So you said "it wouldn't look the same if not for Skyrim" and are getting pissed when people say that you said "it would look different if not for Skyrim"? What?
"This would look completely different if it wasn't for Skyrim". "Completely different" and "Not exactly like it looks now" are two VERY different things [editline]10th December 2012[/editline]
"I strongly assume that if Skyrim hadn't been put into the picture, Dark Souls II would look very different from how it looks RIGHT NOW." Exactly what you put. Very different.
Very well, I take that back then. But even then, for all we know, it could be right. That's the thing, we can't know what the designers were thinking. With the new director shift, I'm personally not feeling too comfortable with anything right now. I'll probably still buy and love the game, but I have this scared feeling in me because of some of the choices they've made
I just can't comprehend why you are so paranoid. This is from software, they haven't skimped out on anything thus far. You make two incredibly far-fetched comparisons from an announcement trailer with no further insight into anything as of yet and you claim that they have been heavily influenced by skyrim and are uncomfortable with it. Seriously, before spending all this time arguing about this shit wait a while, see what the article from Edge says at least.
We might just be looking at this wrong. If the Age of Light ended, and the Age of Darkness has started it would explain why the world is colder, and snow covers everything. Either that or the game is set in the numerous icy mountains that make up the backdrop for Dark Souls.
My idea is that it's a prequel, Anor Londo is still small and there's not much else than the main city where the gods reside, you can't see any of the Burg or Duke's Archives or any of that other than the actual city of Anor Londo. The land is spewing fire and magma, the protagonist's blood is boiling as it hits the ground because the world is still forming itself, probably fueled by the first flame in the Kiln.
I DIDN'T SAY COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. I SAID IT MAY NOT LOOK LIKE IT DOES IF IT WEREN'T FOR SKYRIM. Gooood, why can't you guys read?! AND YOU USED "YOUR" WHEN SPEAKING ABOUT SOMETHING I AM!! IT'S YOU'RE FFS
Holy fuck, take your autism pills already, jesus.
you claim that they have been heavily influenced by skyrim and are uncomfortable with it.
No, I do not mean it was heavily influenced by it. I meant it reminded me of it. That is was influenced at all. And I did read that article, and that just scares me more. The game is being directed by someone who hasn't worked on either Souls title, nor resides within From Software at all normally. [editline]10th December 2012[/editline]
Holy fuck, take your autism pills already, jesus.
Do you have any idea how frustrating it is when people keep reading what they think instead of what the text says? Yeah, you do. It's fucking annoying. Plus, I hate it when people get your/you're wrong cause it's so easy
Thousands of years, but not many games, is what I'm saying. We're not talking about society. We're talking about an RPG. Look, please, I wish I was just crazy and completely off, but I think this has a slight resemblance to this Not OH GOD IT'S GONNA BE SKYRIM, I'm saying it LOOKS A BIT like the AESTHETIC DESIGN is a bit more similar to Skyrim than Dark Souls was. COULD BE A COINCIDENCE, but in the game industry, I don't know.
There's actually rocks in the Graveyard near Firelink with similar engravings to what we see in the trailer rocks. edit: [t]http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/578965377919080196/ACE1CC9ED96D7760563C467F43BDABD7989F6C39/[/t] I guess they're not too similar, but hey, engravings.. on rocks.
My idea is that it's a prequel, Anor Londo is still small and there's not much else than the main city where the gods reside, you can't see any of the Burg or Duke's Archives or any of that other than the actual city of Anor Londo. It would be interesting to see a world where the concept of the undead is still new. It would also explain why those Lord's Blades and Velka would show up, since it's her job to punish sinners and the Gods have sinned in spades(depending on if you believe Kaathe) and helping her would put you at odds with the Gods. Now I feel like a huge nerd, but DS pretty much requires you get really into the lore to understand what's going on.

Your saying "no it wasn't heavily influenced by it" whereas earlier you said "Dark Souls II would look very different from how it looks RIGHT NOW." Face it, your just fucking wrong, I can't say it any nicer. There might be more to fuel your side of the argument later on because at the moment there isn't much at all.
There's actually rocks in the Graveyard near Firelink with similar engravings to what we see in the trailer rocks.
Nice find, I forgot all about those

And about the new director, the old one is still working on the game as a supervisor. It takes more than a simple director change to sink a title.
oh my god goldenbullet just stop, why did you need to start this boring and annoying argument again
There's actually rocks in the Graveyard near Firelink with similar engravings to what we see in the trailer rocks.
I just went and checked them out and I really couldn't see that, they just had normal text-ish textures from what I could see, but I didn't find my USB cable so I couldn't play with a controller, thus I didn't get to check it for too long before just alt+f4ing, but... Yeah, couldn't find it. Maybe I just missed it though [editline]10th December 2012[/editline]
What's you're point? It takes more than a simple director change to sink a title.
I know. Trust me, I know. But like I stated not too long ago, I am kinda more "concerned" about the marketing (concering the design) of this game than the game itself, cause to be honest, we haven't seen anything related to gameplay. Heck, the trailer itself could just be a large distraction or just painting a picture for us to imagine something on. But right now, they seem to try to appeal, AT LEAST TO SOME DEGREE, to the kids who played Skyrim and loved it and want a new adventure. And no, I'm not saying this is bad thing, it's just something I felt like pointing out
So, I don't get very far into Dark Souls last night, made it a bit passed the dragon to the armoured boar. I'm loving the game so far, it's gotten quite annoying at some parts but nothing the satisfaction of getting past it can't beat!
With the armor, snow, dragons and fighting the dragon on top of a snowy mountain resembling a lot of key features in Skyrim, a guy with a torch exploring a cave filled stone carvings isn't helping with the Skyrim vibe that you get since the Draugr ruins were also a big theme in Skyrim. If they wanted to make the trailer be more Dark Souls-y they should've put more emphasis on being undead than the dragons flying everywhere, maybe show some unique areas like the crystal cavern or Anor Londo, but I guess the new director is going for something else.
Dragons are a big part of Dark Souls, since you know, the kinda ruled the damned world, planet or whatever Lordran is, so it'd make sense if this is a prequel to emphasize on them. I'm going to bet my 10 dollars it's a prequel, mainly because of the white porcelain masked guardians looks like the description of the first guardians of Anor Londo, from before Qwyn's army went fuck all.

The real Dark Souls hasn't even started for you yet.
Zondac plz go
If anyone asks what Dark Souls is, I'm going to show them this image. Because this is Dark Souls, my friends. This right here. Piggu Squad, complete with comically thin Chet.

I can't decide between downloading "YOU DIED LIKE A BITCH" or "SHIT"
COMICALLY THIN CHET is now fashionably dressed for co-opping! Note his extremely form-fitting longcoat.
I can't decide between downloading "YOU DIED LIKE A BITCH" or "SHIT"
TELL ME WHERE.
Oh you're like that guy from The Nightmare Before Christmas :v:
Ah yes, Jack BoarHelmington, my favorite character from that one!
Except for the helmet you silly goose :v: Put on the darkwraith helmet, and it should be more or less like it

Damn it I wish the game paired me up with Europeans instead of Americans. No offense lads, but I'm sick and tired of being magically backstabbed even though I was 10ft away from you or my hits not taking down your health even though I clearly saw blood come out of your character. :( The one time I got paired up with a euro I had the most fun 2v2 fight ever. Other than that - this game is freaking awesome! Heck I even influenced PopSkimo to get it and plan on hopefully getting it for 360 for Christmas to play it with him! Right now all I can say is Thanks Dogmachines! I may have missed out on nearly all of the sleeping time for the weekend that just passed but it was damn worth it! :v:
I was just playing for a bit with a new character and I seen this beautiful sight: I'm usually lucky to get a 5th of what's there.
And here I am writing a book on failed invasions...
Keep in mind all you invaders that it takes about 10 minutes for you to be added to the server for any given area. If you enter a new area and try to invade all of your attempts with fail for the first 10 minutes or so.
