With a strength weapon you can just two-hand it and interrupt the buff with a couple smacks, not to mention you do way more damage in the openings you get.

Arrrrrgggghh. Had 30,000+ souls after beating the Gaping Dragon and promptly lost ALL OF THEM because I immediately headed into Blight Town for the first time (stupid), went too far (double stupid), died and then died on my way back (triple stupid). Fuck.

[sp]I think I came up with a cool combo for Manus! Now, many of you might be thinking about how this fight could be even easier if I used more damage buffs. I could have used an additional 80% damage buff (20% for Dusk Crown, 20% for Bellowing Dragoncrest ring, and 40% for Power Within), for a total of 130%. That's 1404 damage per crystal soul spear and 1064 per regular soul spear. That would have allowed me to kill Manus with exactly 2 crystal soul spears and 4 soul spears which is what I would have had without the dusk crown ring. Mathematical! In this run it took 8 hits so that would have saved me 2, however if I had equipped the Dusk Crown then this fight would have only taken 7 hits. Using Logan's catalyst using the maximum buff option would likely take 6 hits as well, MAYBE 5. I don't have exact numbers to work off of but while it has a lower magic adjust it would let you use 4 crystal soul spears instead of two. However, with 20 vitality Power Within will take exactly 20 seconds to kill you (assuming the wiki is correct about how much damage it deals) and in this run it took me 33 seconds to get in 6 hits. You would have to heal, removing the 50% buff from the red tearstone ring effect and make it take 7 or 8 hits to kill him anyways. So, quick question, i've been using the Black Knight Sword for quite some time now, so far it's made the majority of enemies a complete breeze, with a few exceptions ofcourse, but now after getting down to New Londo where it's basically useless against every single enemy, I kind of want to know if I should go on and upgrade it the final few times, or begin upgrading some other weapon instead, and if so, then which weapon. All of my attunement, intelligence, dexterity and strength lie somewhere around the 20-30ish, I usually have a black knight sword +3 equipped in my right hand along with a regular sorcerers catalyst, and keep a high level pyromancy flame along with either a heavy crossbow or a gargoyle shield in the other hand, and I still wear my Wanderers set, although I upgraded all of it to +2.

Any BK weapon can carry you to the endgame pretty easily.

Regular BK sord sucks. GS and Axe are good though.

Regular BK sword is extremely reliable, if you get that on the first Knight. You are laughing your way to Gwyn. I have never bothered using the Axe, everything else i have used once in a while. But never touched the Axe.

BK weapons are super easy to parry though. Especially the axe.

Just tried solo-ing Oreos and Smores on NG+ on my first try Killed Smores but Super Oreo did a lunging attack that seemed to have hit me twice, which killed me. Time to try again. [editline]29th November 2012[/editline] Well I beat them but I feel super cheap for doing it... 2nd try was better. Killed Smores really fast without much trouble. Super Oreos though, I was standing behind one of the pillars and all he was doing was shooting lightning bolts at me. The pillar blocked the bolts, but my arrows would go over them and hit him. He was an easy kill. By the way, I forgot to mention that I was soloing them with a +15 Black Bow only.
