OMFG, all I still hear CoD haters saying are "It's another watered down CoD, just like every year."
How much more do you want it to FUCKING CHANGE?
So it's just Black Ops, but watered down? I don't think it looks anything like it. It's also 40 years afterwards.
The level that people want CoD to change differs from person to person. I have known people who literally say that COD won't be a good game until it has vehicles and destruction. So the fact that it's not *completely different* from the previous games in the genre (ie not a sequel) means it's obviously just more of the same.
Honestly it doesn't matter. CoD is the Halo of it's age. The hugely popular FPS that has just as many haters as it has fans. Just as with Halo the technology and designs shouldn't be expected to evolve greatly because they obviously work. In a few years CoD will become less popular and a new franchise will take it's place and we will see the same shit CoD has gone through.
It's the future. The game is based in 2025, but has some mission back in the '80s and in the Cold War. All of multiplayer is based in 2025 though.
We are in the year 2012 and I don't see any walking mechs around. If walkers were practical, we would have invented them 10 years ago. This is also the primary reason why the humans in Halo did not adopted the mechs and why even the alien covenants don't use their mechs that much.

I mean look at it. it's so slow a tank could probably outrun it and a helicopter could take it out from afar and any soldier could sneak in from behind and plant a C4 on it's leg. And how the hell does this thing turn?
I just assumed there is a walker because its a futuristic setting and walkers are fucking sweet. Sure they are impractical but who cares.
Black Ops 2 Tactical walker simulator according to some FPers.
As much as i could say i have no faith in the call of duty series anymore, looking at the trailer made me think this could redeem the CoD series
I was reading that the PC version is going to get DX 11 support, so mabye this will be overall a better game, bigger maps? More players? (Not trying to start a console vs pc thing here)
Either way, im not going to give them any of my money until i see some reviews when it comes out later this year
What does DX11 have to do with map size?

It looks like there is a minigun on top of it. That would make any infantryman think twice about getting close to it. And the thing could be good in terrain that tanks aren't. Could also be used in a support role to carry heavy weapons for squads that can't be carried on conventional transport. It might even be good in an urban environment, it would be able to fit through streets other armored vehicles could not.
I say, if it can perform a role that would be dangerous for someone else, why not. All about keeping casualties down.
IGN has done an Analysis vid.

Tessellation keeps the polys down on terrain in the distance and high in the local surroundings. Similar to LODs but with higher potential.
I actually think it looks interesting. I think MW3 is trash, and didn't buy WAW, MW2 or BO1. This might get me excited for a CoD game again.

That still won't affect the possible size of maps. Just the performance of them.
The IW engine is capable of relatively large maps. But the gameplay of CoD doesn't really suit them as it is too fast paced really. There's no reason to keep distance between you and the enemy as all the weapons are hitscan save launchers. So getting away from an enemy won't stop them hitting you.
I was thinking of buying Modern Warfare 2, but honestly I don't know. Is the multiplayer still popular? Should I wait for the price to go down?
BO2 looks way too futuristic imho.
What does DX11 have to do with map size?
Since they've gone through enough trouble to bring it to DX11, which the engine does not support as far as we know, you can infer that they can also pull through the effort to make bigger maps for pc only.

The engine didn't have DX11 support before BO2, so yeah, they've done a bit of work there on it (which is probably going to go underused really). But don't assume that means the PC version will get bigger maps, they have no reason to include that. Remember, CoD isn't known for massive maps and log distance gameplay.
Couldnt help but preorder BLOPS2 from gamestop they threw so many shiny things at me.

What do they offer? Because I've still yet to pre-order it. I usually don't do it until maybe 4 months before release.
I know for a fact that i'm not going to do the same thing that I did with MW3 - pre-order something like the week before. Was a nightmare finding somewhere that still had it :v:
Though, i'm not going to pre-order just yet. Its a bit early I think.

Well, they give you a 2 sided poster then 4 more pre-order exclusives later. So sometime in May ill get something then July, August, and October.
Oh btw the poster is pretty awesome. It has one side the guy holding the gun then other side is all red with zombie holding a head.

This is it, I assume:
I think I'll hold off for a while, since the game was just revealed. I'd assume everyone is rushing into GameStop to pre-order the game and they're probably going to run out of posters. I was lucky enough to get one of the last ones when they had them for the MW2 pre-order. I also got the one for MW3. I'll wait for a day when all the kids are in school and they're not so busy, or I'll just call ahead of time.

Here's my prediction for Black Ops 2.
Good guys win, bad guys lose. What do you think?

Good guys win for a little bit, and then the bad guys kill the good guys, and then you have to wait for the next game.

That sounds a lot like the MW series.
Or the Robots become self aware...
I hope that they don't do online passes.
I kind want to have this game rented for a while so I can play with some friends at launch and then send it back later. I haven't bought a COD game since Black Ops so depending on how this one is, I may buy this one.
They wouldn't do an online pass, unless they're changing it this time around. They've never done that before though.
The rifle in the new pictures looks a lot like the SCAR from Crysis 2. The whole trailer reminded me of Crysis and Syndicate but looks a lot of worse, especially the textures.
CS.GO's m4 reminds me of MW2's m4, therefor the game sucks.
Get your head out of the bandwagon ffs, if this was any other game, you wouldn't give a shit about the textures, but since its cod...
Hasn't it been proven that walking mechs are impractical in real life? Why would they put it in this game when you know that walking tanks could be easily be tripped over by a wire and be disabled if it fell to it's side?
You know what, give me boxes if you want guys, but...
*facepalm*
Who the fuck cares about that. Its cool, its fun and its badass. Why should we care about impracticality in a fucking videogame?
Oh god, here come the haters with a whole new load of "facts" to say how shit cod is...
and why the FUCK are we talking about Halo and comparing CoD to it?
Fuck some people are just dumb as fucking rock.

Also, was playing BO a while ago. The improvement patches really helped in the end. Runs pretty great and looks pretty good.

Why are some people freaking out about the horses? In a time where tech has been turned against you, it makes sense they'd use animals to get around.

Its supposed to be a flash back to during the cold war in Afghanistan.

Oh right. Did they use horses in Afghan during the Cold War?
