So what do you guys think of the new republic dlc for crusader kings 2?
It's pretty good. Only problem is that it's broken all the mods for another week.
Has anybody tried putting any of these games on an SSD? I don't know whether it's my RAM or my HDD that's slowing everything down. With 4 gigs of RAM my game seriously crawls around mid-late 1945 in HoI3.
HoI3 always slows down at the end. I have 6GB RAM and I still slow to a turtle's pace.

That's why I was asking if putting it on an SSD would help at all.
Since Steam added the install path selection, I could just throw all my Paradox games in a separate steamapps folder on my SSD, right?

It's a little unbalanced, in my opinion. I'm playing as a republic at the moment and I have enough money to literally buy my way out of anything. I can afford to hire every mercenary in europe and if someone rebels against me I'm rich enough to hire infinity assassins.
Yeah that's kind of how it was. The reason they kept existing was that they had the princes by the balls and had the military might to ensure their independence.
So I ported over my CK2 save to EU3 and played for a while. Back in CK2, I decided to spare Cyprus, as it was a frequently unstable island nation with two counties, made out of a count and a duke which constantly fought against each other. It's been thirty years since a new age in my grand campaign started.

...and it established a fucking colony already. How did they even go across my territory!?

I don't think it would help a lot. IIRC it's more dependent on processor speed and RAM.
But of course stuff would load faster, so if you want to play quicker, go ahead.
Also, I'm trying to do a WC as a fully democratic USA in Kaiserreich. Currently got pretty much the entire Americas except for Cuba etc. and just finished off northern Africa/Ottomans. Now it's off to Austria and minions to try and carve a path to Germany/Italian Federation.

Enjoy
Polling time.
After the death of my latest king, my heir took the throne, and I had to take control of his current Holy War. This was annoying to me as I was tired of expanding and wanted to promote a stronger Greek Hegemony at home as opposed to a Pseudo-Russian Empire. Yet I had been slightly role playing each character and seeing as he was so inclined to conquer the Tengri, I decided to say fuck it and launch a campaign I call the "Great Crusade".

The campaign has lasted for around 10 years now. It started at the borders of Hungary and I've pushing further east ever since. We had a set back in our time though, at a failed attempt at conquering mountainous areas held by a rebellious Byzantine Doux. This culminated with the death of many Greek troops and Mercenaries so I've had to give some time for both to recover for usage. But with so little time left, I will begin to enact my final plans just before the game ends.
I will conquer the land I surround in Rus and try to establish the border at Perm. The question is for what am I to do come EU3, we all know how that game handles rebels... These provinces will almost always be revolting, and trying to convert them all will be a major task. I'd try and reform an actual Russia, the fact is though, the Mongols have almost destroyed the Russians entirely over the course of their stay. They left the Russians with fewer people than Poland. Now I see only three logical options of proceeding.
The first option is to simply hold it. Why shouldn't I hold it? Where the Rus has failed I've conquered, I alone am the only one holding up the torch against Catholics, Muslim, and Pagans and that fire still burns on. The Great Bear may have failed, but surely Greece could tame these savages.
Another would be more to the benefit of the Byzantium, I don't hate the Empire, despite our religious differences the Empire has been apart of my dynasty for hundreds of years, we could see it restored to a more proper position by giving it a great deal of land to rule, and if I were to simply claim it for my wife at this moment, we wouldn't be on such bad terms either.
Finally, I can create puppets using the pocket area; dividing up the land enough so neither becomes too strong. Though, this leads to another question of how many to make, and while these states would by far be more effective in administration, they might simply reject our religious customs and culture.
So Facepunch, since I'm a poor daft bastard who has no self-initiative, I'll let you decide the result of the Great Crusade.

Reinstalled CK2 after i got my new pc recently. Started another game as Poland. Whitin the first 25 years i have had 2 civil wars. One was because i cant remember and the other is because this vassal was bitching at me for elective succsession. Probably because he wanted to become the king. And now some pagan nation decleared war on me. I do not have enough troops to deal whit this.
My BrandenPrussian Empire is getting pretty big, although expanding into the HRE is a pain. Denmark is currently Holy Roman Emperor and chances are I'll never be elected despite being an elector because I converted to Protestantism rather than Reformation
I'm really not looking forward to fighting Austria.

How did Byzantium get so large? Or was that a converted game from CK2?
Since everyone is doing it, here is my CK2+ game. Playing as the al-Saqir Emir of Zaragoza (+Cordoba, Valencia, Grenada) leading my own separatist war from the Almoravid. My grandfather Abdul-Hakam of Valencia performed a palace coup against the Hudid Emirs of Zaragoza/Valencia around 1086 because they weren't going to submit to the Almoravids who had just begun to conquer the other Muslim taifa kingdoms and were the best protection against the Christians. Now its 1140 and nobody likes the current Sultan because of his high crown authority so, as an ambitious and extremely martial Emir, I figured I had a better claim to rule al-Andalus.

Also conveniently, Castille and Aragon are squabbling over Navarre so it's the perfect opportunity.

Transylvania had independence for about a century before Byzantium inherited it via succession. They've since lost it but it gave them enough strength to last against being destroyed entirely.

Wow, their size is pretty impressive for only lasting against being destroyed although I can sorta see their eastern border. Also the Milanese migration to southern England is lol

Wait, they weren't destroyed. They're doing even better than they were before.

Good luck with the Holy Roman Empire vs Roman Empire wars.
Oh man I just hated myself again because I didn't have victoria 2 on steam, but on amazon. I tried to enter the key (again), and it's not a steam-key. Well I was pissed on that and did some googling.

Awesome, wish I had bought the pack.
Awesome, wish I had bought the pack.
To be clear these items were already included in the pack, they just weren't redeemable on steam.
So I see everyone is able to convert their save games to the next game in the timeline. Where does everyone get these? Links to the download? Is there a CK2->EU3->V2->HoI3 savegame converter? That would be awesome if there was.
