you should go into the localization files and rename Turkey to Ottoman Empire for future screenshots.
By taking all their VP points in Africa, the Middle East, and their homeland they surrendered and I had a bunch of wargoals on them, one of which was to puppet them.

Also Germany hasn't declared war on anyone yet. the Czechs for some reason attacked Germany and then the UK joined in and once we invaded the UK the Soviets were like nope fuck that and attacked Germany.

It gives some European countries batshit insane modifiers. Castille can form Spain almost instantly, and every Balkan country's stats are some of the most OP stats in the game just so they can defeat the Ottomans.
I dunno what other mod to use, I don't like MEIOU because it's way too "heavy" of a mod and runs very slow and changes the game way too much.
MiscMods and DAO on the other hand aren't heavy enough. Only one I can find that fits my liking in amount of content is D&T.

One notable thing I liked was about it is the option to enable restraints on the AI, so it ensures more plausible borders without taking territory they have a lacking CB on.

Victoria 2\localisation folder, edit 1.1.csv with a text editor and change line 17 from
USA_democracy;The USA;États-Unis;USA;;EE UU;;;;;;;;;x
to

Editing Localization does not effect the checksum.

you could just be a small nation like Haiti or Switzerland, though with the FOW would be hard to see any troop movements.
