just copy+paste the files and make a mod out of them.
God I hate the scripting but shouldn't it be something like this:
option = {
name = "EVTOPTA728"
rival_countries = {
random_owned = {
limit = {
any_neighbor_province = {
owned_by = THIS
is_core = this
}
}
add_core = THIS
}
}
prestige = 0.1
}

I think you'd need a "NOT" before the is_core part
would you mind copying the event code for us plebs to see?

country_event = {
id = 30001
is_triggered_only = no
mean_time_to_happen = {
months = 24
}
title = "EVTNAME30001"
desc = "EVTDESC30001"
option = {
name = "EVTOPTA30001"
any_neighbor_country = {
any_owned = {
limit = {

owned_by = THIS
}
}
add_core = THIS
}
}
}
}
Also here is my game after 50 years. The auto-cores seem to have helped the horde countries the most, since now succession crises are much less damaging.

the timurids will probably collapse spectacularly once the tech gap gets more pronounced though
edit
Also a side effect of having unclaimed cores everywhere is that only a handful of countries have positive prestige.
seems like the game plays to the benefit of nations that are already in a stronger position to start. it's interesting to see france and spain though, they seem to counterbalance each other and prevent each other from blobbing.

I'm wondering if Germany might form eventually.
sweden or poland seem like they might prevent that.
It would be nice if the dev diaries for EU4 stopped focusing on specific countries

wrong thread boyo
Can anyone recommend me a good mod for EU3 DW? I tried AIROTCIV and i feel dirty now, I just want a mod that adds tons of new nations and provinces and shit.
I'm going to chime in with MEIOU, I'd say its the most complete feeling mod which addresses literally every aspect of the game while keeping the same sort of feel
Sorry. Both threads have great people in them so it's easy to be confused.

YEAH RIGHT

It also goes very slowly so I couldn't bring myself to keep going on it.

Not only that but it's kinda sorta buggy. You will encounter a lot of them along the way of your slow as shit game.

The only reason it's slow is to add penalties to powergaming in the sense of a world conquest, hence the variable core granting period. It is a different kind of game from D&T/Vanilla in that I'd say it's more methodical but I think that's a positive change.
I can't say I've ever seen significant bugs though in my experience, worst cases being an already solved one from an English victory in the Hundred Years' War and historical event timing occasionally being off for later start dates. Japan is a whole other sort of problem inherited from the stupid DW mechanics.
i always felt eu3 was the "hardest" game of paradox's. not because the game mechanics are particularly challenging, but because i always feel like i'm doing nothing but watching numbers pop up every month on some map. my goal is to eventually play a game to the end date without getting bored.

Going for a full runthrough to the end is always a hard thing for me to do. Once I've built up my country into a super power, there really isn't anything you can do for the last few decades of the game beside addressing popups and the like.
I think out of like several dozen Eu3 games I did, I think I only finished one thoroughly and that was my Venice game that I carried over to Vick2 (which I'm thinking about abandoning altogether).

I felt the same way about EU3, having it go through 400 years along with brutal colonization always make me run out of steam by the 17th century and lose interest by virtue of how damn long the game is. I'm interested in taking my CK2 game through to V2 but that only is going to end up taking months and I'm not imagining being able to finish it

Ah yes. A period of great decline happened for France during the 1650's. During which they only had their capital and had to retreat to Italy and Macedonia.
I just recently picked up Crusader Kings 2 and I was wondering if it is worth it to create every duchy I can seeing as how I can only hold on to 2 and if I make someone else duke the de jure counts leave my court for his. Is the prestige worth it or am I shooting myself in the foot?
The way I see it. As a king, it's easier to have several managed duchies, then a shit ton of counts.
[editline]3rd February 2013[/editline]
And people get really friendly towards you for it.
Maybe, but when I'm going on great holy wars into the Middle East, I find it very helpful to assign landless courtiers with good martial to counties so I can holy war harder, and I'm terrified that if I make older counties into dukes I'll lose my council because I didn't notice they were de jure vassals of someone else.
Dukes can be in your court. However, any of their vassals cant be yours.
So be exceedingly careful and let my new counts be independent until they all have shitty heirs. Good to know.
I never said that. And having a good council doesn't really mean that much. It's not like your court doesn't automatically refill.

Speaking of the council, I have been wondering a bit about state stats. I get your councilor's stats affect their success rate, and I get that state diplomacy affects other ruler's opinion of you, but what about state martial, stewardship, intrigue, and learning?

Yeah, but who cares if one guy hates me if he controls a single county?

Levy reinforcement rate, overall demesne income, intrigue stuff (plots and assassination prevention), tech growth/spread
For my CK2-EU3-VC2 playthrough, I'm interfering as little as possible.

Thank you I've been clueless about that for far too long.
