[QUOTE=Zombine;38457283]I wouldn't make a SL1 character. At least SL10-15 for burg and 15-20 for parish. Because on SL1 you'll be invading only upwards. So you could hit some NG+ players and all that.[/QUOTE] I'll become a Darkwraith and invade up. AND ONLY UP. THIS IS THE TRUE DARK SOULS AHHHHHH [editline]15th November 2012[/editline] oh shit page king hang on [editline]15th November 2012[/editline] [t]http://i.imgur.com/efQ4e.jpg[/t] there we go, pageking content. my favorite concept art. [QUOTE=Zombine;38457313]Something weird going on here about Kirk. Lore says that he is not a darkwraith but a chaos servant. He invades people to help Fair Lady. He stole red eye orb from kaathe and using it while being chaos servant? Well I guess you can't argue with lore, because you can't use red eye orb while being in any other covenant.[/QUOTE] Isn't that just speculation though? You know, like almost every other piece of Dark Souls lore. :v:
I've never invaded before and I hardly ever get invaded. I kind of want to do a gimmicky invader build though, like a blight town defender, sens fortress defender... something, I dunno. Can you only invade an area if you haven't killed the boss there?
you can invade anywhere as long as you're human, but you can only be invaded if you haven't killed the boss yet which means you should probably stick to the average level of the area to maximize your chances of successful invasions

Although that still doesn't explain why he can invade. Maybe he bought 99 cracked orbs from Kaathe before he quit :v:

If you're invading then you're fine, as long as there are people within your SL range.
that's literally what i just said [editline]15th November 2012[/editline] i saw that ninja edit

I think I'm gonna try this one [url]http://i.imgur.com/mMvRO.jpg[/url]
I'm not sure if I want to kill Manus, I don't need anything he drops and I enjoy PVPing in the Township.
good luck the problem with that build is you're super weak against magic. I'd keep a Dark hand on you at all times for safety shielding. It's best to not attack head-on with that one. When you invade, invade from the hallway leading from the bonfire. That way you spawn INSIDE and not outside. Outside invasions are hard at Sen's because they know exactly where you are (pretty much) and have access to Tarkus. When you invade INSIDE, you spawn on a beam. Jump off (carefully), and run to the fog door but go opposite the door and follow that hallway to the scary lightning snake. From there, spam sneaky r2 attacks at them and launch them off the bridge with a mighty gust.
Once my TV gets fixed I really need to start invading/getting invaded. Also, is it a mistake to invest my upgrades into the scimitar? I really like its looks and moveset but I feel like a dex build would be better with a great scythe, murakumo, or a katana. Opinions?
So, I was using my Aunt Jemima character in the Painted World when I'm suddenly invaded by some dragon Dorkmoon. I'm just hiding around near the area where you get the painting guard armor, when I decide to just go out and do some recon. I climb the ladder and stab on the second floor area towards the back, where a body is hanging and you can see the staircases. I'm chilling, doing flips as he taunts me with messages and asking if I'm scared. I reply with agreements, he becomes flustered, and continues with this for a while. Eventually, I decide I had enough after responding to a message and turn to walk out to the other side of the second floor when I see him in the door way. He obviously saw me and didn't do anything, stood there, and responded to my message for some reason. I get my ass the fuck out of there ASAP and run for that jump where Velka's Rapier is. I miss horribly and fall to the bottom, drank some orange drank, and dodged the rats in my escape. As I'm climbing the ladder at the top, I see he's literally right behind me, just standing there after somehow catching up to me. I once again get the fuck out of there and back myself against the wall with my shitty Grass Crest Shield and Lightning Side Sword. He waits up there and types a message, I respond to give myself some time, and while he's distracted, I go to the roof of the building where the Dried Finger is and wait patiently. He passes around the bridge a few times, then stops at where the archer was. He taunts me a few times with messages and I start tossing fireballs into the air to bait him over. As he gets closer, I go off the ledge and land on the balcony, then move onto the ledge next to that. He comes around looking for me there too, and eventually, he just messages me and says: "lol where r you". I respond with, "Give me sif soul." "i dont have it" "Gimme soul" Then the amazing bastard drops a +5 Fire Shortsword on the bridge along with a +4 BKS and walks away. I drop down, nab it, and then leave a shortbow and two knight souls. He then added me as a friend and proceeded to roar at me while I spammed taunts. Fun guy.
scimitar's fun, i ran a faith/dex build with it and a falchion. buff that baby up and hit people a bunch. [editline]15th November 2012[/editline] okay time to start being a Onebro
Having not really done a dedicated area PVP char before I have to say I love my silver knight. Really enjoying the PvP as well, tense and fun gonna put together a vid.
