And it costs 3 bucks
Fuck you capcom I bought DMC4 cheaper than this

Yeah... isn't it like $1.50?
DMC4 is currently 1.69£ on GMG, aka 2€
That DLC is 3€

It costs more to have the illusion of playing a cool character in a shit game than to play a cool character in a good game
Next they release classic Dante's campaign for 50 bucks that requires this dmc.
If they did that I bet they'd be swimming in cash

Considering you can buy the first three games in HD for 20 bucks, I'd doubt it.
My favourite part of DMC 4 is like "Hey, remember how you, by this point in the game, have mastered Nero's abilities and have generally played through a regular length game? That was the tutorial, here is a billion more abilities, a complex style system, swappable weapons, each with their own skill trees. Oh yeah that "final boss" was only the end of the first third of the game. Enjoy"
It was more like "Hey remember how you played as Nero for half the game and you're used to his devil bringer and all his abilities? Yeah go fuck yourself and play as Dante now with a billion more abilities and a COMPLETELY different style of gameplay."
It's fine for people that played DMC3 but uh... people that were newer or hadn't played it in forever couldn't really do crap with Dante.
The worst part of playing as Dante all of a sudden is using his dash attack ability and constantly forgetting it sends the target fly away while Nero's just keeps him close.
It really does make sense to have the devil bringer with Nero since it's kind of a joker in a lot of cases. Enemy too far because you sent him flying through the air, making you lose most of your combo progression ? Devil bringer. Enemy too powerful ? Devil bringer.
Then you switch to dante and instead of devil bringer you have a ton of abilities. You even have to switch styles to just block.
[editline]18th January 2013[/editline]
Personally I just didn't bother with all these styles and stayed with level 3 swordmaster all the way through.
I never even used Trickster properly.

You know, except for the younger look of the new Dante I don't mind his redesign. It's just his character that makes me cringe. Now Vergil, he looks like the proper artsy-fartsy hipster.
And now they are putting the old Dante into their game. Since it's just a model swap I don't see why people would buy this.
The worst part is, another DLC skin they are selling is essentially Vergil's color scheme on Dante.
Same price as Classic dante.
I just realized there will never be a Devil May Cry where you're doing Demon extermination jobs as Dante, I mean sure there could be an over arching plot, but start off where he's called in to kill some demons and go from there, Four and one were kinda like this, but it was just one Major job instead of a few little ones.

Isn't that lady's job to exterminate absolutely all demons on earth

More or less, but you can tell by Dante's wall trophies that he's had a few that he's stamped out as well.

I don't wholly agree with turning DMC into a sandbox kinda thing, even when the 3rd game had the Temen-ni-gru's number of shared rooms and consistency and all, but it'd be interesting to have a main plotline and then a number of smaller missions, plots and so forth in the city Dante stationed his Devil May Cry business in. Hunt some demons, solve some supernatural mysteries, protect folks that ask and pay, while dealing with the big antagonist of the game along the way and so forth.
is the only reason im enjoying this game because ive never played a dmc game before?

When DMC4 first threw the backtracking at me I groaned a bit, and got ready for a games length of bullshitting me through scenarios in reverse. I was pleasantly surprised, and the Dante boss battles, cutscenes and gameplay in general made it worth doing after spending an entire game as Nero.
Kinda wish I still had DMC4, the joys of borrowing from a friend!

I never quite got Trickster, in both DMC3 and 4, it just didn't seem as useful as Swordmaster or Royal Guard. Royal Guard didn't seem too useful to begin with either mind, but once you get blocking and parrying down properly, holy shit.
is the only reason im enjoying this game because ive never played a dmc game before?
Very likely. I don't think the game is bad in itself, it's just the fact that we were expecting a Devil May Cry and we got another game with the name DMC slapped on it with DMC's character's names.
Basically, if they released it under a different name, people would enjoy it and wouldn't have anything bad to say about it, it's all because they decided to slap the name Devil May Cry on it.

I personally ran Trickster nigh 24/7, I just loved being untouchable and being able to quickly get to my opponents. Royal Guard is weird, it's hard to get right and at first you doubt its utility but once you get it right, what the fuck is going on, did I just punt the boss in a single hit.
Unfortunately I probably won't ever get to use Royal guard properly in DMC4 because I played with a xbox 360 controller on the xbox 360 and now I went to PC with a PS3 controller and turbo mode on so I have no clue what the fuck's going on and I'm getting my ass kicked.
Don't turn turbo mode on, it's for pussies. You gotta learn the combos yourself otherwise you're literally sat there pressing square.
Don't turn turbo mode on, it's for pussies. You gotta learn the combos yourself otherwise you're literally sat there pressing square.
You may be confusing Turbo with Automatic. From what I understand, Turbo is a PC only thing that runs the game 20% faster (because fuck you and your reaction time). Seeing as DMC4 is so cheap right now I might have to pick it up...I kinda need something to play that's not as clunky as DMC3 on PCSX2 can be at times :v:.

That's automatic. Turbo mode makes the game faster by I think 20%.

Pretty much that, my reaction time is being pressed hard.
I can't imagine how the Dante fight would go at 20% faster speed.
I can't imagine how the Dante fight would go at 20% faster speed.
Pretty sure it's not the entire game that runs at 20% speed, only enemy attacks.
I played the demo and found it mediocre, the graphics and framerate are atrocious. Wasn't DmC supposed to have this fake 60 fps technique which should look like it runs with a lot of fps but it's only a trick or something?
got past a boss in DMC3 i was stuck on... only to get stuck on another a little later
i just wanna finish this GAME

Which boss?
I played the DmC demo and I actually had fun. Will probably wait until it's cheaper before picking it up though. I wouldn't pay £40 for any game.
[editline]19th January 2013[/editline]
Is the HD collection worth picking up? I've never played DmC 1-3.

Yes it is worth picking up. 2 is crap, 3 is the prime of the series, and one is still fun today.
Meanwhile this is what I spent all night on.

I basically know jack shit about the story, apart from the beginning of DMC1 and well known stuff like dante's backstory. Weird thing I've noticed though is that in DMC3 dante looks really damn young. Is it supposed to be set before the other episodes ?
