How the hell do you do the rainstorm on PC? It says to jump + shoot gun, but it just does simple mid-air shooting then. [editline]26th January 2013[/editline] Oh you have to jump, then hold both jump and fire. Well that's not what the game told me, nice.
Max out charge shot and Ricoshot (Fucking stupid name) with E&I to make the guns actually useful. [editline]26th January 2013[/editline]
Started playing this after going three quarters through DMC3 (don't worry I'll finish it) It's fun, but it's not a DMC game. It's Heavenly Sword 2 in gameplay, which isn't bad by any stretch. It's just different. I dislike the ability to instantly catapult yourself to SSS combo, and the ice enemies only being able to be defeated with the angel weapons, and the fire guys only going down with the devil weapons. Nerfed guns aren't fun either. Ebony & Ivory are about as effective as shooting peas at a brick wall. Guns were a huge part of the previous DMC games, with the Gunslinger style and all, they were a force to be reckoned with. And what's with the lack of a lock-on, what the hell? Story's fine, it does the job, the characterization is the bad part. I would not call it a DMC game, but it is a hack'n'slash worthy of the genre name.
You'd better finish dmc3 you were hella close last I recalled.
I don't usually go for this sort of music, but the whole loud shouting growling works in DmC. The PC version is ridiculously smooth.
Wow just found out that there's a DMC HD collection for xbox 360. Is that worth a try if I've never played the first three but absolutely loved the fourth?
Wow just found out that there's a DMC HD collection for xbox 360. Is that worth a try if I've never played the first three but absolutely loved the fourth?
Yup. The third is probably the peak of the series, 4 being very close to it in terms of gameplay (but it feels a fair bit easier), the first is great, and still has partial horror elements left over ([sp]the mirror world is hella creepy, but that's as much as I remember of the game[/sp]). If it weren't for the fact I own the third on PS2, I'd consider buying the HD collection just to play the first again.

DMC 2 was a HUGE shot in the dark as to what the DMC franchise should have followed in the next game and thus it was kinda shit. DMC3 blew any worries out of the water though and DMC4 was really fucking good too. Still waiting on a proper DMC5 now, I'd like to know more about the story, like who the fuck Nero is exactly since all we have about him right now are speculations from the fanbase and shit.
Alright, DMC HD collection added to my summer bucket list of games. I'm also hoping for a DMC5. I really love the wise-cracking, over-the-top action of 4 and I wanna find out more about the world/story. For the type of game that it was, DMC 4's story was pretty bearable.
I enjoyed DMC4's story and to me it was also my favorite incarnation of Dante, instead of a cocky kid, he's now a more serious but still cocky rugged wise-cracking old man.

It is painfully obvious that his devil bringer came from Vergil in some way considering his devil trigger is literally an apparition of Vergil standing behind him :v:
cleared the game in about 7 and a half hours gee I wonder if that cliffhanger ending was just a setup for the vergil dlc i wonder

The Yamato seems to be attracted to the devil bringer though so that definitely leaves a connection but the apparition comes from Yamato which was Vergil's sword. As I said, all we really have are speculations at this point, nothing set in stone and I think it sucks, I want moreeeeeeeee. [editline]27th January 2013[/editline] Oh also, I've heard he was in his late twenties in DMC1 so in DMC4 he could be in his 30-40s, not sure though. In DMC1, it's said that Dante lost his family 20 years ago and he lost his family at 8 years old so that would make him atleast 28 years old, I don't know how long after DMC1 DMC4 is set but he's at the very least probably in his mid-thirties by how he looks, maybe even late.
If Dante was in his mid thirties in 4... then how old was in 2?
If Dante was in his mid thirties in 4... then how old was in 2?
Possibly his 40s though I somewhat dislike the Dante in 2 because he's not as fun as his younger incarnations, its like he became too serious, DMC4's Dante was a great blend of rugged seriousness and cocky humor.
Well I beat the new one finally. Now I have to decide whether I want to play 3 or 4, I'm guessing 3 first since it's takes place before the 1st game. I hear the port is shit though. I quite enjoyed the new one and I will definitely play the free DLC coming out and the Vergil DLC probably.
I personally thought the port was pretty good, just needed a controller because keyboard's hard as shit.
Are we talking about 3? Because I know 4 is amazing and runs on a toaster. I hope 3 is alright. I just use an Xbox 360 controller for any game like this because it's much easier usually.
Haven't played it in a long time but yeah, as far as I recall the DMC3 port was decent.
Yeah once I figure out how to map the controls to something sensible and get the resolution upped it'll definitely be playable, sucks there is no widescreen support other than shoddy hex edit. I can already feel how awesome this one will be though.
If you can get the PS2 emulator version of DMC3 or just get the HD collection on PS3 or 360. I recall DMC3 on the pc being locked to 30 frames...
If you can get the PS2 emulator version of DMC3 or just get the HD collection on PS3 or 360. I'm trying to mod it up to make it slightly more playable with widescreen and different button prompts.
I had (maybe still do on my steam) 3/4 but they never worked iirc. or it was i didnt have a controller that just made them nigh-unplayable in the first place. I'm actually enjoying DmC (SHOCK, HORROR.)

The first few levels are fun, because the no lock on combat works in bigger areas with lots of enemies. As the game goes on and cramps you into tighter spaces with stupid one one one enemies, it becomes irritating. Especially the rage wolves or whatever. The auto lock on always works against me as well later in the game, I could never hook onto the right enemy because of the small areas and numerous enemies. but hey, I recorded some gabeplay.
Well, so am I. It's not a DMC game, but it's fun, and there's nothing wrong with that.
Thats exactly how I feel. Nowhere near tough enough to be a DMC game :v:
Yeah DMC3 is a pretty shoddy port. I finally got it running at 1920x1080 which is fine that it took time to get that working because it's such an old game. But the game stutters pretty bad, like the framerate drops below 30 for sure and it makes it hard to play. There is really no excuse but it's from a time where Capcom didn't care about their ports. If I can run new games at 60+ constantly no way in hell should this one run at anything less than 100+.
i just cant get frigging used to the " hold key to use weapon " thing i liked more in the other DMC games where you just switched and thats it far more easier then HOLDING THIS, THAT AND THIS