I'd enjoy pvp if it wasn't so laggy for me. My internet speed is so terrible people are always rubber-banding everywhere.
oh man now i want to make a whip build ffffff [editline]15th November 2012[/editline] okay which one of you is doing the darkwraith parish invasions someone jsut posted it on dsg and i know it was one of you [editline]15th November 2012[/editline] starting SL1 with a pendant like a real man
NO SMOUGH QUIT SMASHING ME INTO THE CEILING THE SECOND I LOOK AWAY BAD SMOUGH
i had to kill solaire i'm so sorry [editline]15th November 2012[/editline] rockin out to ke$ha though so that's good it's my focus music
I may have over-levelled my character a bit for PvP. What areas for good for a SL 51? Anor Londo still of use to me?
I still maintain that 35-40 is Sens, 40-55 is Anor Londo, and from there it's hard because all the four post-Lordvessel areas are basically interchangeable as far as order goes. I invade in Duke's at level 55 with no real lull in the action. I could do the same in Demon Ruins, Izalith, New Londo, or Cata/Tomb. It's up to you, really. tl;dr yes, but if you do it do it by Solaire's bonfire, the first one's less active.
Fuck the painted world of ariamis is annoying. Those damn toxic zombies are awful.
fire burns up the toxin either coat your blade or use pyro
backstabs and ripostes make them not explode, too. And headshots, oddly enough. just beat the gargs, farmed for 45 minutes for a balder shield and didn't get it grumble grumble

wat goddammit really [editline]15th November 2012[/editline] FUCK [editline]15th November 2012[/editline] well, i decided to start with the pendant like a REAL MAN so sens is a little bit away
Well after having my ass handed thoroughly to me in Anor Londo PvP and with being stuck when I shouldn't with Seath, I may start up a new character. I believe I went for too much "tank" and no dex or endurance to back it up. I'm literally a wall that cannot attack cause if I do I'm dead.
post your build. stats+items. i will make you a good pvper, goddammit. [editline]15th November 2012[/editline] use mugenmonkey if you can
[QUOTE=Zinayzen;38459123]post your build. stats+items. i will make you a good pvper, goddammit. [editline]15th November 2012[/editline] use mugenmonkey if you can[/QUOTE] I believe I got everything up there. As of now, nothing breaks my defense or poise. I have yet to have someone get past my shield and armor. The problem is once I even open up to swing that damned sword or use a spell, I'm boned. [URL]http://mugenmonkey.com/darksouls/?b=a25pZ2h0LDI0LDE0LDIwLDMwLDE4LDEwLDksMTEsMCwzNywzNywzNCwzNywzMSwyMiwxNjEsMzUsMTY3LDExMyxub3JtYWwsbGlnaHRuaW5nLG5vcm1hbCxub3JtYWwsMCwzMCw0MiwyNywwLDAsMCwwLDAsMCwwLDAsMCw5LHdvb2Rlbix3b29kZW4sd29vZGVuLHdvb2Rlbiwx[/URL] I also have most if not all Pyromancy spells except Ironflesh and Flashsweat (thanks to Laurentius disappearing on me since I accidentally taught him the chaos pyromancy)
OKAY LETS DO THIS jesus christ okay let me explain the point of poise. Poise is nice because it lets you withstand hits. The main point of this, of course, is basically just giving you a margin of error so if you make a mistake and get hit you won't be stunlocked to death. Poise has several [URL="http://darksoulswiki.wikispaces.com/Poise"]breakpoints[/URL] (which you can read about there) which are basically caps you want to hit. No point going over them, really. Ideally, I always aim for 53. I don't need 76 because I don't intend on getting hit by a greatsword. Even if I do, they nerfed them so they don't instantly stunlock so even if I DO get hit, I still have a chance to recover. Poise is not a defining stat in a build, it's a byproduct. Sure, you take it into account when you create a build, but you shouldn't build around it unless you're being [URL="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BJgdHvKz2_Q"]an asshole on purpose[/URL]. Which is fun sometimes. Anyway, on to your build. First of all...seriously. 131 poise means you can TAKE hits, sure, but at level 55 your vitality's so crap that it really doesn't make a difference one way or another because you'll still die relatively quickly. So that's COMPLETELY unnecessary. Same for the wolf ring. RoFaP is always a solid choice, I respect that. Giant armor's fun, but that [URL="http://i.imgur.com/V7Vko.png"]metagame[/URL]'s pretty much over. Even if you're using the Giant set purely for poise, the chest/legs/gloves are enough to get you to 76, save the head slot for swag (which is the most important part of a build). If you like how it looks, that's...fine, I guess. Use Havel's ring and accept that you'll fat roll. Speaking of fat rolling, let's talk about your equipment burden. I know it seems like it, (and I did this when I was new too), but the goal isn't to get as close to 100% as you can. There are different rolls depending on your equipment burden. Over 50% is what we refer to as "fat rolling", otherwise known as "you-WILL-get-hit-by-whatever-I-do-next rolling". That is not good. 25%-50% are medium rolls (and I think there are varying speeds there depending on exact %, but