I always just assumed that by not saving him, he goes hollow and shit so he doesn't put his summon sign down. By saving him, he just gets there ahead of you due to MAGIC TIME STUFF and believes that by himself he can't defeat Gwyn, so throws down his summon sign. Gwyn just doesn't "respawn" in other peoples worlds. Once he's dead in one, he ceases to exist in the others. The same goes for the other people who hold "the" souls and soul fragments. But due to gameplay etc his doesn't actually happen, but Solaire's reference to time being distorted still stands lore wise.

If you do save him he gets there before you because he's a BEAST I don't see why every universe wouldn't have its own Gwyn. [editline]27th November 2012[/editline] I've been thinking a lot about Solaire and I think I've discovered some solid evidence that he is the son of Gwyn. My god. I need to make a lore video.
EpicNameBro probably already did it. It is pretty clear though, he gives you sunlight medals which are "given by Gwyn's firstborn."
Ugh, my god. Why I always forget not to bow first if I get invaded in townshit. So I respawn from other battle and ran off to kill mobs(because their screams are so annoying). I get invaded while I take that 4 group of mobs below. I ran off back without killing them, only one of them followed me to the bonfire, so I see invader and bow to him, while I'm at it he steps to my back and backstabs me(you serious dude?)and that stupid mob arrived, so I take quick sippy(because fuck unhonorable people) he starts spamming R1 with his katana enchanted to crystal magic weapon, my poise breaks and this mob does an uppercut and I die. I messaged him "Wow, that was too pro for me" he responded with "random". Random my ass.

[editline]27th November 2012[/editline] Dark Souls - Cleric/Sorcerer 23 - Baddy Chaos "The worst part? I could have just not talked to him and come back later... The even worse part? You can save Solaire without joining the chaos covenant by using poison mist through the shortcut door to kill the red eye maggot standing right on the other side..."
Had no clue you could save Solaire without being in that covenant. The only time I joined the covenant and did what was required to save him was on a save where he was already dead. At least it was a better way to go than suddenly being at the center of his very own sun. My God the "good" ending is so fucked up. Dark Lord for life.
[sp]We know Solaire goes to the Kiln in his own world because his summon sign is there if you save him. Given his personality, he certainly would have linked the flames given the choice, and it seems like he did have the chance since he was there. He found his sun by BECOMING THE SUN through linking the flames.[/sp] [editline]27th November 2012[/editline] This is speculation obviously but it sure seems likely
[sp]If you save solaire, he goes to link the fire in his world and suffers for it, gg you made him feel worse.[/sp]
[sp]If you save solaire, he goes to link the fire in his world and suffers for it, gg you made him feel worse.[/sp]
[sp]but he effectively becomes the sun, which is kinda what he wanted[/sp]
Do you actually feel like sharing because I'm interested
Yeah I think I really will make a short lore video on all things Solaire. [editline]27th November 2012[/editline] You rate me disagree but you should tell me why I'm wrong. [sp]How does Solaire suffer for having linked the flames? Sure he gets burnt up but he becomes the fuel for all light. Even the sun is apparently fueled by the first flame since it didn't seem to exist before the first flame appeared. That's about as close to finding your own sun as you can get.[/sp]
I finally beat the fucking Bed of Chaos, it wasn't nearly as hard as I thought it was a few months ago. Now I just have to explore around and find where to go next.
While I was waiting to be summoned for Artorias I went afk for like 5-10 minutes and when I got back I had more humanity and souls so I guess someone summoned me, saw I was afk and went to fight Artorias alone.
He must have been a boss. :V
But Artorias isn't even that hard.
oh god my sides this is so mean
So I was thinking about making a SL60 or so build using the crystalline set and one of the crystal weapons... but then I found out you can't upgrade them. Crystalline set weighs 27.9, 73 defense, 40 poise. Unupgraded elite knight set? Weighs 26.8, 91 defense, 46 poise. No wonder I never seen people using it.
It's a gimmick item set, really.
But it looks so coooooool :(
I thought the point of crystal junk was that it was really good, but it broke quickly and you couldn't repair it. I didn't know it was that shitty though.
That's true for crystal WEAPONS. the Crystal armor set looks cool but isn't that great.
so I managed to kill the taurus demon with just plunging attacks thank you guy who told me there was a ladder also I met solaire of astora he's pretty cool
Well now I feel like a dick for killing him in the Burg on my Knight Kirk character. [editline]27th November 2012[/editline] Although I guess I did him a favor cause he can't go crazy or be burned alive for the next few hundred years.
Solaire is undead like the PC, but at any given time an undead can go hollow by completely and utterly giving up. Solaire doesn't give up when he wears the maggot, he just goes mad. But if you kill him at any point when his world crosses with yours, he drops his armour. This seems a bit odd, so why? The question why he does that is answered by two characters, Patches and the Crestfallen Merchant. Both strip gear of the corpses of undead once they stop moving, the Crestfallen merchant in particular says you have to kill them just before they hollow and you can loot it off them. This is backed up by Patches having cleric gear that he probably stripped off Vince and Nico or other clerics like them. When you kill Solaire, he is murdered by a true friend, and you tip him over the edge sending him hollow. Good job asshole.

so here I am, on my soon to be darkwraith char "WHAT IS YOUR DECISION, UNDEAD" accidentally slip and hit No "BACK TO THE ABYSS" baby come back :<
I hate it when this happens. All because it didn't register that I pressed the dodge button. [t]http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/559833874362723237/81A1F45DA13980CBBA8CE9D7BBBA3906BEF4CD9A/[/t]

Although it was less "fucking Dark Souls I pressed space" and more "why did I try to hit him a second time whyyyy" [editline]27th November 2012[/editline] I'm loving my current Gravelord Boarbarian build. Just beat Laurel & Hardy.
I think I'm just going to use power within and red tearstone ring for every boss. Ended up killing him in like 10 hits. [t]http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/559833874362834656/BAFBF36DE716A32C77E1E84AD04A14C8830D373B/[/t]
Has anyone tested what the level limits on gravelording are? It only really happens in NG+ so hopefully it'd be a decent level range but you could just sit at level 100 and it'd probably work.

Is it the normal 10 + 10% or infinitely up like invading?
