Did they add that just so everyone would say "They can't be serious with this shit." while checking the game files?
I heard they added it in an AHD Patch in response to Civ5 adding Babylon as DLC.

Italy is trying to acquire North West England

one player (tuscany) rage quitted after i performed an embargo on him for insulting my glorious nation.

Heard? I just checked, it's in there vanilla. Along with a "Build the tower of Babylon." decision.
I suck at Europa 3, I fucking suck. I can never win at anything I do, everytime I declare war on Scotland they always beat me by somehow spawning 12 stacks of an army out of nowhere every few months and beat me.
Heh, played a HoI3 game as Germany, where I practically owned all of Europe excluding Spain, Portugal, the Eastern-European Axis Powers and Luxembourg.
Yes, I took over the Swiss rather than the Luxies.
They were this tiny blue dot in a sea of fascism.

Vanilla AHD or Vanilla Vic2?
I read on the forums that Paradox added it to Vic2 in a patch as a response to Civ5 as a joke or something.
Might just have been a rumour.
France is slowly taking Spain, my images are from A Pop Divided

It's V2:AHD. No changes made to vanilla, it's there.
Is it possible to port games from Vicky 2 over to HoI 3?
Is it possible to port games from Vicky 2 over to HoI 3?
Yep. You better filter out all the nations, tho. I had to bloat Afghanistan all over Central Asia for it to work.
im doing an axis Sweden campaign in HoI 3

conquered all of my neighbors besides denmark (well actually I got copenhagen but then the germans beat me to it) and now I'm planning on invading ireland and moving onto the UK and i'm prayyyinng the soviets wont move on me because I really won't be able to defend against a soviet invasion
my armies are two 5-division corps of inf with light tanks/armored cars/art brigades attached and for the most part it's working out
I love this game so much
Can you get a real sandbox game in Hearts of Iron III, or are you doomed to repeat WWII no matter what?
Can you get a real sandbox game in Hearts of Iron III, or are you doomed to repeat WWII no matter what?
It's pretty sandboxy but unless you play as germany there are some events you won't really be able to prevent like the fall of france and poland for instance (unless you play as france, in which case you can change history and stuff, which is always fun) And playing as germany means you can literally avoid WWII altogether for the fuck of it or wage it while avoiding germany's fuck-ups and actually conquer all of europe or even the world
you could play as australia and since you're relatively untouched during WWII you can raise up a large army and ship it to say, Africa and end the fight there and boot the Italian out way quicker than in actual WWII
you can also do funny stuff like Axis USA
so to answer your question yes you can but it depends on what country you pick
last example being Nationalist China which is always doomed to defend against Japan HOWEVER you get a massive amount of manpower so holding your borders will be easy and you can then possibly pursue a peace treaty with Japan which would leave you unbothered to conquer your neighbor nations and unite China once more

Yeah I tried playing Australia. Invaded and conquered New Zealand and I'm currently building up for the Aussie invasion of Dutch Southeast Asia.
I was hoping for a total blank slate mode though. Maybe there's a mod for it.
Russia sends very little to the Finnish front.
yeah right now the Germans are doing barbarossa so they pretty much withdrew all their forces from my border which is great.
I'm in the middle of an invasion of the UK which seems to be going alright but I'm not all too positive on a victory here which is actually OK because I have relative naval superiority and I can retreat my army back to sweden to help the Germans with the Soviets assuming their T34's won't steamroll my light armor supported divisions
also for some reason Japan put up a resistance base in an area controlled by some norwegian rebels that I never bothered to deal with

Oh. Might just get that then.
It isn't actually. There's just this so called "custom game mode" that is actually hilariously restrictive and gives you 2 basic choices:
Neutral or Not Neutral
isn't there a random map generator as well? i haven't used it but it might be fun to create new scenarios.
I'm thinking of buying some of these games since they're on sale. Which Hearts of Iron and Europa Universalis do you guys recommend?

always get the latest if you can run it.
there's no reason to get an old hoi or eu
[editline]27th December 2012[/editline]
and make sure it's eu3 chronicles.
what he means by the last bit there is that if you buy EU3, get chronicles. Complete is NOT complete, chronicles has all the expansions. Complete only has two.
Yeah, when it comes to buying EU3 remember Complete is NOT complete, however Chronicles is.
Is there a HOI3 bundle that has all the expansions?
Is there a HOI3 bundle that has all the expansions?
not as far as i'm aware.
you can press "buy all dlc" if you consider that a bundle =)
I can't play CK2 on my laptop. The launcher doesn't list the DLCs I have and when I try to launch the game it displays an "unhandled exception" error and the only thing I can do is close the program. Help.
(I've already reinstalled and verified the files)
Amazon had a Hearts of Iron 3 Chronicles bundle a while back.

It's not that restrictive if you know how to use it.
Protip: remove unnecessary harbours and airfields if possible, they give loads of IC points you can invest in an actual army.
You can pick tech that isn't worthless to your nation.
I'm currently playing as Republican Spain and doing a hundred times better than I could've without TFH.

It works now. Apparently my antivirus really hated ck2.exe

I have this as well, and I'm unable to choose my mods. This only happens when I update to the newest patch. True vanillla doesn't do this.
