Also Germany didn't conquer all the way to Vladivostok, they got has Far as Kazakhstan area before Russia surrendered and accepted annexation.
yea i loaded up a d&t game as castille just to see how different everything was from vanilla. i think i had spain formed by 1400. [editline]11th February 2013[/editline] is magna mundi still being supported? last i checked the manual was a broken link and most of the forum was deserted.
It's been dead since last year. You know your mod and mod team is shit when even Paradox drops the ball on you.
i don't think the team was really "shit", just not prepared to develop a full game. which sorta sucks because apparently mm was a p. cool mod way back when.
Yea I guess it wouldn't be right to say the team was crap; there were some within who had desperate hopes to save the project after all. It was the lack of strong leadership that made the project bite the bullet.
Tried my first game of HoI 3. Played as switzerland - 2 years later Germany stomped me into the ground with one move. Time to read more tutorials.
They somehow broke EU3 more than it was on release. To do that and get called out on it is amazing.
New info on EvW by Strategy Informer. http://www.strategyinformer.com/pc/eastvswestaheartsofirongame/967/preview.html http://www.strategyinformer.com/pc/eastvswestaheartsofirongame/interviews.html
Strategy Informer: Can you form your own ‘faction’? Or like Hearts of Iron Vanilla are you stuck to the pre-determined groups? Gellert Keresztes: Well, we have a system for that, and that’s using organisations. Like for example you could gave G20, the African Union, things like that... but for the base game the only Organisations we’re going to have are NATO and the Warsaw Pact. But we do have the option to form other groups aside from the factions, yeah. Strategy Informer: How have you changed the gameplay from the basic Hearts of Iron set-up? That was essentially a wargame, after-all. Gellert Keresztes: The problem with Hearts of Iron III was that it only really had depth through combat. We didn’t want players to only have just one tool for doing things; we wanted the player to have many tools to choose from just like it was during the Cold War. Take politics for example, you can support specific parties, with penalties, and depending on which Government-type you have you can even outlaw parties, so they can’t participate in the next election. This then can buy you time to work on the population and get them on your side. Or you might just want to collapse that and go into Communism, and suspend elections all together. The only way you could then get out of that is to suffer a coup, or get another nation to invade you and force your government out. So if your country drifts into either of these extremes, Communism, Fascism etc… then you can’t get them out without drastic measures. This means though that the US could go Communist, and then the next largest faction in NATO takes over. [...]It’s liked we’ve removed paratroopers as well – Paratroopers are one of the most exploitable units in the game, and we got rid of their mission types. Mainly because there weren’t really any division-level Paratrooper units at the time, and we wanted to add more meaningful combat features. For example, all of the provinces are the same size, and this gives you real progression when fighting. We’ve also altered the modifiers, in terms of combat strength. Typically a grand-strategy game would have two types of modifiers, terrain and unit, and we’ve stripped out terrain completely. A unit can’t go more than 100%, what is going 120% of speed anyway? Or 120% firepower? Is that even possible? No. So we’ve said being on a flat terrain equals 100% modifier. Any other terrain type, then depending on the unit you have, you’ll get less than 100% to various stats. And then there’s units like Engineers who give divisional bonuses to redress the penalties. Strategy Informer: What happens when the clock strikes noon? Gellert Keresztes: Come on, should I give that away? Strategy Informer: Well, one can assume something bad happens, but it’s not an automatic ‘Game Over’ or anything? Gellert Keresztes: You never get to ‘Game Over’, unless you reach the end of the game-time or if you lose your nation completely, depending on how we do that. But you can get nuclear annihilation. All it would take is 30,000 warheads to hit every province in the game twice.
Doing a grand Campaign in Darkest Hour WW1 turned out nearly identical, except Russia didn't turn communist. Come 1932 though, the US just finished researching 1937 Fighter Interceptors... What. They must have had a few breakthroughs in the fighter area.

But I am suprised germany invaded him, unless he joined the/a side/allies.
OK, trying Miscmods with EU3 and playing as a Native American Tribe. Never done so before so this ought to be pretty interesting.

I wonder where that Military parade is in that EvW Wallpaper, I don't think its Red Square, never seen a building like that while I was there. Could be another part of Moscow, or another city all together. Or maybe the building doesn't exist anymore.
fuck I shouldn't have got too big for my boots, my infamy is sky-high and everyone wants to dogpile on me [t]http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/902113880323357388/C270C42B748DFF0851139DBEFF4A9ED38BAE7087/?.jpg[/t] though in fairness it must be pretty scary for christendom to see me pretty much double in size in just 16 years [editline]12th February 2013[/editline] I later occupied Wien and made Austra release a bunch of countries. Try to make a nice empire with nice borders, just do it slow and gradual otherwise you'll end up weaker in the long run, unless you go absolute all out World Conqueror.

France seems to be fairly strong after WW2 ends. Germany beefs up your industry and once you get liberated you have shit loads of it, you also get up to date techs. The only bad thing is that you don't get all that much manpower. [t]http://i.cubeupload.com/YrHTCi.jpg[/t] Also whenever I play it seems like the Soviets dominate everything and the allies only end up with the far west of Europe. Also that 215 industry is with no lend-lease. Oh and you start out with a shittastic officer ratio.
After playing Darkest Hour so much, I can't go back to HOI3. One thing that bugs me is the map, which is why I'm glad they're using a modded Victoria 2 map for EvW
I really just don't see what is wrong with the map, many of my other friends have bugged me about how terrible it is and I really just don't see what is wrong with it. I mean sure how the soviets are occupying everything instead of annexing it is slightly ugly but still I don't find anything wrong with it. I guess I'm just not very picky when it comes to aesthetics.
I did a France ->GiE -> Liberation game in FTM and it was helluva fun. I made it as far as Berlin with the help of American expeditionary forces by '43-'44 or so. I didn't face much resistance since the Germans got wrecked hard fending off the Soviets. At one point, I started facing Hungarian and Finnish divisions rather than the Wehrmacht itself. :v:
Nothing to do with the mechanics of the game, but the art of the map its self, it just looks horrible. Its less detail, the proportions are wrong in some areas, the Americas are at some weird angle. It just feels off. [editline]12th February 2013[/editline] Look at the HOI3 America's Compared to the Victoria 2 Americas
HOI3 Americas compared to HOI3 Americas. What? Those maps are at different projections. If anything, the one on top is the correct projection, as the one on bottom is horribly distorted because it's a stupid outdated Mercator projection.

The Victoria 2 map (the bottom one) is a lot more detailed.
