[QUOTE=kamikaze470;39675082]NGF is getting on my nerves in my French game. I cannot risk going into a single war without them pouncing on me at every chance they get. Oh, you're assisting Italy in their war against Austria-Hungary? WELL FUCK YOU. Trying to invade Mexico? HAHA TIME FOR WAR.[/QUOTE]
Everybody fucking hates france, simply because it isn't really a huge colonial empire with a ton of spheres like the UK, so it isn't untouchable, but it still wields a huge chunk of europe, so it is a threat.
Right, So I need some help.
I wish to buy a paradox interactive game. However, I have no idea where to start.
I looked around, and found I liked Hearts Of Iron 3's combat system, lots of options, and a damn lot of areas.
But then I found out about how long the game goes for. sure, it'd be very fun, but I'd like a game where I can play and get interested with long spastic games that differ from history at day, Then settling down and watching history fold out at night, maybe even throwing in a few wars into the mix and watching shit go to hell.
The ideal time area would be the 1400s or so to the 1900s. To be honest, I'd be okay with a mod, but a game developed by paradox would be better. It doesn't matter how much it costs as long as it is within the 20-60$ price range.
.... :words: But really. I'd love some help. Anyway, thanks.
hoi3 is a long game. even though it's only done over a period of about a decade, the time increments in hours instead of days. also, you will probably spend most of your time at half speed once you are actually in the war so it will go by a lot more slowly.
if you want a century spanning game from the 1400s, get eu3. but hoi3 is unbeatable as far as warfare goes.

Right, I've bought HoI3 and I'm wondering, since I'd rather see how this pans out, how the hell do you do that kind of spectator mode? I've seen ones where people can see everything that's going on, with all units and stuff. How does that work?
Okay so around 12:30 EST I will host another game.
Disagree for HoI 3, You will need SemFi, FTM, and TFH.
Agree for Vicky 2 AHD
and Box for EUIII.
I will set up as many Himachi rooms as I need to connect us all.
1st will be FPGame1 Pass FP
2nd will be FPGame2 Pass also FP.
I'll update this if I need to.
[editline]22nd February 2013[/editline]
Just FYI, I'm going to make this game go as long as I possibly can. Lets see if we can make it to 1936.
We kind of arranged it for Victoria 2, so there's that. Anyone that's up for joining fire up Hamachi and join FPland; pass should be fp
We doing anything Saturday? Huurs of urrn again?
Sweeet, in East Vs. West, if you have a long range weapons on a naval ship, you can attack enemies in adjacent provinces if you can see them.
Okay FPGame1 is now up, join da himachi
[editline]22nd February 2013[/editline]
1st Himach is now full, if ya still wana play, join FPGame2 pass still FP
[editline]22nd February 2013[/editline]
Starting in 10 mins.
For some reason Satan joined our game and fucked shit up. The entire match started lagging and all of a sudden one by one nations went bankrupted as all the money went to japan.
Then we crashed.
I gotta go to work, Maybe HoI3 or somthing later.
Saturday Afternoon (Late night for Europeans) HoI3 game, I guess?
I'll attempt to host.
I'd play HOI3 but its the only paradox game I never bothered to properly learn. :C

Aww, come on, CK 2 is great! Fallen Enchantress is ok, Magicka is great, and Dungeonland is pretty fun.

I'd be up for some Magicka.

The combat system is too overwhelming even if you completely understand how combat works there is just too much going on at once to control it all at a decent speed.
So is March of Eagles a buy or a pass, the demo came off to me as the game being pretty simple and something that I wouldn't replay very much after a few goes unlike every other Paradox game.

You're pretty much describing Europa Universalis III right there. It's not as combat focused as HoI3- no game is- but it's pretty much THE game to play if you want moments of "Wait wait wait, Europe is NOT supposed to do that."
It doesn't quite go up to 1900 though; it starts in 1399 and ends around the late 1800's, which still gives the world time to fuck up so much, as shown in this picture stolen from /vg/ (Or this thread, I honestly can't remember):

Spectating can only be done proper in CK2 using the "observe" and "fow" commands in console, but every other game has countries that are never really affected by anything throughout the game.
If you want to spectate EUIII, play Japan (Divine Wind only, I believe) If you want to spectate Vicky 2, play Haiti, and if you want to spectate HoI3, play Cuba. You'll have to look up the fog of war command though, because I'm pretty sure it varies per game.

Wenceslaus II would be proud of that Bohemia.
Should try a Crusader Kings game sometime. Doesn't have the combat focus of any of the other games, but it's still good. Make for an interesting game.
CK2 MP bores me to tears. It's so much suited more for SP in my opinion.

It's fun with friends when you aren't as much worried about the game.
You get to say "I'm going to kill your fucking wife and kid" and then do just that using the game mechanics.
and then you get syphilis.
I have a question about Victoria 2.
Should I encourage a focus on craftsmen after building my first factory in order to develop it and get enough personal or should I leave it alone? The economic system of Vic 2 is really deep and complex but does not require my attention at every little detail. What do you guys do? Also is there a way to see if a factory is profitable?
From my understanding you let farmers and the like naturally demote to craftsmen as their RGO's get smaller from technology. In some cases it can be a waste since it can sometimes lead to the more valuable soldier pops demoting to craftsmen as well. You can check the tooptip for factories to see more in-depth about it's financial information; the current budget, how it's selling and buying parts etc.

You have the dlc's for it? I've beaten the base game, the Cthulu one, and the one where you go fight vlad but don't own them. If someone else were to host a game I'd be down for it sometime.

So I'm continuing my Grand Frisia game, I lost my older saves much farther ahead, but now I'm planning on reforming the HRE with a Dutch Aristocracy.
I can't claim HRE right now though; I need Grand Frisia to absorb more de jure territory beforehand. I'm planning on attacking HRE and just ending it in white peace so I can let my son have the claim.

have you ever played a game where you don't blob like a motherfuck
My plan in EvW is to play as Hungary/Bulgaria or other smaller nations.
Get a hold of how the systems in the game work, but still be able to fight if necessary.
[QUOTE=lifehole;39685334]have you ever played a game where you don't blob like a motherfuck[/QUOTE]
I'm planning on releasing a majority of Kingdoms once I have them under Dutch control.
It doesn't help though that my only grandson is now heir to the Byzantine Throne...
blobbing more than an american at mcdonalds
