Just conquered all of the Irish lands in CK:DV, and became King of Ireland. Doing pretty good. Planning on getting an English lord to swear fealty to me. And this one Duke between Scotland and England is at war with them both since he wants to be independant.

I finally defeated them, captured the island, then waited YEARS (literally up into the 1500s) just to get my infamy low enough to annex them, which I finally did. Then I took a lot of Provinces from the Hansa but had to cede some northern provinces from the Tuetonic Order to avoid unlawful Imperial Territory. However, I still kept my UITs in Germany, prompting the Emperor to get very angry. The good news is that I had planned out my strategy. I tipped the 50/50 vote in favor of Bohemia in the last election because Bohemia was really tiny by this point, meaning their army, though increased, was still smaller than mine. Now I'm not afraid of them and will probably annex them at earliest convenience. If I get the seat as Emperor, it is likely I will just dissolve the HRE instead. It is doing far more harm than good. CK2, 1180s. My son who was a chaplain, decided to read the bible for himself one day and became a Lollard. I decided to convert, and now my capital is the root of Lollard heresey. I do not worry too much about foreign invaders at the moment, for the Spanish in Spain are being pushed out and converted to Islam. England became Waldensian, and is now waging constant holy wars with Wales and Scotland. The former is barely strong enough to hold off England, and the latter is barely able to hold itself together and beat off the English, leaving me to run Ireland by myself. I can easily crush rebellions, as my castles have become insanely upgraded and provide fucktons of troops. All my vassals own mere baronies, making it difficult for them to revolt. Lollards shall prevail. It's good to be the king.

I answered their call to arms to go to war with France. Low an behold, shit got to rough for them and they decided on white peace, leaving me with a -19% warscore (France had won many Naval Battles. I had only a few years to prep the navy after Pommerania became core) and now I'm stuck in a terrible war. They have some insane General who is like Patton, Napoleon, and Sun Tzu combined into one being who wipes out thousands of my men with only losing, eh, 300 or so. Thankfully, France has a hard time getting troops to the front at my country, as the lack military access to most of Europe (and everytime they do, I still manage to fuck their shit up. Well, at least until that General came along) Bottom-line: Don't trust HRE countries. They will ALL betray you.

Apparently 6 shock generals can annihilate whole armies in a single battle now or some shit like that.

I only had "1 Shock" and "1 Fire" from my generals.

Question, how does one lose courtiers in the original Crusader Kings? Give them titles and lands?

I never understood how the assassination success percentage doesn't go up when I imprison somebody in CK2.

Are there any mods for HOI2 that add new nations?

With OPMs, you have to be very careful with what wars you want to fight.

Just how can you cock-up so badly?[/QUOTE] Think of it like Far Cry 2, the assassin is an independent worker who happens to be working for you under contract, but it's a covert operation so the employer's soldiers aren't aware that the assassin's working for the employer.

Can anyone provide me with a decent tutorial/guide for HoI2? I watched LPs and read AARs but still I am terrible at the game. Most LPs sucked though.

General mostly, also perhaps about how to attack certain provinces.

What do you mean "attack certain provinces"? Are you having trouble going through urban areas? Those should generally be bypassed and surrounded. Mountains are also difficult to attack through, and you should check beforehand instead of recklessly sending, for example, armored units in.

So my Irish play-through is going pretty average. My wife who I loved very dearly was assassinated so I remarried...a daughter of the Kaiser of the HRE. I'm thinking of declaring war on a majority of the Muslim nations where Spain is and with backup from the Kaiser hopefully manage to take some serious land. At the moment, my former ally, France, is trying to bring some civility to these heretical heathens. I'm trying to re-ally with France but they don't have any Princes or Princesses who are not married. >:(

Mountains use mountain infantry with art, and make sure that you DON'T use armor. For everything else follow your general battle strategy. Also use tacs and cas for interdiction whenever you are attacking. It actually makes a big difference. Once troops are retreating, switch to ground attack since retreating troops suffer huge losses from ground attack. I've destroyed whole armies by using ground attacks on retreating enemies. [editline]24th June 2012[/editline] Also, don't forget about paratroopers. They are incredibly situational, but can provide a huge advantage if properly utilized.
