Ok I started up a game as the king of Scotland in CK2.
I have a civil war every five years, and I won the last one because the lord who bought mercenaries to assist him ended up declaring war on him after he ran out of money.
I then assassinated a 2 year old girl to claim the country of Carrick, followed by getting excommunicated and seizing the lands and titles of half of everybody in the kingdom.
I then received the title "King Duncan the Good".
I was titled "The Cruel" despite dropping taxes to an absolute low and being a fair and just ruler. All because I executed one son who wouldn't stop raising rebellions. And one time I got "The Scared" (Or something like that) ten seconds before dying in battle.

Obviously, I couldn't let that happen, and so I annexed them. All of them.
My friend found out the hard way that The Saxons expect to be paid on time.

Shit, mercs can conquer land for themselves? Someone should really make a good kingdom for the templar knights then
Templars are a different thing, they normally already have land if Jerusalem exists. And holy orders dont really get paid.

If there's a Crusader State Holy Orders have castles donated to them and act as vassals.

your incan empire is very impressing, did you just sit and do slider changes waiting for the europeans to arrive for you to westernize? how did you make sure they simply didnt annex you from the first encounter?

Build up money and spam it in their faces once they border?
How did you manage to do that with the tech disadvantage?
Build up money and spam it in their faces once they border?
its difficult enough bordering a european nation as a muslim, even with 200+ relations with castille as Tunisia or something they keep attacking you anyway.
plus, as a pagan, europeans can annex you no matter how large you are, so it's even worse
How did you manage to do that with the tech disadvantage?
100 years of savings from what I gather
without any neighbors or the ability to construct buildings it's actually hard to find things to spend money on as the Inca before you meet the Euros

His son inherited some years later and after sitting on the throne for perhaps three years, the HRE invaded again and while proving his skill in battle, he too was dubbed the Lionheart. Seconds later it was announced a Holy Roman warhammer was slammed into his head sending him into a coma. He died a few days later...
AND SO ENDED THE LIONHEART TITLE IN HUNGARY
your incan empire is very impressing, did you just sit and do slider changes waiting for the europeans to arrive for you to westernize? how did you make sure they simply didnt annex you from the first encounter?
Before the game started, I went to war against the small one-province minor that is in the middle of Inca.
After taking them over, I simply waited. Regularly collecting war taxes when Maya or Aztec (who for some reason, I couldn't see, but they could see me), called me into a war.
I got my sliders up, and my money coming in, and when I started to find random provinces in europe, I just spent my money on building relations to 200 and getting alliances. Eventually I was able to westernise, and I sold Portugal (whom I had an alliance with) a province next to me so I could westernise.
Straight after westernising, I started producing some boats, and did the best thing I could: Harassing Africa. I invaded Mali after sailing my men all the way around (sticking to coasts to avoid attrition and only crossing ocean once) I basically started constructing my empire, taking over the north and invading Morocco.
It was at that time when my stability was low, I got rebels, not ordinary rebels. Heathen Zealots. I let them capture a province and then, bam, converted to catholic. (For some reason the provinces I captured from Morocco were catholic. I think Castille had forced them to convert or something.)
Anyway, that was me westernised and catholic. The money was coming in and my tech was in the 14s. This was about mid-1600s though, so I had to just rush everything I could.
whats the tale behind magna mundi
i know that it got cancelled and it didn't reach the light of day beyond a leak
This is what happened when I forced Germany and China to be allies in 1936, other then that I touched nothing, it was hands off

Japan declared war on China in '36, which in turn meant they declared war on Germany causing none of Germany's European events to fire (Anschluss of Austria, Treaty of Munich etc.), China and Germany were the only Axis powers until '41 when Italy and Romania joined.
Soviet Union declared war and conquered Poland in '41, Japan attacked Pearl in September '41 dragging the US and the allies against them. (Germany was still only at war with Japan)
Germany declared war on the Soviet Union in '43 and easily forced them to an Armistice them because their troops had been being built up since '36 and had no-one to fight (None of their Naval ships would leave their waters they just sailed in circles). In '46 Germany declared war again and annexed the rest of the SU which means they were finally able to send troops to China which turned the tide of war in Asia.
The war against Japan finally ended in '49 with the nuking of Nagasaki by the USA (before that all the US nuked was Japan's Chinese puppet nations). Immediately after Japan declared peace with everyone Germany's 1930s Peace time events started firing, they annexed the Rhineland, Austria and Czechoslovakia.
1951 Germany declared war on the Allies and then it went down hill from there, I don't remember any notable events but the scenario ended with war still raging, Sweden has invaded the UK and the UK's dissent is high due to Germany's nukes. Germany also managed to build one ICBM and nuke Washington before it ended.
Allies and Axis

does anyone else get glitched unit sprites in hoi 3
Manchu is piss easy in EU3. Once you get constables and [del]suck the dick[/del] be friends with Ming, you get craptons of cash and plenty of influence on the far-reaching European powers.
does anyone else get glitched unit sprites in hoi 3
I don't even have unit sprites.
So, ownederd, how's playing as Belgium working out for you in HoI3? :v:
unit sprites are for casual babies
So I've bought CK II today and this is my first strategy Paradox game. It's really great so far, but there's one thing that keeps bugging me - the game runs kind of slow. Is there a way to optimize it?
I played as granada and i've conquered my way across most of iberia but now I'm crawling with rebels and people declare war on me every few years :c
I tried negotiating with catholic zealots to convert to catholic but it wouldn't let me
unit sprites are for casual babies
I just meant I had no idea there were unit sprites.

how?
tell me your secrets
granada is one of the few countries ive never been able to play, whatever i do in all mp games as granada is: "ok, before unpausing i have to declare war on some tiny orthodox nation...hey sardinia looks kind of good" and then the first day i unpause castille declares war on me, blocks and liquidate my fleet and then im dead.
i mean even if i ever did annex a tiny nation, castille would just take over that too. wallachia is probably the best option

I'm playing DAO+mismods, you start with a truce
although I did once read a guide for doing it in vanilla. from what I can remember, before you unpause you have to take out 3 (yes, 3) loans and set minting to full, then basically go and siege as many provinces as you can while avoiding Castille's stacks. when you have captured a province you can hire mercs from it I think, then go back and fight their armies. get as many provinces as you can in the peace deal, then immediately declare war on them again - the stability hit is the least of your worries. do this until you're maybe 1/3 their size and then deal with the rebels and broken economy. it's really boom or bust. even with the truce version of the game I had to save and reload dozens of times
This might not be the most popular game among the list of Paradox Interactive, but has anyone played Warlock Master of the Arcane?
Due to the sale I might want to grab it, I was a huge fan of Master of Magic back in the day.
I played that game a ton when it came out, I picked up all the new DLC with the sale but I haven't had a chance to play it yet. Its an awesome game but when I played it I didn't think it was quite as good as something like the Fall From Heaven 2 mod for Civ 4.
