I missed something somewhere, but the Emperor of Britannia just inherited the the Throne of the Holy Roman Empire
[editline]21st December 2012[/editline]
I loaded an earlier autosave.. Britannia was at war with the HRE, the war goal was to claim the HRE. Britannia has weak claims on the HRE and the Byzantine Empire
[editline]21st December 2012[/editline]
The Emperor died, and Britannia broke.
[editline]21st December 2012[/editline]
the heck, the Emperor of the newly reformed HRE is a Muslim.
[editline]21st December 2012[/editline]
the golden horde is Orthodox Christianity, shit is getting weird.

It didn't last more then 2 Emperors, then they went back to being Catholic. I went to bed and let the game play itself from 1290s - 1453
1291

Dynasty map at endgame (the red is the Barnes is the family I created, started with a single king of England I made to replace William the Conqueror, also looking back through the family tree, some point we had a couple of mongols in the fmaily)

So I decided to go from Vicky 2 to HoI III.... This is confusing.
Why does Victoria 2 even bother having Dice Rolls if the game always cheats?
I was Japan fighting America and in every single battle I lost about men at an 8:1 ratio, now why the fuck does my army lack the fucking competance to simply kill while the Americans can shoot fucking lasers out of their fingers?
I thought it was just Japan but after facing Prussia as Austria and losing at a 100:1 ratio makes me convinced that this game needs a fuck-ton of fixing right now.

You haven't responded to any of the posts in this thread. In all likelihood you're attacking nations with machine gun, fortifications, time to dig in, and gas attack capability

It was 1836... and they attacked me.
It was 1836... and they attacked me.
Then take a picture of the battle itself and look at the modifiers
Why the fuck are you even fighting Prussia as Austria in 1836? You'll barely make it out alive, even if you [del]sucked Russia's dick[/del] increased your relations with other nearby GP's to the point when they'll decided to become your ally. Build up your army a bit more, then come back when the melting pot has all it's holes welded shut.
So I'm finishing up my EU3 game and its the steam christmas sale. Should I get HOI3 or Vicky 2? HOI3 has a more interesting setting to me, but vicky 2 looks way easier to get into, coming from EU3.

I suggest you get both if they're at a large discount. Don't forget all the expansions as well.
Anyhow, since you're an EU3 player you'll probably break a part of your brain by just looking at the starting units in HOI3, so I suggest you mess around in Victoria 2 until you conquer the world.
Get both of them and CK2!
Get CK2.
I don't like the way CK2 seems to work
it seems like its more focused on maintaining a family rather than a nation
[editline]21st December 2012[/editline]
the posts around here make it seem that way anyway

if you're more interested in hoi3 get hoi3. that should be a no brainer.
hoi3 is only confusing until you realize it's a warfare simulator rather than a "running a nation simulator" like eu3.
[editline]21st December 2012[/editline]
and hoi3 will be confusing whether you come at it from just eu3 or eu3 + vicky2. it isn't like vicky2 will give you a boost up on the learning curve.

It's about creating a strong and powerful realm by being a successful infant killing, saber rattling, duke assassinating, peasant assimilating emperor whose bloodline went from owning some shithole in Rus to running a married merge of HRE and ERE.
How can I increase the likelihood of getting Liberals into UH/elected party as a democracy?
How can I increase the likelihood of getting Liberals into UH/elected party as a democracy?
Victoria 2? Set national focus to promote liberal parties.
How can I increase the likelihood of getting Liberals into UH/elected party as a democracy?
Try to encourage the growth of clerks, capitalists, factory workers (early ingame), who tend to be liberal.
National focus to encourage people to vote for liberal leaning parties too (starting in biggest provinces).
Also when it comes to introducing reforms, introduce the reform with least support, then proceed in that manner till you introduce the most demanded reform. (This method might result in liberal rebels)
Victoria 2? Set national focus to promote liberal parties.
I recall doing exactly this in a previous game of mine, and even though I had Liberal strongholds in basically every region I still had Conservatives win elections.

Artisans tend to be liberal, I say go for it.
Oh wow. That vid made me want to play HoI 3 and figure it out.

How the fuck do i play CK2
Are you implying that the whole planet didn't go "PROTECT THE POLES"?
"PROTECT THE POLES! by sitting behind the maginot line for a few months"
doing a DH game, war lasts longer then normal, 1947 the July 20th Plot against hit succeeds, Soviets break through and annex most of eastern Europe, US lands in the low countries, Soviet Union annexes Germany, most of German occupied France is handed to the Italians, France Collapsed ceases to exist, all their territories become free nations, third of mainland France is controlled by Algeria, other 2 thirds by Italy with the Allies cut off because of Algeria. Also because its 1948, events fire causing Israel, the Allied Occupied Zone and Soviet Occupied zone to be formed, even through the war is still technically going on.

Soviet union has annexed Italy, declared war on Japan, japan is invading Sicily and Greece.
the Americans have had nukes for 2-3 years, they only used 2, both on Germany in 1945.

Play it historically and avoid Germany's fuck ups, you'll do fine.
i.e. Holding force in the west. Core forces go east and smash up poland. Then go north and take on Denmark/maybe Norway depending on how historical you want to get. The Allies generally won't re-land there, so if you want to grab some free IC (you do), take it and leave a few divisions up there to hold onto it. Then concentrate your forces west, and come the spring/summer of 1940... roll the panzers through the ardennes.
