are you serious
you can do that?
fuck
Starting class doesn't even matter in the long run anyways.
It affects max soul level (Not an issue at all, 709-13 pending on class) and starting gear.
When you get to optimal levels you'll be just fine with whatever you start; don't limit yourself!
That's because you are wearing boar helm.
What's wrong with boar helm? :<
Stupid Funhouse, this map has to be one of the places with most stupid hosts in the game.
3 times I invaded, the 3 times the host got killed by the axes before I got to see him, no fun

I fucking love that, especially when the host sees the "dark spirit has invaded" message, freaks out, and gets killed by something obvious on their mad dash to the bonfire.
Watching someone get squished by a royal guard because they're too busy watching me watching them from the stairs never gets old.

Also people leaving Solaire to die because they panic and run for Drake & Josh's fog gate as soon as I show up.

It looks really stupid, at least to me. No offence. The positive side is that you're wearing it without any torso armor. Seeing people in knight's armor wearing it is just killing me.

I had this one time where I was invading at Anor Londo Solaire's Bonfire and the host challenged Tom & Jerry just as I entered his world. I could see the fog gate and the damage going on in the boss room, I even got to see the cutscene.
When O&S died I got awarded 25k souls and 1 humanity.
Best invasion ever
I almost feel bad for this guy. Almost.

Don't lock onto him, sprint behind him every chance you get

I've invaded a lot of people who still have the drake sword, +0 lightning spear, default class equipment, ect.
Really, I'm not sure why they still have all that. By the time I was in Anor Londo in my first playthrough I at least had the catarina set and the black knight sword.
On my very first playthrough, I was still using upgraded hard leather armor and the longsword. Upgraded gear is pretty great, to be honest. New players don't really know how to upgrade stuff efficiently, so they'll stick with one set from beginning yo end, unless they find something much much better.
I never even upgraded any of my armors during my first playthrough, only in NG+

I invaded that guy yesterday. Good to see he's still at it :v:

The boar helm is manly as fuck, it's got glowy eyes and huge spiky tusks. Makes me wish I could gore people with it
I don't know what my character was wearing by the time i got to Anor Londo, but i do remember finishing in Full Havel.
Time to attempt to parry Gwyn in the most awkward way ever.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but a summon will always glow? As in, there is no way to render yourself completely invisible as a summon?
The starter knight gear is actually pretty good for its weight when upgraded. For the build I'm using now, the only difference between starter knight with wanderer hood and waistcloth giant-dad is some poise.
It may not be flashy but you'd respect someone like that more than the guy who stacked on Havels or Black Iron and is fat-rolling everywhere.

I wonder how a backstab through a shield works
actually nevermind you're like a ghost right
Alright, I've finally got the opportunity to play this after I bought it a week ago. Wish me luck
Anyone who hasn't read this yet really needs to, it's a great piece of writing. It poses the question, "am I a madman for killing all of my friends just to have their things before I ascend?" and answers it pretty well.
The story of Dark Souls is really good but also really minimalistic at the same time. Rather than a whole bunch of exposition they just drop you in the middle of the city and go WELP HOP TO IT.
Factor into this your character might not necessarily have any combat experience before they died and then look at yourself become a monster-slaying badass (while dying a few hundred times) all while you barely understand what's going on, aside from the fact you need to keep on fighting.
Or I'm just dumb and I haven't really been following the story properly.
And yeah, the implications of a lot of the stuff you do in this game is pretty horrifying.
The idea of a single person being forced to fight constantly and endure countless deaths while not really achieving anything is also present in the Eternal Champion series by Michael Moorcock, which also have a pretty dark vibe to them. Could be worth a read for anyone that likes that idea.
Well, I get a C2D on startup. I'm going through the "fixes" they have on the wiki. Truly terrible port, and if it's really because of GFWL, well, fuck you Microsoft.
Windows 8.
It really was GFWL's fault. That's a real damn shame. Ah well, to killing shit (and being killed!)
w8?
oh dog wat done
Almost everything is cryptic. I don't understand much of it myself.
It's all hidden in item descriptions, dialogue, and other details dotted throughout the world. A couple of videos and some areas of the wiki explain everything if you don't feel like searching for the story.
I still like the existing theory that the "age of fire" is actually an "age of giants" because not only is almost everything more than a head taller than you, everything you meet that's actually friendly is just another human (except for the giant blacksmith of course). It proposes that Gwyn linked the fire to keep the age of giants in effect, to continue their rule even after he went hollow. By deciding not to link the flame after you kill him, you start the veritable age of man and end the curse of the darksign and thus the curse of the undead. All the massive shit you killed over the course of the game can no longer come back, ushering in a new era with you as the 'dark lord' head of it all. In both endings you become the 'new' Gwyn either way, because your last action literally determines the fate of humankind, whether it starts over or continues anew.
