No 2 games of EU3 are the same so try to do something different because trying to replicate the same thing just won't work.
Eh I prefer playing Netherlands regardless, I do plan on something completely different this game I want to take over the holy Roman empire and move eastwards instead of focusing on colonisation like last time.
Just a quick question, I really want Crusader Kings 2 but my experience with Paradox games haven't been that well; that is Hearts of Iron 2 was a nightmare, it was as if Dwarf Fortress took steroids and had a thousand more options and I was just turned off by the overall UI of things. Is Crusader Kings 2 any better or rather, more user friendly than HOI2?

Keeping track of certain things can be a fucking bitch in CK2 because of the lack of easy to get information. For example, have fun trying to find unmarried princesses or daughters because you will need to click many times to move around the screens. The way it is laid out could stand significant improvement. However, the game itself is a lot simpler than HOI3. Warfare is a breeze, building is fairly simplistic, and economics is very straight forward. [editline]10th June 2012[/editline] Oh, you're talking about HOI2. What? HOI2 is incredibly user friendly and simple. Anyways, CK2 might be more user friendly. It might not be, though, I've never really compared the two.

I don't even understand industry and such.
HOI2 is user friendly; what? I don't even understand industry and such.
Industry is easy. Each industry produces 1 IC. You can increase IC percentage by technology, sliders, and ministers. http://www.paradoxian.org/hoi2wiki/index.php/Main_Page Read through this. HOI2 is actually amazingly simple once you get used to it.
Far more user friendly than HOI2.
To the people who disagree what are you having trouble with? :v:
To the people who disagree what are you having trouble with? :v:
CK2's interface is fucking ass sometimes. It should be easier to find people by dynasty, lineage, and realm.
In concerning with other people's Dynasties, yeah it's a pain in the ass. But for finding your own it's fairly easy.
I tried the HOI3 demo and the micromanagement is fucking insane. I mean, I love the massive scale, is HOI3 worth getting or should I get the second one?
I hate it in CK2 when I'm trying to transfer vassalage of a city/temple to one of my dukes, but the vassal transferrer doesn't show the vassals that the duke wants at the top of the list. So I have to click on the province and find the vassal, then find what the leader of that vassalage is, then use that in the vassal transferrer to find the person I'm looking for.
Played a bit of Argentina in the AHD expansion after I got it recently. Jesus Christ, industry micromanagement during mid-late endgame is so dauntingly frustrating. I mean I'm used to micromanaging massive fronts in Hoi3 without resorting to AI control, but this shit is is plain hard. :v: One moment my economy is doing fairly well, and the next I'm in some massive depression and unemployment skyrockets out of orbit. I just don't understand this game sometimes.

I mean, I love the massive scale, is HOI3 worth getting or should I get the second one?
If you like giant warfare, HoI3 is your game. HoI2 I haven't really played enough but the provinces are gigantic so it's easier.
IMO HoI3's micromanagment gets pretty easy once you figure out how to properly sort out units and use maneuvers to make sure they don't run out of supplies or get encircled. Of course, there's the odd couple of countries with a massive number of divisions that would be absolutely sick to micromanage 100% of the time, but that's what AI control is for.
So me and my friend decided to play a multiplayer match of Europa Universalis III. All went well aside from this little incident: Brittany, who was at war with my friend, decided to attack one of my ports... [editline]10th June 2012[/editline] Also I got Papacy over England (My friend) somehow. It was 20% for him and 4% to me.

I mean, I love the massive scale, is HOI3 worth getting or should I get the second one?
HOI3 is fucking insane. Micromanagement of armies is absolutely terrifying. If you get used to it, it is an amazing game. HOI2 is a whole lot simpler. The HQ system is fucking easy to work with since you only need 1 HQ that will affect combat in all provinces adjacent to it. You don't need to attach HQs and create army groups and corps and stupid shit like that. Everything is easier to manage, but you will find the system lacking if you have played HOI3 for a long time. Basically, when you get used to HOI3, it's a complete improvement over 2, but 2 is a whole lot easier.
I never used HQs in HOI2, it was easy to just standardize armies (9 divisions, I think?). For example armored x 9, infantry x 6 and armored x3, etc. Then you can swing them around as necessary and use the panzers to punch through enemy lines and things. I really liked HOI2's army system, actually, once I got used to it. I still don't command shit by myself in HOI3 because it is just so ridiculous and I really haven't learned it.

An infantry corp contained 4x infantry + art, a armored corp contained 3x armor and 1 mot + SPA, etc. But dude, you should have used HQs. You get a stacking penalty after 12 divisions, but with an HQ it doubled the limit to 24. Plus is doubled all your battle event chances, so if you had a 10% encirclement chance, it would go up to 20%. HQs were fucking amazing and could give you a very distinct advantage if you used HQs and denied the enemy their HQs(by bombing or w/e).
Well uh... fuck I didn't know that Germany still stomps the world
So I just got the game and then I decided to play Denmark. Thinking I hold off the entire German reich at a bottleneck. I started to focus a lot on getting militia weapons and upgrades because that was the little 'boost' that denmark provided in the theoretical and practical fields. So when the inevitable came, they started to attack. I built forts along the border and I even made AA, Artillery and Anti-tank units and posted them in the region. Now what the Hell?! The battle was 50/50 for few good moments and my brigades were constantly steadied by the flow of reinforcements. All of a sudden they just decided to say 'fuck it' rout and retreat. I end up losing the entire peninsula with in a day because German infantrymen can take on my light tanks. Also, what is that number with the green/red arrow?
So playing the GoT mod for CK2, after 9 generations the Targaryens have finally managed to reclaim the Iron Throne after being banished to one awful little province in the Crownlands. And now I have one big mess of a fractured Westeros to try and reunite. Each of the Lords Paramount have declared independence, so it's not going to be easy, especially as the Vale is tossing around armies up to 100,000 men strong. And I know the others are even worse. Also managed to solve the problem of my branch of the family having black hair (blame that dirty Baratheon that we married into the family) by some good old fashioned Hapsburg-approved cousin marrying.

Organization is how long your men will fight and militia fight at a severe organizational disadvantage. Once Org goes to 0, that unit stops fighting. The arrow shows the balance of power in the battle. The number is basically a percentage and the color represents what direction. If it is green arrow that shows the number 60, that means the battle is favoring your army 60% at this time. If it's red and 60, it means that the battle is favoring the enemy 60% at this time. Yellow basically means there is no clear advantage at that point in time.

The german forces won't have time to dig in and are already weakened from the battle.

You always need those reserves whenever you go into a defensive phase. I used to make the mistake of putting all my troops on the front lines until I learned how absolutely ineffective it is. One breakthrough and you're toast.

In HoI3 they just slowly move one province at a time and immediately retreat like fucktons of divisions if I even dare to put more than 3 divisions in one province next to them. [editline]11th June 2012[/editline] My blitzkrieg strategy has tank and motorized infantry divisions punch throught and go as far as possible with infantry divisions following up and keeping the supplylines clear. The A.I always goes in complete panicmode, and starts moving divisions from even the most fortified positions.

Yeah the lag at this point of the game is unbearable sometimes. I have to exit out of the game every few hours to get rid of the lag, but even then it still persists every now and then.
I am damned sure that Austria is fucked now. Their king is excommunicated, the entire country is Protestant (Despite the ruler being Catholic). I took over their vassals, made them give up Karnten to me, the country is infested with rebels and France just declared war on them and sent about 20,000 men to besiege Southern Austria. It can't survive this for sure.
I love reading AAR (after-action reports) On the official forums where they try to write them as a detailed story.
