Oh I forgot to mention this, but in '48 UK created Israel, 3 months later Palestine conquers them.
Which is very weird, every time that war has happened in previous games Israel has always won.
[editline]8th February 2013[/editline]
Might as well end the game now, there is nothing going on at all, most of the world is Democratic, no cold war, no chance for WW3.

WWII - BEST ENDING ACHIEVED
UK creating Israel sounds weird anyway
EU4 has a pretty map.

A lot of my friends don't understand how much I love these games, and they'll never understand how that pretty map is getting my even more exciting for what they think of as just a map simulator.
THEY'LL NEVER UNDERSTAND
[editline]8th February 2013[/editline]
Holy shit was that dynamic terrain that changes depending on the seasons?
Gamespy had a hands on with EU4
I was skeptical the first time I heard about Europa Universalis IV. Europa Universalis III was still going strong on my hard drive, and I didn't exactly see why I needed another just yet. Whatever improvements Paradox might make with EU4, they'd likely be marginal, a bit of extra polish and the odd tweaking, but not something worth getting excited about, right?
Then they let me play it. And everything I thought about EU4 went straight out the window.
It happened to CK2 within a month I believe. The SWMH map is so good that I feel really fucking weird whenever I play the base game because of patches.
Okay, reading that hands on with EU4 is getting me very, very excited.
My God the allieds are even dumber in the latest expansion of Hearts of Iron III.
British and French fleets just keep sailing into my fucking waters in 1939, into the range of my naval bombers and fighters. In several encounters I sunk six fucking battleships along with metric fucktons of other ships with the combination of Herr Raeder's pimpslapping fleet and naval bombers. I have so far only lost 4-5 destroyer squadrons, one light cruiser and one battlecruiser. Meanwhile the combined losses of combat vessels lost exceeded over 20 for allieds. Yet they keep sailing into my waters. It's like I am being invited to invade UK before I have even finished conquering Poland.

I've been looking into the new DEIOU map for CKII that was released just a few days back. Haven't tried it yet since I'm still in the middle of a game but it looks wonderful, especially considering its a SMWH sub-mod too.
[editline]8th February 2013[/editline]
Scratch that, apparently I no longer own the Sword of Islam. I went to get the latest DLC and now my save doesn't work and gives me an automatic game over for being a Muslim. I've deleted the DLC files and it still happens, has anyone had this before?

Verify integrity of game cache.
I'm making a mod of sorts and good christ, making new provinces is tedious
[editline]8th February 2013[/editline]
eu3 btw
My friends decided to play our vicky 2 save without me, letting the AI play as Mexico.
I went from rank 8 to rank 25, having 500k to 500, and they also lost the war I declared against the Central States of America.
wtf ai

Note the paltry Aztec Empire in North Africa. They landed and started capturing southern Spain but the Pope responded by immediately ordering a Crusade for Andalusia. I'm quite mad because both the Ilkhanate and Golden Horde converted to Christianity so I can't holy war their territory away.
Verify integrity of game cache.
Yeah that was exactly what fixed it. I figured out that it was that one single button after spending an hour mucking about in my DLC and mod files, bah. Thanks though!

Aww. They're focusing more on multiplayer, which means dumbing down for ease-of-use and less planning and strategy involved, as that takes pausing of the game and thinking, managing, planning.
I really don't want paradox games to move into multiplayer-orientated. Not because it's a change, but because their DLC scheme, mixed with multiplayer orientation, and grand strategy games, isn't going to turn out well, IMO.

Look on the bright side! Less bullshit when the Timurids come to pimp slap everyone.

What matters is if its good or not.
Like if its a good game, then yeah stuffs alright.
If it turns out to be crap we can probably start seriously thinking that Paradox fudged up.
I don't like the concept of Monarch Points at all. It sounds like it'll make the game really unnecessarily streamlined for a broader audience.
The only thing I like about EUIV so far is the trade notes, quite frankly. I'm also disappointed they also chose to stick to dicerolls as well. It would've been interesting to see CKII's combat mechenics at least.
Watching a game of Kasierreich for Darkest Hour, I just saw 2 things I've never seen when watching a game before:
Canada taking New England but not releasing it as its own country
The US not declaration Martial Law and having MacArthur as leader during the Civil War, they stayed Democratic with Frank Knox as president and won the Civil War in 1938.
Canada has given back Alaska to the US, but they're keeping New England, the Pacific States never declared war when they separated so they still exist.
What is the point of moving your capital in CK2?
What is the point of moving your capital in CK2?
the only purpose I've found for it is moving it to a safer location, since its worth more warscore

Do you know how fucking hard it is to organize multiplayer games and play them

tech and culture
Do you know how fucking hard it is to organize multiplayer games and play them
It's not rocket science. I used to play nothing but mp games all the time in EU3.

Yeah but you're better than me
So in Darkest Hour, I made it so the Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact never happened and the Soviet's tried to conquer Poland in '39.
June 1940 the Soviet Union is only half way through Poland, Germany declares war on Soviet Union and then France declares war on Germany.
Germany declaring war on the Soviets probably raised its threat which is what caused France to declare war.
The UK proceeded with Operation Wilfred, causing the allies to go to war with Norway.

Wonder if it's possible to get Germany to declare war on the Soviets without any intervention from the Allies.

Even being at war with the Allies is not stopping them from kicking the Soviet's asses. Although they have not made a single advance into France.
[editline]10th February 2013[/editline]
Germany just forced the Soviet's to Surrender and started subdividing the areas into Administrative zones.

CK2 basically had dicerolls as well, it was just that the effectiveness of the diceroll was determined by the Marshall Trait. Like, a guy with 20 Marshall and four stars for military leadership will get fucking gold dice rolls and steam roll shit.
Italy just randomly declared war on the Soviet Union, they're not allied with Germany or the Allies.
As soon as I said that Japan and Italy signed the Tripartite Pact
[editline]10th February 2013[/editline]
Wow, WW2 is still going, its 1949, Germany is still at peace with Russia, The allies managed to invade Spain but are being held at the Spanish-French border, and are being pushed back.
