HoI3 was the hardest for me to get into, I got into EU3, Vicky2 and CKII easily. I don't know why, HoI3 is kind of boring to me in comparison to the other games, even at full speed.
I really want to learn HoI III but then i see the OOB and die a little inside..
I'm surprised I even know how to play Victoria: Revolutions.
Paradox games get easier to learn with each one you play, but you still have to learn them. It's really just getting used to the mechanics of the way paradox makes it's games.
What DLC do you guys recommend for CK2 other then the Expansions?
What DLC do you guys recommend for CK2 other then the Expansions?
Well, first off. I'll tell you to never get the dynasty crest packs, and instead just download the Armory mod on the ck2 forums.
Besides the expansions, the music packs are nice, if they're cheap, why not, the face packs are kinda necessary for africans and mongols, the Russian one isn't really necessary, but it adds flavor I guess. Get the Ruler designer for sure.
Ruler Designer can be good if you wish to start your own story. Be warned though.. it erases the character you use it on, so there is no editing a existing noble.
Why does Victoria 2 even bother having Dice Rolls if the game always cheats?
I was Japan fighting America and in every single battle I lost about men at an 8:1 ratio, now why the fuck does my army lack the fucking competance to simply kill while the Americans can shoot fucking lasers out of their fingers?

Are you throwing irregulars against machine-gun fortified guards by any chance?

Unlike EU3 there's a lot of factors in Victoria 2's combat aside from numbers, you also have to factor in leadership, orginatisation, equipment, morale (I think a few things affect morale), unit type and army composition.
You also have to consider terrain, fortifications, supply limits and attrition and shit, as well as whether or not you're attacking over rivers or from landing craft. Mountains can be a real pain to assault.

Now you tell me. There goes the King of England.

So I have a bit of a Reactionary problem which has resulted in my scrapped save being overwhelmed by thousands of rebels.
I noticed however a bit of a statistical problem with this.
The game claims there are 700k reactionary rebels ready to mobilize out of my population of two million. This would imply there are about 33% of my population who are willing to join a rebellion.
If you look at the nearby people's parties however, there is more like 9% Reactionary, which would imply a population of about 200k reactionaries.
So my question is HOW THE FUCK ARE THERE 500k REBELS THAT HAVE SPAWNED OUT OF THIN FUCKING AIR.
I literally cannot stop the sheer piles of rebels that have spawned, can anyone explain this and maybe provide some console commands to lower militancy and avoid this bullshit?

wait you mean it permanently erases the character?
so if i create a new dynasty for castille that new dynasty will always be there?
No. It erases it for the set game. If you want to start as the king of england in the ruler designer, the current king is erased for that save.

Did you update? You should update.
Big rebels used to be a problem in the earlier versions of Victoria 2. However, as of the recent patches they will rise less frequently and some rebellions will "taper out" automatically.

Yeah, that's very possible. Pops tend to move to whatever rebel faction they most agree with and in the early stages, that's almost always reactionary. They may not follow the ideology strictly, but they're doing something about it and that's all that matters.
If you go into your population menu, it gives you the option to sort by rebel faction, as well as letting you see what is contributing to the militancy of those pops i.e. what you need to fix. There's a good chance you pissed off the farmers in one of your larger provinces and reactionary just happened to be the first thing that came to mind.
So I thought I was getting the hang of Hearts of Iron III. I was playing Canada, had a quite stable economy, my political party was the favorite by far, and I had built up a very respectable military for myself. So when WWII rolls around, I join the British and declare war. I send my eighty thousand soldiers to Halifax and embark for Europe. Except I can't reach them. No matter what I do, I can't get to Europe from Canada. At one point I went into the Caribbean hoping to cross to Africa then go north. Still not close enough. I ended up occupying Vichy French territory in South America. Then I went home and dismissed my army, giving up my hopes of becoming the hero of the war, who had saved the British from disaster during the Liberation of Norway.
Then I found out today that I just needed to upgrade my ships. Maybe I'll just stick to Crusader Kings for now.

actually i'm pretty sure the ruler and their family become your courtiers

Also if you're by the stage with chemical warfare, not being able to defend against it can be indescribably devastating.
I'm doing a hands off game in CK2, I have Kings in Denmark, Aragon, England and Galcia(Spain), all descended from a King I made to replace William the Conqueror
Although the current King of England took the crown from his Nephew.
Damn, the heir of the throne of Denmark is going to be the Queen Dynasty.
I remember seeing a mod called Beware the Mormon Horde on the CK2 forums.
I wonder if they'll make one for the Presidential Elections when the new republic DLC comes out.

Ok, so I won the first civil war by the skin of my teeth, but this is just getting stupid.
Am I supposed to seriously believe that somehow 1.7 out of 1.8 million fucking people are all rebel supporters? It's not like they are starving either, I've done nothing but raise the standard of living in this shithole since I started. Such Ingrates.
Any advice on what could possibly be causing this? It's fair to note that the actual number of rebel brigades sticks around 150, so is it just support for them, or am I really fucked next time they decide to rebel?

Go to the population menu, select the entire country, sort by rebel faction and post an image. Also mouse-over their militancy and see what is causing it. We can solve this, let's just see how it goes.
And if it all goes pear-shaped, having a Presidential dictatorship isn't so bad.