that's irrelevant). They recently buffed the roll speed so medium rolls are pretty good now. Seeing your build now, I'd suggest aiming for this. You won't be able to fast roll. Fast rolling is <25% equip burden. The point is to just not get hit. Ever. Or if you do, have JUST enough poise to not get locked to death. (not 131 poise, just enough. dem breakpoints.) Now, your equipment. Like I said, the greatswords can't stunlock anymore. That being said, they're hilarious. Especially THE greatsword. (Also, lightning was nerfed recently. If you can keep your humanity consistently above 10, which you will once you start PvPing more, I'd get a Chaos +5 Greatsword too.) There's NO reason to keep a Crest Shield AND a Tower Shield. Tower Shield's aren't even that good. The Crest Shield blocks 100%/80%/55%/45% physical/magic/fire/lightning respectively. Tower Shield's like 100%/40%/75%/50%. Crest is better and weights like 12 pounds less. Now that I think about it, let's discuss shields too. Shields are nice, they prevent you from getting hit. Again, ideally, you should probably just not put yourself in a position to BE hit, but that's unavoidable, especially with a build like you're using. (It looks suspiciously like a modified Tarkus build). With a build like that, you're looking at the following options: 1) You want a shield with high resistances to EVERYTHING, in which case I'd suggest the Dark Hand. 80% across the board, plus it looks fucking sweet. 2) You want a shield with 100% physical block and high stability so you're not staggered. This is why people typically pick greatshields, because of their obnoxious stability. That's not necessary, though. An upgraded Balder Shield +15 has the highest stability of all shields except Greatshields. It's like 82, I think, and Greatshields are 85. That's three stability for another ten weight. That's acceptable. Or 3) you want a shield with utility. That's not really up for argument, in that case you'd go for the Grass Crest Shield, just for the stamina regen. Typically people do this when they want to exclusively 2h their weapon, because the Grass Crest has pretty lame defense. Okay, let's discuss stats and then wrap this shit up. Your stats are...manageable. They're not min/maxed, but that's fine because I can tell you're going for a build where you can use pretty much whatever weapon you want. Quality, I think they call it. That's fine. 18 dex is a bit high for a greatsword, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't use it, it just means it opens up more options for you to use should you want to change. No complaints there. (I personally NEVER start with Knight, their starting spread's pretty shitty compared to Bandits for strength builds. Bandit/Pyro/Cleric are my usual choices, regardless of build.) Your spells are fine, although Toxic Mist never works. It gives you a breather, I guess. I'd switch it, personally, but that's up to you. Okay, so to put this all together. I'm assuming you want to USE the greatsword. To do that, you need to be smart about your positioning and timing. Try the rolling R1, it takes people by surprise. (Don't spam it or they'll see it coming.) Here is how I suggest you equip your character, taking into account how you already did it: [URL="http://mugenmonkey.com/darksouls/?b=a25pZ2h0LDI0LDE0LDIwLDMwLDE4LDEwLDksMTEsMCwyMSwyOCw0Nyw1MCwzMSwzLDE2MSwzNSw0LDExNCxub3JtYWwsbGlnaHRuaW5nLG5vcm1hbCxub3JtYWwsMCwzOCwzNywwLDAsMCwwLDAsMCwwLDAsMCwwLDksd29vZGVuLHdvb2Rlbix3b29kZW4sd29vZGVuLDE="]BUILD[/URL] You've got enough poise to withstand greatsword hits, you medium roll, your armor looks baller as fuck (my favorite heavy combo), and your shields are better. You could still probably switch the Crest for whatever you want (grass crest probably), that's your call. I use the Dark hand for almost everything except Dark Sorceries, I use crest shield for those just because 80% physical reduction still hits like a truck, you need 100% for those. (Also I switched Toxic Mist for Fire Tempest and Great Combustion/Great Fireball with Great Chaos Fireball, again that's up to you. I just like the combination of Great Fireball/Fire Tempest. There's some advanced shit you can do there where you throw a fireball at your feet and then cast Fire Tempest immediately. They can't see you in the middle of a field of lava so they go in for the backstab and then FWOOOOOSH. I do not suggest seriously trying this combo, I only did it on my Laurentius cosPvP. It's fun though.) Just practice with the Greatsword. It's a hard weapon to use in PvP, you have to be smart and careful. Luckily you have 30 strength so you can try pretty much whatever. Try the Gravelord Sword, that shit builds toxic I think. Or the Butcher Knife (I love that thing). You've got a LOT of options available. I suggest finding a moveset you like and then working from there.
[QUOTE=PotatoArmada;38458810]Fuck the painted world of ariamis is annoying. Those damn toxic zombies are awful.[/QUOTE] I literally just completed that area for the first time I used a spear to kill them so I could stay away from the toxic cloud
