I must say I agree with MxOAgentJohnson, the [sp]Bob Barbas[/sp] fight was probably the most visually interesting boss I've seen in a good while.
Gameplay-wise, he's quite dull. But other than that.
I also dig his theme a lot.
The club was also pretty great. The blaring music with the stylized waveform in the background.
Hell this game has some great art design and music in general, Noisia and Combichrist did really well.
oh holy shit you can permanently equip weapons with the 1-4 numbers
suddenly changing combos gets easier
I do like how combat makes you feel awesome. Sure it's easy and not like originals, but for a quick feel awesome moment it does a great job.
If they made this a different game it would be a very good one. They'd have more freedom in story and characters and maybe that part wouldn't suck nearly as much. And they'd get a lot less flak for ruining DMC series.
Props to them for not locking fps on pc. I played it at friend's on xbox and 100fps on pc looks and feels so much nicer even if precision here is not nearly as important as previous dmcs. The port overall is rather good. You can actually play relatively well without a controller.
I just played this game trough and realised something
[sp]it was all a prequel[/sp]

It's actually [sp]a prequel to a prequel to the series.[/sp]
But there's one major flaw in that. [sp]DmC's in a modern timeline, while DMC 3 is not.[/sp]

Wat, it's actually just an alternate universe that has nothing to do with Devil May Cry except they slapped the names of DMC Characters all over the game.
It's not a prequel at all, its a reboot, an entire new universe.
I want to play DmC 3 but my Steam version just freezes on this when I start the game.

Any fix?
Not even gonna bother to go through on Son of Sparda. The auto lock on is so fucking terrible, I can't even latch onto those annoying bomb dropping flying guys. Stupid auto lock just makes me attach to a crowd of shield Angel weapon only guys and annoying chainsaw guys.
I'm enjoying Hell and Hell mode, like, i'm utterly addicted to it.
I want to beat Son of Sparda to get Heaven or Hell but I think I'm going to play other stuff first idk though games pretty fun.
Heaven or hell is easiest difficulty ever.
Heaven or hell is easiest difficulty ever.
Is hell or hell any harder?
Platforming parts are very poor imo. I'd rather fight more enemies than do all the pointless grappling and air boosting.
Is hell or hell any harder?
Isn't Hell or Hell; you die in one hit, enemies die in Son of Sparda hits.

Can't say I have one for you but the thing is, DmC 3 for PC is horribly broken. You'd actually be better off emulating this than playing the PC version.
Nah, DmC does a lot of things that completely change the canon, so unless they retconned the fuck out of everything it couldn't be a prequel. Like the fact that Dante gets his devil trigger.
The game was always supposed to be a reboot, but they thought the story up like it was a prequel.
I think it went like this : Ninja Theory started writing the story like it was a prequel, but as they went on they found out they either didn't know enough about DMC to make it canon, or they thought the title of prequel to be too restrictive and they went for a reboot instead.
At the current state of the story they would have been far better off making a brand new IP (just like how the first DMC was originally supposed to be RE4, but it turned out so different that they made it its own thing instead), but both capcom and Ninja Theory being filled with retards they kept it as it was.

Go play previous iterations of the franchise. They have a wide number of difficulty levels and apart from easy mode they are all pretty hard.
DMC4 probably has the biggest amount of difficulty levels. You can set the game to have a ton more enemies (and make them tougher), make everything go faster, make everything including you die in 1 hit, make everything tougher but you still die in 1 hit, give enemies the ability to devil trigger, etc.
Is hell or hell any harder?
Heaven or hell is that difficulty where you and everything else dies in one hit, even bosses.
Hell or Hell is you die in one hit but every monsters and bosses are Son of Sparda difficulty.

Yeah I tried 3 out I really like the premise but the PC version is turds. I'm playing DMC4 right now though, it's pretty enjoyable so far but I feel it's a little slow I guess.

Turn on turbo mode m8.
I've been playing DMC 3 on pc, modified the .exe with a HEX editor to run at my res and it actually runs very well and smoothly.

Quite an ironic crashing screen is it not.

