Sure, it was a grindfest, but runescape was fun back in middle school.
I remember shortly after I bought membership, trekking all the way to castlewars on the western side of the map, being terrified that I could lose my iron shit any moment from a chance encounter with a strong monster.
It was so worth it.
Kinda' pissed that only members will be allowed to vote in the poll, I'm not going to pay money to vote and I'm not going to pay money to play old runescape, no matter how thick the nostalgia goggles are.
I have so many fond memories of runescape. Now everything sucks.
sold my account with all the halloween masks, santa hat, pumpkin easter egg? that saradomin god armor? probably like 10mil gold and around 50k yew logs a few years ago for $500.
how much would the account be worth now?
I still have my old account from 2004. It's around level 100 from what I remember.
It'd be good to play old school Runescape, but I'd only play if it was free.

I remember this game, it's a shame that recently my account was hacked and my old email was hijacked.
If this becomes free, it'll be a good enough reason to come back.

I remember a few years back (two?) my friend gave me 3M, like my first M ever and then somehow I got hacked (never been hacked throughout the 6-8+ years I played it) and they took all my money and my full rune and just left my rune scimmy.
I found back my old account, it had a few million but I gave the account away and it kinda halfed.
I do have a fuckton of member crap on it though, along with some infinity robe thing worth 2 million something :v:

I'm pretty sure it's impossible to bruteforce into accounts on Runescape, so that must've been a hacker with very low standards or you actually got scammed as you might've shared accounts with someone.

That's very possible, I only know that they've added music to some locations but they've changed pretty much everything so I wouldn't be surprised if they changed some of the tracks.
I wandered around a bit, seeing if I still knew the free area in my head and I did, it wasn't for long but I only heard the old songs. I did notice some were updated but still the same melody.
The oldest songs sounded like they could be in an 8bit, but some had been updated to sound like actual instruments which was interesting but killed some nostalgia.

In all seriousness, that's pretty awesome. I had like 2 friends who didn't remember me and the rest had left for good when I tried it out which was pretty depressing.
I wish I still had the password for my 1999/2000 account. Way back in Jr high some jerk I knew got a hold of my pass, and when I finally got my account back like 3 years later, I changed the password to a bunch of gibberish. Unfortunately, I completely forgot what the password was. And since the email I used to make the account is long gone, there's no way for me to get it back.
I think the last time I really played it was when the dragon armor first came out. If I recall, I was around level 90 or so by the time I lost my pass.
I'm glad I don't have my account(s) from that long ago.
I made one late 2011, and since I was older and wiser, I was a hell of a lot more successful than my pre-pubescent self.
I would have kept playing had membership not increased to nearly $8 a month.
Only way I'd play is if it gets to the required number of votes for it to be F2P
