoys me that magic rips me to shreds. Also went to fight the Four Kings today with a +10 Uchigatana, it ended up being like smacking a stick against a tank.

It has the lowest i frames of the rolls and takes the longest to recover. The easiest way to beat the four cunts (i did it with a +13 utchi on my first pt) is to just don full havels and spam. As long as you stay close and keep mashing you should be able to stick with only one king who wont use magic [editline]13th February 2013[/editline] Also, magic defense is only better than psychical in cases where your fighting powerful magic enemies like Gwyndolin and Pinwheel servants (even though they're easy)

weapon upgrades should take priority above character upgrades. unless you need to upgrade your character to equip a weapon. (except for BoC it punishes you for simply existing)
