I thought that splitting up much of Spain between my 6 children would help to strengthen the dynasty, and allow for a more unified kingdom. Nope. After my King died, the successor is faced with civil war from all of his brothers and sisters, many of whom control several counties (and some entire duchies).
Yeah, while it would be enough to placate your family, it also means that once your current ruler dies you're going to have a huge civil war as every pretender to the throne rallies their forces to try and take it for themselves.
What time's this game at? I call Novgorod if it's any time after 4:30pm GMT
Add me on steam and I'll give you the link to the rule set and the steam id's of the other players.
Add me on steam and I'll give you the link to the rule set and the steam id's of the other players.
Does that invite perchance extend to me? I'll try anyway.

Oh lord, what.
I'll keep you posted on any future Crusihads ALLAH VULT
Does that invite perchance extend to me? I'll try anyway.
Add me on steam and I'll see if I can work something out.
So let me get this straight: You can port a save of Crusader Kings 2 to Europa Universalis 3, and you can port a save of that to Victoria 2, and you can possibly port a save of Victoria 2 to Hearts of Iron 3. That's like 900 years of damn near continual history. On an unrelated note, is the Teutonic Order in Crusader Kings 2? I know historically they were most powerful around the 1080-1300 range (when the game takes place) yet I've never seen anyone play as them on an LP.
Yes but save converters are horribly bad from what I heard.

However I'll check. I'm inclined to say "no" as the game doesn't let you play as a Theocracy. [editline]30th March 2012[/editline] On a completely unrelated note, if I ever played CK2 online I'd be tempted to try and team up with other players to create the most inbred dynasty in Europe. [editline]30th March 2012[/editline] Yes, they exist but they're not playable, due to being the Theocracy Government type. The year they pop up in terms of a game start is 1225.

Does anyone have any idea as to the inbreeding mechanics in CK2? I want to create a dynasty of inferior mutants. If you have two opposable thumbs I'm exiling you and taking away all your succession rights. >:(
You know what's been a lot of fun for me recently? Playing CK2 multiplayer with three people. One of us is the king and the others are his vassals. No restrictions on "PvP".
Only get about 10 fps for CK2 on my laptop, Any other paradox games that might work better? would EU3 run easier? Also, CK2 with 2 players being, The byzantine empire, the HRE. Could they conquer the world together perhaps? At least until nerfs come.
... So, the Hapsburgs?
De Borgia are also pretty fucked up in terms of inbred dynasties.
Ok, I finally feel like I have the mental capacity to not completely suck at EU3. As a newbie I'll obviously be playing as France. My opening moves are to recruit the Advisor with Nat. Tax Modifier of +5%, Send Gift to Orleans, Insult Burgundy, and Guarantee the Independence of Aragon just to fuck around with any longterm plans Castille has. Also put 2 of my 3 merchants in my CoT, holding onto 1 just in case. Also, why not? Let's recruit some infantry. Almost forgot to move to Centralization... Local Pretender, that's not so bad. ...just got an Alliance offer from Poland... could come in handy if the HRE tries to start something. Accepted.
You should focus on getting 100% cultural tradition and getting a level 6 Master of Mint, they're a total must to battling inflation. Also sphere and ally all your vassals so you have a increased chance of diploannexing them and whatnot.
Welp. My starting general just died and it's not even 1400 yet. That's a pisser. Also Austria's offering me an alliance. Decided to reject. And now I'm Papal Controller. Yesss. Just Excommunicated The Hansa for shits and giggles. And then I flooded their CoT with merchants. Byzantium managed to defeat and annex Candar, then declared war on the Ottomans and lost everything. GJ. And JUST as I was admiring my +3 Stability a Comet appears.
Holy crap. I just finished fighting this long ass war. I was pissed at POland that they didn't help me in a war against Castille, so since I had nothing better to do, I declared a Dishonoured Call war on them. Next thing I know, I've got Austria, Milan, Poland, Hungary, Transylvania, and the Teutonic Order at war with me! 20 YEARS LATER Austria was a complete fucking meatgrinder. Every time I thought I was gonna be able to push through another stack of enemies came from one of the other nations. Not many of my troops were destroyed since I used the neighboring nations to hide my troops so they could recover, but my god did I lose a lot of troops. After Austria and Hungary fell the rest were a walk in the park since they were already so devastated by their losses. I didn't take any territories though. I just forced them to set nations free, revoke cores, and force-vassal the occasional OPM, netting me about 10 new allies/vassals.

Oh wow, I absolutely love the AHD 2.3 patch, great wars and new countries.
Oh wow, I absolutely love the AHD 2.3 patch, great wars and new countries.
Waiting on APD mod to integrate it into the great war system they already have alongside all the other AI improvements, will be amazing

I was playing for a bit in my Oman game, it's 1598 and I'm fighting a defensive war against Algiers without a CB. So anyways, I'm laying siege to a enemy province when I get message saying that Brandenburg had declared war with no cb; Prussia and Portugal join in on that one. I shrug that off because I knew they wouldn't be able to reach me for quite some time. Plus, my navy would hold them at bay even if they did try coming for me. Yet again some time later, I get another notification about Aragon declaring holy war on me and another declaration of war from Morocco without a cb. Somewhere in that chaotic madness Urbino warned me and I ragequitted the game. I'm fully westernized except for the final military modernization part. It would've been next to impossible fighting off all these European doom stacks with my Muslim army tech.
I must ask how the hell does one keep up with other nations when it comes to Tech? I'm always just behind no matter what I do.
Good idea to focus your investment into 1 or 2 tech at a time to give you the edge over others. OPMs and the like always manage to shoot their way through tech quickly, so you're more likely to get tech faster if you're a small nation.
I always invested into infrastructure techs, followed by trade ones. This lead to me having a 1820 standards economy by the year 1700, but a military from the 1500s. I did not regret this.
I go 100% government at the very beginning to get the national idea, then split it evenly after that. You know, because technologies you're ahead in have a massive penalty to growth, so specializing in one is a complete waste of money if you're not trying to quickly get something specific. Although I guess if you're playing a non-Western tech group country it's reasonable.
Any specific stratergies for the Earl of Dublin starting off at 1066. I know my father is the Duke of Leinster, so I get that when he dies..any other starting moves I should do? Should I marry my heir?
