Just tried out the demo for Warlock - Master of the Arcane. Very fun!
It looks like a fantasy style civ 5
I wish to get into one of these awesome games but the idea of an end date really puts me off. Is there any grand strategy paradox game that doesn't have an end date?
You can download an No-Time-Limit mod for EU3. And it's easily changeable in the game files.

It has really awesome mechanics, like magic systems and monster lairs.
Austria player managed to form HRE in the mp game I'm in. The Peninsula has been a total mess for the last 100 years. :v:
I wish to get into one of these awesome games but the idea of an end date really puts me off. Is there any grand strategy paradox game that doesn't have an end date?
There are multiple mods that extend the enddate or eliminate it completely.
We did have a France player for some time but he quit playing. Right now there's just 4 of us: Russia, Netherlands, Poland & HRE. Naturally, Netherlands and I formed a anti-HRE alliance to ensure France's independence.
How far is Russia behind HRE tech wise?
Have a game of EU3: DW as Holland, rich as hell from trading but suffering from high inflation. Had all the territory to form the Netherlands except Utretch, who was my vassal, and I wanted to annex them, but I had to leave the HRE and lose them as my vassal before I could get a mission which would core that territory because Bavaria, the Holy Roman Emperor, was about to make everybody their vassal. And now my entire EU3 fucked itself and I have to reinstall the bugger.
Russia is somewhat behind in tech but now they're slowly catching up since they were able to westernize. Military wise, Russia is still in the Eastern tech group I think.
Russia is somewhat behind in tech but now they're slowly catching up since they were able to westernize.
Speaking of Austria: Is it expected for Austria to become some big bogeyman for you if you intend on playing the Teutonic Order, or any Eastern European faction for that matter?
If you have Lucky Nations on then yeah, more than likely it has a technical advantage over you and most small AI nations.
So how similar is Warlock - Master of the Arcane to the Fall from Heaven II mod for Civ IV? Because that's what my wildest dreams are if you told me they're making a fantasy thing that's a lot like Civ V.

He's dealing with endless waves of rebels as it is and a major war would only cripple him even more. I have a entire army devoted to clearing out Russian rebels, I wouldn' want things to get even more out of hand.

There are a few differences but the general feel is still there and I lost an hour an a half to the demo before I realised it.
Yeah, I gave it a go myself and it seems pretty solid. I'm a little concerned over the lack of races, though. IIRC there's three races, which is a little lacking imo.
It's unfortunate, I'd only hope they would increase the variety of races through DLC or something. Having anything at all like the Illians or Infernal would be an instant purchase for me.
I suppose what'll make or break Warlock is how good its modding support is. I've yet to play a Paradox game that had bad modding support so I'm pretty hopeful in this regard. I played the Demo and it's a fun game on its own, but if there's a huge amount of custom user made content like races then it'll go from being a good game to a great game.

I didn't realize you could play this competitively... since you know, starting positions aren't exactly "balanced".

The game reminds me a lot of Master of Magic and Age of Wonders, pretty neat!

HRE doesn't have much of a opportunity to expand anywhere else, considering that the America's are pretty loaded right now and he won't have the tech to reach the wealthy provinces in Asia and whatnot.
I recall someone mentioning that a few of you guys were doing a MP game, I'd be willing to join once my COMS cd-key thing gets resolved

Kaiserreich mod is fucking awesome, here is a picture of my glorious German Empire: Notes: -Allied with Ukraine, Mittelafrika, Qing Empire, Netherlands (invaded them, but proved very helpful), Denmark, Lithuania and Russia every now and again. -Stalemate on the Western Front for like 5-6 years, got mad and spammed Milita troops en masse and pushed them out -I own Europe, allowed Ukraine to expand into Persia, Middle East and Asia a bit (I control their army) -Slowly wiping out Asian controls that aren't my allies -Can't be fucked invading England -South America is threatening my sovereignty (Nope, I want South America to myself) -Don't give a shit about Ocenaia I have around 10 years left, plenty of time to rule the world The most micromanaging I had to do was: -Invading Kingdom of Serbia, Romania, Croatia and Bulgaria at the same time -Invading Egypt, Turkey, Persia, Armenia and Azerbaijan , Saudi Arabia at the same time -Invading Siam, Bhutan, and god knows how many Asian Countries
EU3?
Yes, sorry, EU3
Anyone got some good mods that add upon EU3's base game and works with EU3's latest expansion?
Quite an interesting multiplayer game a friend and I are having (I'm germany). Some pretty strange countries have grown large.

Otherwise, I haven't modded EU3DW too much.
Yes, sorry, EU3
Add me on steam and give me a shout when ever you see I'm on, and I'll see what I can do for you. I've been playing it over the course of about two months, but only at 30 minutes at a time. I'm playing as Germany and hoping to win. I actually played as the United States once in one, but the war dragged on well into WWII and even further. It never fucking ended.
