Paradox sounds like they are doing the Vicky expansions the same way as in the original.
The original Victoria had starting dates in 1836, 1861, 1881 and 1914.
I am guessing their final expansion to Vicky 2 will be a World War 1 probs.
I thought one of the devs confirmed there was not going to be a new Start Date?

In the original Vicky there's a Scramble for Africa scenario starting in 1881.
Turns out my newspapers prediction was correct:

Judging by some other screenshots revolts will be handled considerably better, with the great powers being able to tangle into the mess.
Awesome, knew you had to be right! My only wish is that it doesn't use game acronyms like CB if the idea behind it is immersion and information.
Now this picture is just awesome.

Or alternatively "Umayyid's gonna kill everyone!"
while 867 is a new start date, you can not choose any date between 867 and 1066

Not even decline, they were on complete a downwards drop in the 8th century. By the new start they were only really recovering and they didn't reclaim the Khalifa title until later on even
Mkay I need some help with Vicky 2, just got it in that indie gala deal, just started playing as Transvasaal or however you spell it since someone recommended that as a beginner nation. I'm confused as to how I increase the amount of brigades I can raise as well as other basic things like that.
I know most people would like to start out as a super huge nation but I'd much rather start small and learn like that, similar to the Ireland count method in CK2.
I wonder how the EvW developers are going to account for nuclear fallout

Japan is best asiaman nation.
I've always had a problem playing as Japan, I have no clue why.
I just had the most boring game of V2, I was playing as France and Prussia never tried to get Alsace-lorraine, America never had a civil war or even attacked Mexico, Russia, Prussia or Austria never had a war. I'm just sitting here wanting for someone to DoW someone else to make something happen.
paradox has spilled the beans

All you really have to do in order to beat the Chinese countries (atleast along the coast) is build up a fleet of assault crafts and do lots of Invasions off the coast.
Lots of the time China will completely forget to put units in its ports and they are easy taking, its even better because many of their ports are very close to their cities including their capital.
[t]http://i.cubeupload.com/7PUl6a.jpg[/t]
I've taken all of China's ports and decimated their navy just with two invasions and the main push from Manchuria. The only real thing stopping me is that I don't have enough men in the South.
I've actually landed more reinforcements in my Guangxi Clique invasion which should bolster my defenses in the far south and allow my northern units to push downward and my south eastern units to provide a land route to the south.
After that I'm going to transfer some men from the north to the south and push for their southern cities.
Too many expansions to buy, too many games to play, too many mods to keep up-to-date, too much stuff when it comes to paradox games.
Great work, but too much too fast for me. Anyone else getting this feeling?
[editline]31st January 2013[/editline]
There's EvW, the new CK2 DLC, Heart of Darkness, EU IV, and the constant up-to-dating of mods to be compatible with new dlc, and the constant news about how I'll have to spend money to buy their next strategy game + DLC. (I know I won't have to, but for me to not have a "full" game.)
I know this is just blatant complaining, and I'm not saying I hate paradox, they're great. It's just a lot on my mind, - and my money - to keep track, and buy all of this.

I agree one-hundred-and-ten percent. I have difficulty getting any money for use online, so for me I get stuck a few years behind in Paradox Games, and how because the content comes out so quickly, I don't have reserves left over to get it.
Especially when DLC, like the Republic, costs more than I paid for the full game.
So yeah, I'm whining about too much content too frequently. Who knew it would come to this.
I'm not as excited for EUIV than I was initially. With each dev diary rolling out I was shocked to realize how much they're going to causalize the game to kingdom come. I'm really hyped for EvW and March of the Eagles though.

867 start date.
I hear byzantine boners rising.

I hear Carolingian boners rising, personally.
My Carolingian boner was set aside for a while.
There was a pretty good mod on it all.
I hear Carolingian boners rising, personally.
honestly both carolingian and byzantine boners should be in full rise now.
Would still be nice to see it go back to 500AD. I've never seen high level strategy during the late christian west and early medieval period.
Paradox is streaming The Showdown Effect. Not sure what this game is, but this is the Paradox megathread, so it's relevent.

In about 6 hours time, apparently. (4pm GMT)
I think I've played every area in CK2 except Mali and Persia so I'll probably head there when this new DLC comes out.

Mali's kinda boring. Can't even form an Empire.
Can't wait for the new DLC, will be fun to play as the Vikings and conquer the entire north.
Won't Republics be a bit over-powered, though? From what I know Genoa is non existant at the time (I don't know about Pisa or Gotland) so Venice will have way less competition in the mediterranean.