Does anyone here have a lot of the concept art for the enemies unlocked, if so i'd be grateful if you uploaded them to steam or photobucket or something, mine has bugged out and i havent unlocked any whereas i have completed the game thrice over. Wanted to do a big collab drawing of all the demons
Back to DMC4 on PC. Finally getting the hang of the combos but dodging is still dodgy as hell with WASD

Can you control the camera angles?
so i just finished this
it isnt that bad of a game IF it is being looked at as a standalone game and not part of the DMC series
gameplay got me hooked up for a few hours even tough it gets a bit repetitive later and i reallly wish we had more enemies to fight in stages rather than these lame 3 V 1 !!!
also is the game a [sp] becouse well.. at the end dante lets vergil leave, his hair turns white and well it makes sense for me thats the starting point for it..altough i dont understand why dante says he has been in limbo before like nearly at the start of the game [/sp]
The devil trigger only comes once he has Yamato though so that apparition comes from Yamato and not the devil bringer.
The Yamato seems to be attracted to the devil bringer though so that definitely leaves a connection but the apparition comes from Yamato which was Vergil's sword.
As I said, all we really have are speculations at this point, nothing set in stone and I think it sucks, I want moreeeeeeeee.
[editline]27th January 2013[/editline]
Oh also, I've heard he was in his late twenties in DMC1 so in DMC4 he could be in his 30-40s, not sure though.
In DMC1, it's said that Dante lost his family 20 years ago and he lost his family at 8 years old so that would make him atleast 28 years old, I don't know how long after DMC1 DMC4 is set but he's at the very least probably in his mid-thirties by how he looks, maybe even late.
Yes but Dante does make a comment on Nero's devil bringer (although he doesn't get to finish it and it's purely speculation). Once he sees Nero's devil bringer he says "So looks like you too are a -" and then Nero promptly throws the force edge statue at the Sparda statue.

[sp]Later on in the game Dante says something along the lines of him spending his time "Killing demons and getting laid." He probably had been in Limbo before.[/sp]
Also, isn't the whole purpose of a reboot to be different? Of course it's not going to be like the other Devil may Cry games, that's the point.

If only everyone else would think that. People are refusing to play it ONLY because dante looks different.
- Unrivalled production values - Ninja Theory will take advantage of the latest performance capture technology to deliver a level of character design, story-telling and cinematics that perfectly complements DmC’s high-octane combat.

Which is dumb as fuck, imho.
So i actually just finished it.
Few things. Not as good as DMC1. though i can't tell if thats because of nolstalgia goggles or not, with that said, i think it's better than 3 and 4 respectively, combat was pretty fuckin' good, kinda tricky at times, i agree that the different colored enemies for the weapons broke the flow of battle, but i feel that's because rebellion was so well-rounded as a weapon, it wasn't as hard-hitting with the arbiter, didn't have the range of the scythe thing but it just excelled.
The writing wasn't as terrible as i was lead to believe either. To the point where people saying "FUCK YOU XDDDDD" is pretty much a fucking meme reply by this point, with that said, i feel like they made some mistakes marketing the game, about half-way through he began to remind me of old Dante, and i actually really grew to like him as a character, he's as cocky as Dante from DMC1, just isn't as carefull with his words.
The [sp]Bob Barker[/sp] fight was pretty damn good, kinda creepy at the same time.
Limbo sometimes (especially at the start) felt a little gimmicky, DMC1 wasn't afraid to throw demons into "the real world" so to speak, so i feel like in the enclosed spaces atleast, it would've been suitable for him to be ambushed, for example.
Sound track was pretty excellent too.
The only thing i can't decide is if:[sp]was Virgil's sudden yet inevitable betray calculated from the begging as we are lead to believe, or more, a consequence of being inside Mundas? i mean he did have a dick moment with the hostage exchange[/sp]
Absolutely, though it's different even if it lead to be "old" dante anyway, i mean Sparda was different, so it wouldn't exactly be the same, i feel like the character, after a bit more maturing and time with Cat (Kat?) could open the DMC shop like the intro to the first.

Was the dick move really a dick move though? I mean he couldn't exactly [sp]let Mundas' child be born into the world. It's not as if Mundas was a very good guy himself, his spawn could only potentially be worse and more powerful, especially after what we see during the boss fight.[/sp]

[sp]which is indeed true, but he definitely put Cat's life at risk, it was that point, and just as she was under siege he just showed how much he wasn't giving a fuck[/sp]
