Stat scaling is wasted until you have alot of 1 stat, ie 50 strength, otherwise +5 lighting, or similar will always do more damage
Stat scaling is wasted until you have alot of 1 stat, ie 50 strength, otherwise +5 lighting, or similar will always do more damage
It really depends on the scaling, and you end up having to grind a bit to max out a reinforcement like lightning or chaos flame. Most weapons also start getting diminishing returns at around 40 of a stat, but by that point the scaling will be adding a ton of damage. If you plan so specialize in whatever stat a weapon benefits most from, it's generally a better idea to use the standard reinforcement path.
I keep dying in the church. There is loads of really strong enemies. How do I upgrade my weapons or something?
tip for the balder knights (the guys with capes) don't attack the rapier ones when they point the rapier at you tip for the heavy knight (the giant guy with the big mace) try to parry him, failing that, just attack him while his mace is stuck in the ground for a bit also don't forget to pick up the firekeeper soul behind him, you can upgrade your estus flask at the firekeeper in firelink if you use that
I found the blacksmith and killed the huge guy with the mace. I don't know whether to repair and upgrade my longsword or my scimitar. Decisions.
Dang, as someone invaded me in Anor Londo, I accidentally smacked Solaire with my greatsword. Any way to stop him being angry at me, or do I just have to finish him off next time I see him?

Solaire won't be hostile anymore.
Go back to Oswald in the Gargoyle tower in undead parish, and pay him to absolve your sins. Solaire won't be hostile anymore.
Whew, that's a relief.
I found the blacksmith and killed the huge guy with the mace. I don't know whether to repair and upgrade my longsword or my scimitar. Killing the Balder Knights until you get the Balder Side Sword as a drop is the quickest way I can think of to get a good weapon.

So I just got my ass kicked by the Bell Gargoyle thing.
I remember when I first attacked a rapier balder knight in parry stance, was the cause of my first death in the game, should have known not to attack with that weird stance.
THAT was your first death? how did you survive the dragon and taurus demon and all the other shit before it? [editline]12th December 2012[/editline]
So I just got my ass kicked by the Bell Gargoyle thing.
go human and summon sunbro right before the fight
[editline]12th December 2012[/editline] go human and summon sunbro right before the fight
How do I summon him?
I found the blacksmith and killed the huge guy with the mace. I don't know whether to repair and upgrade my longsword or my scimitar. Decisions.
You're pretty much at the point where you need to choose what your main stat is going to be. The Longsword is a good weapon but with only a C scaling in strength and Dexterity you'd need to put points into both, which would hamper you later on if you choose to switch to a more specialised weapon. I recommend the Scimitar if you're used to it. You can get the Balder side sword around the church, it's basically alonger, thinner version of the long sword but it has a B scaling with dexterity, you can also switch the Scimitar out for a Falchion after a while, the Falchion is a direct upgrade over the Scimitar, same moves, same speed, more damage.
How do I summon him?
There should be a summon sign right around the fog door if you're in human form.
I just started the up my save, and immediately was on my hands and knees next to a bonfire groaning while a big YOU DIED popped up. Dark Souls doesn't fuck around.
I was thinking Dexterity would be my main stat since I seem to just run away and dodge everything and then hit them once and repeat.
I used the shortcut for dragon and the Taurus demon was predictable, didn't even used the ladder much. Although after that balder, I started dying a lot from the Capra asshole.
damn I died a lot even before the taurus demon
I was thinking Dexterity would be my main stat since I seem to just run away and dodge everything and then hit them once and repeat.
Don't forget to put points in vitality (you need the health) and endurance (for the stamina and equipment load, it's basically the most important stat). The other stats wont be too useful to you unless you plan on using magic, miracles, or pyromancy.
What's a good level to enter the Duke's Archives at?
What's a good level to enter the Duke's Archives at?
50~ is pretty typical
Where should I be heading after ringing the bell tower?
Where should I be heading after ringing the bell tower?
One above, one below yo [editline]12th December 2012[/editline] Read the item description on your keys
I find that new players aren't very good at listening to Oscar and the Crestfallen Warrior
I know I've got to ring another bell just no idea where it is, really.
read the description on your Basement key
I know I've got to ring another bell just no idea where it is, really.
blighttown [editline]12th December 2012[/editline]
Oh, I hope were able to get through lagtown because you're very likely to fall to your death if you don't watch your step.
yeah I'm in anor londo now, but I've been putting it off and just looting the areas I missed

Tried to parry Havel. Parried too soon. Became a smudge on the floor.
Yeah, I entered that tower through darkroot and as soon as I entered, I became his new doormat.
Wow he actually let you open the door? :suicide:
Yeah, I entered that tower through darkroot and as soon as I entered, I became his new doormat. Allow me to rephrase my previous question: Does anyone know a good tank 2H build?
Giants armor, Zweihander, Father's Mask, Havel's Ring, Ring of favor and protection.
