Pre-ordered the game, though not from Steam. Multiplayer skins seemed more appealing then the game Steam was offering. Doesn't matter much anyway. I'd prefer if the demo would come out before the actual game, as in, not two days away from it. Also, I would prefer if it went the way of Red Faction: Guerrilla, with a single player and multiplayer demo.
Steam says right on the page that you get the extra skins. Speaking of which, just pre-purchased it myself. Couldn't resist. Except now I'm bummed because I thought it was released on 10/02 not 20/02 :(
10 minutes of Alien game play. If you ask me they ruined the wall running of the aliens. It seems like it be harder to click a button just to transition to a wall then to a vent, then just crawling into it like in AvP2.

I constantly flip around smaller areas' walls and it sometimes gets really hard to stay on one surface if I am near a wall because the second I touch it I am flipped onto it.
I made a couple of poorly-drawn MSpaint comics predicting my multiplayer experience: Media tagssss :argh:

I really enjoyed the wall crawling in AvP2, and it was very easy to move. I'd prefer it over whatever they have planned.
Nice comics Sibilantjoe. I hope it's not like that, but it probably will be lol.

I also like the number of ambush places. And the fact you can destroy the light.
it looks like you don't even need to stealth kill, just run up to people clawing. although that video looks like it's on easy
It looks alright. Still not really convinced of the whole "press a button to enter this vent" and all, but some of it reminds me of the old AvP games. Like how the civillians cower when they hear/see you. What's up with the "aaaaaaagghhh" sound whenever you reach a checkpoint though.
I'm not sure about the new crawling system...But that was a demo player, and we all know they're borderline retarded... EDIT: Goddamn, where did that facehugger come from for the harvet option?!! And the garage it ends in is the garage where the marine campaign starts.
The drones have a healthy supply of facehuggers up their ass.
What does harvesting them even accomplish in the game?
What does harvesting them even accomplish in the game?
Every game has some sort of gather or complete system I don't think aliens need money so they probaly implemented that for achievements. It looks nice tough.
I hope there are a lot more Trophy kills than what their showing us, To keep away repetitiveness
Aside from having to push a button to enter fucking vents, absolutely awful voice work, magically appearing facehuggers for the harvest option, a weak looking tail whip attack(can you no longer charge your attack?), and a nigh invincible alien it looks pretty fun.

And the voicework seemed a little shoddy, but it's nothing game breaking as far as I can see. I like the new tail whip attack, it looks nice, instead of having it like a scorpion tale.

The alien gameplay looks interesting, but I think the person playing is simply terrible. Maybe it was their first time playing? Either way, it was just...bad. I would rather wait for more videos to come along.. Also, STEADY, IT AIN'T OVER. And apparently you CAN charge the tail whip attack.

