Could anyone give any tips in CK2 on how to marry my way into more territory? I just can't seem to get the hang of it without giving everyone and their mom a casus belli on my land and getting wrecked

Try to marry one of your daughters matrilinally (Fuck spelling that word) to a third or fourth son and, once they get married (Not before or they father will cancel the bethrothal!) start assassinating the people ahead of your new son-in-law. If your daughters son is your heir and you die, you get both territories.
Or marry a sister/daughter of a ruler with no/very few heirs and, once again, start stabbing them. Then your heir will inherit both places.
That's what I do anyway, it's worked well enough to make me the first Emperor of Britain.

So in EU3, playing as Switzerland as my first real game. I've sent merchants to top the centers of trade, yet they only generate like... half a ducat, while others are making 10, 20, 30+. Am I missing something?

trade sliders and advisors probably
not all nations are geared for trading. states like venice and the hansa get enormous revenue from trading, but i think states like switzerland and france only get mediocre returns from sending their traders out.

I figured out how trade works in EU3 and I can tell you why you arent making that much from it.
Basically, the owners of the trade league get exclusive rights to trade resources.
If you have 500 ducats, you can start your own trade league, the profit you get back is quite great. Having an Italian trade league is great, since the African countries hop onto it and some others too.

So Wow.. so I made Germany and Poland go communist and join the Soviet Union in Comintern in 1933.
Shit went down hill in 1935, Germany Declares war on the allies and Italy (Italy is independant). USA and Spain join the Allies with the reason "War on Communism". Most Eastern European Countries have Communist Coups happen and join the Union. (I didn't do this, this was the AI) It is a stalemate until 1940 when the Commies finally break through the French Border, taking France (Not annexing, France still exists) and annexing Spain.
Communist Yugoslavia occupies mainland Italy, but none of their African territories.
Japanese Attack on Pearl Harbour still happens in 1941, the Pacific War right now is a stalemate, Japan controls Dutch Harbour, Alaska with no troops, the US doesn't seem intent on taking it back.
First nuke of the war is from the US in 1944 against Essen, Germany, then Berlin. Soviets nuke London the year after (I may or may not have cheated to give the Soviets a couple nukes, they've only used the one so far) causing most of of Great Britain to revolt into The 'English republic' with the southern most provinces to stay as the UK. English Republic had no troops so the UK easily annexes them (for a short time the English Republic and the UK had the same Prime Minister and Monarch) then the UK gets the event "The Empire Breaks Apart" or something like that 5-6 times. Then for some reason Canada annexes the UK, taking over ALL their units.

USA just nuked Leningrad and Moscow, 2 days later, almost every piece of Russian land without troops in it had soviet troops in it, Emergency Reserves maybe? Over the next couple Days, Dublin, Malta, Norwich and Dover were nuked by the soviets.

I figured out my problem, I had a trade agreement with every country in Europe. I thought it was a good thing, except my trade efficiency was basically 0. Now im making 400 a year. woot.
