It really depends on what sort of fooling around you want.
Easier building, giant explosions, new creatures, et cetera.

Maybe he meant adding his own ambient noises? it's also a whole load more rewarding to hear your own music on the records and stuff (after cat get's boring(never))
Also can anyone recommend some mods that work well with Mo' Creatures? like if it adds its options under the world mod options in game or something and just adds to minecraft (not something that adds stupid shit like extra humans)

I found a Obsidian tools mod that looks okay, there must be some other extra decent mobs that fuck your shit up right?
Currently ogres have destroyed my house multiple times (I might make a few pits and pressure plate arrow traps
Is there a mod for adding floor traps/cages, someone must have done it, it works great in DF

I gathered a small posse to go explore and we didn't find any demons of yore.
We did, however, find 8 diamond from mining. Not all at once.

Diamond is quicker to mine than obsidian
Obsidian can only be collected if you use a diamond pickaxe
It's obviously far stronger than any other material (I think a full diamond block might be the longest to mine though, but that's 9 diamonds only just taking longer than a single obsidian)