Right, next one...Stop shooting me ASFGSDGSAS!" That was pretty much it frankly :(
I hate the people playing in these vids. it's been said before, but they really don't know how to play. not a lick of common sense, I tells ya!
Some juicy info, mainly about Multiplayer.
* It's not Games for Windows Live, it's just Games for Windows, which means it's just for windows. You won't need to use that crappy Games for Windows Live crap. * There is regenerating health, but it works differently for each species. Predators have the most health, Marines come second, and the Aliens have the least health. * It's not banned in Australia, it will be released with no alterations whatsoever. * Melee attacks work on a Rock-Paper-Scissors system, heavy attack breaks block, fast attack interrupts heavy attack, etc. * Aliens will be able to wall-crawl classic AVP style. * Aliens can sprint really fast. * Aliens will still be able to pounce on enemies. * Alien Life Cycle has been reported to be different, but not absent. * Aliens regenerate health very slowly, but can get health boosts from biting peoples heads off. * Aliens can harvest civilians and scientists in SP, yet to be confirmed in MP, not sure what the purpose is. * Aliens acid blood does do damage. * Marines won't be able to jump very high or far, apparently to prevent bunnyhopping. * Marines cannot crouch (Not sure if a bad thing, will wait for demo). * Marines can only carry a pistol and two other weapons. * Marines weapons (besides the pistol) include, Pulse Rifle (a given), Smart Gun (also a given), Flamethrower (another given), Shotgun, Sniper Rifle, maybe more. * Marines might be able to set up sentry guns in MP, yet to be confirmed * Marines life bar is divided into three, it only regenerates up to the current segment, Marines have to use stimpacks (which are limited) to regain full health. * Predators Smart Discs (now called Battle Discs) aren't homing, they work like the RPG in HL2, following the laser. * Predators Plasma cannon isn't homing, once it locks on target it fires in a straight line, can be dodged. * Predators jumping ability is more free-form than you think (besides having to hold the "aim" button). * Predators will have the ability to capture and reproduce sound to distract enemies. * Predators supposedly can only carry wristblades and three other weapons. * Predators weapons (besides the wristblades) include, Spear, Battle Discs, Shoulder mounted Plasma Cannon/Caster and Energy Mines. * Predators life bar is divided into two, works in much the same way as Marines except instead of stimpacks you use the Predators first aid stabby things. * Sub-classes are absent within each species. Replaced with different skins. * Alien Skins include, Number 6 Alien (Hunters Edition, and pre-orders on various sites Only), Grid Alien, Runner/Drone, Praetorian, Warrior. * Marine Skins include, A guy called Sgt Kaneko who looks a lot like Doomguy (Hunters Edition, and pre-orders on various sites Only). * Predator Skins indclude, Some weird looking Predator with a mask that looks like an Aliens face (Hunters Edition, and pre-orders on various sites only), Aztec Masked Predator, Wolf, Celtic (both from AVP movies). * There will apparently be a demo for us to try before we buy, supposedly coming out this coming week. * Dedicated servers are confirmed for PC, consoles get a matchmaking system. * Game is focused around multiplayer. * Multiplayer modes include; 1. Deathmatch - Typical Deathmatch insanity. 2. Team Deathmatch - Each species in their respective teams. 3. Mixed Team Deathmatch - Each team has mixed species. 4. Infestation - A squad of Marines vs one Alien, Each Marine that gets killed by the Alien, becomes an Alien. 5. Co op Survival - Up to four Marines vs endless waves of increasingly tougher Aliens 6. Hunt - A squad of Marines vs one Predator, the Marine that kills the Predator becomes the Predator. 7. Predator hunt - A group of Predators vs one Alien, The Predator that kills the Alien becomes the Alien (Please note that this may not be accurate).
Awesome, looks to be brilliant!
It's not Games for Windows Live
Hell yeah.
Aliens will be able to wall-crawl classic AVP style.
Alien Life Cycle has been reported

Aliens can harvest civilians and scientists in SP, yet to be confirmed in MP
Harvest a player in MP to help out your alien kill stealing buddy's?
Marines cannot crouch
Recruit we do things diffrent here we implement two metal plates in your legs so you can't crouch, deal with it :gonk:
Predators will have the ability to capture and reproduce sound
Capture? If they implement a microphone capture option I will have to kill somebody.

The sound recapturing will have to be damn good quality or not a selection of pre-recorded ones. "Smartgun firing" for example. It needs to be able to fool players.
Yeah the guy playing was Horrible, I kept thinking, " No retard don't do it like that" And the guy also missed one of those power things for taking out the lights
He also missed 17 chances to stealth kill the one marine, and instead clawed at his/her ass for 2 minutes. Demo players cant play for shit.
Capture? If they implement a microphone capture option I will have to kill somebody.
One would think they mean gameplay sounds, rather then 4 year olds screaming into their mics. Grid Alien skin? That thing is badass. I wonder if the varieties actually make a difference like in AVP2, or if they are simply for show.
Is there a preorder yet, if so, where? Sorry, can't be arsed to read trough 12 pages, haha.
Is there a preorder yet, if so, where? Sorry, can't be arsed to read trough 12 pages, haha.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/10680/ Also does anyone know how they plan to balance multiplayer, won't Predators be far more powerful than anyone else?
Probably be fewer PReds allowed, also Against humans it'll probably even out
The sound capture sounds great for sneaking, seeing that you can draw the Marines or Aliens from their holes and Disk them. Isn't the Praetorian a little too big to fit into tight spaces? Look at his head, it's almost twice as wide as his body!
I will buy this game, but not now, I think food comes before games :v:
