don't take the satisfaction of a legit OnS kill away from yourself. take a break and try again later.
Hell yeah this! Took me 6 whole hours until I beat them but damn was it worth it in the end! Felt like a god and went on to successfully invade 14 players! V:v:V
I invade at low levels, making everything a fair fight to help new players learn. If I stunlock them, I'll back off long enough to let them escape. I toss in quick attacks with my slow ones, and give them every opportunity to get one up on me. There are people who invade at low levels using their ascended pyromancy and buffed-to-fuck weapons, just to pancake low level players. I have pondered why they do this, it must be fun for a little while, at least. But they do nothing but that, their great combustion one, two, maybe on the lucky player, three hit-killing them, their weapons stun-locking and breaking their. Do they feel insecure, maybe they can't win against higher level foes? Or maybe, as children, darkwraiths entered their bedrooms, clutching all manners of weaponry. Greatswords to massive bows, throwing crystallized balls of pain or shooting lightning from their fingertips. There is a sadness behind these people, one which warrants naught but pity. [editline]11th December 2012[/editline] Then you stick a rapier in their back.
so whats the "raw" upgrade do? I'm using a +10 balder side sword that's raw
so whats the "raw" upgrade do? I'm using a +10 balder side sword that's raw
Raw removes stat scaling and pumps everything into physical damage. It's not really all that great.
so whats the "raw" upgrade do? I'm using a +10 balder side sword that's raw
It has higher base damage but it doesn't scale with your stats for shit. Raw weapons are ok for lower levels.
You dun goofd, Raw is useless 100% of the time when you can just upgrade to +15 normal.
I need to make a proper PvP character.
You dun goofd, Raw is useless 100% of the time when you can just upgrade to +15 normal.
shit really I thought raw was like fancy not elemental
The only reason to use anything other than normal weapons is if you're focusing your stats on something that isn't dex or str. A fire or lightning weapon is great then. Raw just isn't good at all compared to everything else.
Decided to try the Dick-Ass Thief at SL 57 for Anor Londo. I've been getting invaded out the ass. Ran into a Noob-Friendly Darkwraith there too, which was odd. First time he dropped 25 Titanite Shards for me. Second time he dropped 25 twin humanities. He beat me the first time I got him the second with a riposte. That was the most fun I've had in PvP for this game. Of course after that I was invaded three times in a row by a lag-stabber :suicide:
So can we all agree that resistance is the swimming of Dark Souls? [editline]12th December 2012[/editline]
Decided to try the Dick-Ass Thief at SL 57 for Anor Londo. You can get like 100 in an hour of humanity spirit grinding.

i eat a black bitches ass
Hey guys, just started playing a bit of Dark Souls for PS3 and I'm around the part in Undead Burg with the firebombers + ambush. Is there anywhere/anything I should read up on to get a better handle on combat? My current tactic seems to consist of [block] following up with [dagger stab][dagger stab][dagger stab]. I also got the beginner magic which lets me blast guys from a distance but it's not always a one-hit and seems to miss sometimes. Any tips for the Taurus Demon as well? Oh, and I accidentally attacked a merchant so I had to kill him. I tried restarting the game but yep, autosave it's too late. Anything I can do?

For combat, I would just say go with whatever works. Blocking and stabbing is a viable tactic if you're good at it, but blocking won't save you from powerful attacks and some enemies can score critical hits by breaking your block and attacking while you're left open. Thus I recommend you practise rolling and backstepping to dodge attacks, not getting hit in the first place is almost always better than blocking. It's worth learning how to parry attacks by wielding a shield or weapon in your left hand and hitting right-trigger just as the attack hits you, it'll knock their attack out of the way and leave them open. If you follow up with a well timed left-bumper attack right after that then you'll perform a deadly critical counter-attack with a cool animation. Magic is a great way to deal with enemies early on that will kick you ass if you get close, [sp]like that knight at the bottom of the stairs guarding that hallway who may or may not have wiped the floor with your ass already[/sp]. Biggest tip for the Taurus Demon would be to climb up that ladder and slam your sword into his head just like you did to the Asylum Demon in the beginning. Don't dilly-dally up there though... You're not going to be able to do much about the pissed off merchant until you've beaten the gargoyles atop the church. After that a guy shows up in the church who you can pay to absolve you of your sins, and it'll make any NPCs you've pissed off stop being hostile to you.

And yeah, that knight at the bottom of the stairs wiped the floor with me. I've contemplated putting lightning damage on my weapon because it bumps my damage up 6x. Now, I also happen to have a Master Key. Is Havel the Rock even worth my time? He's a complete fucking asshole.
He has his armour which is arguably some of the best in the game if you want to play a heavy armoured warrior type. Also a ring that counters your equip weight and lets you use heavier weapons and armour without being slowed down as much. Good luck killing him though. The first time I tried to fight him I got one-hit killed by his club about 5 seconds into the fight. The second time I thought I would be clever and spam heavy soul arrows across the room at him because it worked on the black knight. I fired one while he was turned around and hadn't seen me. It did 12 damage. He turned around and he didn't seem very happy. I ran up the stairs crying and screaming as he chased me the whole way.
so I attacked andre on accident right when he became hostile I alt F4'd if I come back and he's still hostile I'm going to cry
so I attacked andre on accident right when he became hostile I alt F4'd if I come back and he's still hostile I'm going to cry
Go to the gargoyle bell tower and talk to the pardoner there. If you pay him, Andre will forgive you.
Go to the gargoyle bell tower and talk to the pardoner there. If you pay him, Andre will forgive you.
oh shit you can do that you're a good man
how do you keep accidentally attacking friendly characters?
how do you keep accidentally attacking friendly characters?
how was I supposed to know every scythe like weapon makes you spin it in a circle
Is the lifedrain scythe any good pvp wise? It just sounds fun as hell, goes well with the Gravelord theme.
Is the lifedrain scythe any good pvp wise? It just sounds fun as hell, goes well with the Gravelord theme.
you need loadsa bleed resist, but yeah it's viable. It's actually kinda overused.
you need loadsa bleed resist, but yeah it's viable. It's actually kinda overused.
Really? I've yet to see anyone use it. Maybe just a great scythe, then.
Making a character right now, I bet you can't guess who he is. Here's a hint.
