No! The tail was a tactic that some used to stun them. It's not a weapon, it's more like some debuff.
The pounce was already an instant kill, because most times it kills them, and if it doesn't, they're stunned.
Aliens aren't a super overpowered one man army. They're sneaky little bastards.
Uhm, no, the tail is a killing weapon. Go play AVP 1/watch Aliens.
[editline]12:51PM[/editline]
As far as I can see, the tail is only used in executions from behind. Don't know for sure though.
Nope, it's not. The tail is the "heavy strike" of the alien, as it should be. I really disliked the "tail stun" bull of AVP 2.
AKA The tail will rape you up the ass 24/7.
according to a reliable source at www.outpostavp.com , PC gamers in America won't be able to get the special editions, just the standard edition. PS3 and 360 gamers get the benefits of the Hunter Edition, but PC gamers don't get anything.
pissed about it? me too. want to know who to blame? Sega of America. so go yell at them a bit.
European PC gamers get to have the Survivor and Hunter editions, though. lucky bastards.

The tail would still be used for killing, and for stunning. It's used for insta kills from behind.

Probably because the majority of their sales will come through Steam for the PC version. They probably decided that the supply and demand won't be high enough to justify doing a special edition release for the PC version in a huge market like America. Obviously, when a company decides to do this, the people who do want it lose out. That's why the huge rise in Digital Distribution is a doubled edged sword, If you love getting your hands on something when you buy something, you'll need to keep the retail market alive.
That, or import.
There is a Beta of this game out, it's not legal though, and i don't know if it works and i don't think anybody has downloaded it.

I'd ask for a link, but if it's not legal nevermind. I'm sure someone else here will track it down and find it and play it, though.
IMO i don't think is real, some guy did something like this with GTA IV, resulted to be some fake bullshit, and i don't think anybody except someone with a premium account and broadband will download 70+ files
(Yeah that's right, the beta alone is 7GB)
Edit:
Erm, i was wrong, apparently the beta is 14GB
Edit 2:
Someone confirmed that the links are fake.
I really cant wait for this game. Played the second one and it got me hooked for a month

There's a good deal of information and footage from the game that can be found at Alien Versus Predator Galaxy, they tend to get 'exclusive' information about the game(and the universe, if you feel so inclined) before the major websites update.
http://www.avpgalaxy.net/
It will be around $100 for standard for both USD and AUD. Correct me if I'm wrong.

none of this is new news
Well I can see it's going to be pretty expensive (well as much as Modern Warfare 2). But I guess it's worth it with the three campaigns and all.
Can you not just get the normal game? I didn't see it mentioned and I don't feel like splashing out that much cash to get a game. No matter how mind blowingly awesome it will be.
There is a Beta of this game out, it's not legal though, and i don't know if it works and i don't think anybody has downloaded it.
You don't really know do you.
Ten new screenshots were released today, the game seems to be shaping up really nicely.
They can be found here:

Ugh, why do they release exclusive multiplayer maps, doesn't that mean that all of the special edition buyers will be stuck with each other? I can see it causing problems. :/

They're releasing the maps eventually, but the limited edition people will get them first.

I had to revive it with something
Anyone know if they're going to release a demo?
[editline]10:16PM[/editline]
I googled for the full game release date and this popped up as the first result:
http://www.product-reviews.net/2010/01/11/aliens-vs-predator-demo-release-confirmed-for-ps3-xbox-360/
Quite convenient.
Sounds cool. Then I can decide whether it's good enough to make me buy the special edition.
if the demo comes out for the PC, I can judge whether or not I can run it decently enough to warrant buying it for the PC. woo!
