Patrol with destroyers among the convoy route if you think it's a submarine problem. Naval bombers can be another option, they're great at wrecking str/org of subs.
Well I managed to get my destroyers, but their subs are busting my balls since I'm running low on man-power. They're sort of protected, but I lose a ship every 2 or 3 trips.
So I played as Dublin to try and see how fast I could unite ireland. Took me an hour and in game time was 1100. Most of that was waiting for things like truces and false claims to go through. [editline]8th August 2012[/editline] Oh and there was a fucking crusade and I had to assist in that and I couldnt attack anyone because of that. But after kingdom of ireland was created, only Connacht wanted to be free. [editline]8th August 2012[/editline] Jerusalem is french in this game.
IIRC French was the primary language of the Kingdom of Jerusalem at the time (or at least of the nobility), and the kings of Jerusalem were all french.
That's an awesome coincidence. I had to participate because of them threatening me with excommunication and I basically just sat and did nothing while watching the fighting. Like thirty thousand guys died just from getting off the boat and being swarmed by a 13000 death stack.
30,000? Whoa, it'd be a miracle if I even see a Catholic army that surpassed 10,000 by 1200.
I'm surprised that the papal territories in the Holy Land are still standing in my save, although Fatimids and the Arab sultanates and caliphates have imploded multiple times, creating a ton of sheikdoms around the Papal provinces next to Jerusalem(which allowed me to take two counties from Fatimids in today's South Albania!). However, I'm also extremely scared of the upcoming Mongol situation(which is apparently in 1218, and it's October '14 now) and while there are about two-ish Muslim sheikdoms, Cumania, slightly botched Rus, Georgia, Cheremisa's borderlands and Norway's Caspian Colony holding the ground between Croatia, Hungary and Byzantine Poland, Salid is reaching the end of his lifetime and I have to make sure that nobody starts throwing kingdom claims around or declares independence, especially in Sicily and Spain. [editline]8th August 2012[/editline]
30,000? Whoa, it'd be a miracle if I even see a Catholic army that surpassed 10,000 by 1200.
HRE dragged it's 15k doomstacks along my border a couple of times. The Papacy also used large stacks and I managed to make two 20k's in the Sicilian Campaign by combining Croat levies with the Holy Orders and the mercs.
Well. It was literally every catholic nation in Europe sending their armies. I actually took over ireland easier because of that, since the other guys were transporting their guys by boat by the time I had the siegeworks set up on their castles. [editline]8th August 2012[/editline]
Russia and England went to war with France over the "French Containment of Britain" England and Russia both had to release puppets and vassals and now they are all split. I'm the 2nd greatest power in the world now after i westernized. I've got barely a military and hardly any factories.
That's actually inspired me to start a game as Russia, and split off all the territories and play the game as Alaska.
Speak of the god damn Devil!
New game getting announced today.
Oh sweet mama I hope Project Truman ends up being Rome 2. [editline]10th August 2012[/editline] or EU IV
Oh sweet mama I hope Project Truman ends up being Rome 2. [editline]10th August 2012[/editline] or EU IV
Maybe something new would be cool too. Something pre-medieval perhaps, like a roman empire game. Something post HoI would be interesting too, like... a new age of colonization, spreading through the solar system, competing for each planet by taking it in chunks through colonization, then later war.
New game getting announced today.
When, specifically? And where?
New game was confirmed as EUIV.
:O I wonder how many expansions we'll have to wait until it's decently playable.
http://kotaku.com/europa-universalis-iv/ Good news> More unique events. Expansive tutorial.
Am I the only one who thought the HoI3 tutorial was totally useless?
I really hope they take liberties with it and make shit up. Things corresponding to having certain countries in odd places, everyone having colonies, weird shit happening and the game has such a wealth that it can adapt around it. It's so disappointing to play as a tiny nation like Ethiopia and get completely shafted with the events and decisions because you're not a important enough.
Every Paradox tutorial is shit. If you want to learn how to play, then you'll need to play the actual game to get the grasp of things.

I got 2 feet into the USSR before I got my shit-smacked.
I hope the War of The Roses beta will start soon, wasn't it supposed to start this week? I got an email confirming my access a few days ago.
are there any good tutorials for hoi out there [editline]10th August 2012[/editline] i have no idea what i'm doing
http://kotaku.com/europa-universalis-iv/ Good news> More unique events. Expansive tutorial.
But wait- there's more!
But why did they use the EU3 theme for this? [editline]10th August 2012[/editline] On the second thought it's pretty awesome, so that's why.
Anybody got recommendations for where I should start as a custom Count? Holy Roman Empire (specifically Gelre) looks interesting, although there's the hassle of challenging the Emperor once I finally get to a sufficiently large Dukedom. Furthermore, what traits should I be aiming to stack on when designing a character?
But wait- there's more!
that is one sexy world map and seasonal weather, omg
Hopefully I will be able to understand how to play it this time round.
So, uh... [T]http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/596978507451727277/0D359C1892864027C629684B2582225B03859D71/[/T] War is on. Recommend you click it for full size so you can better see how many mens' lives are at stake here.
With the announcement of EUIV I think I am going to attempt to learn CK2.
With the announcement of EUIV I think I am going to attempt to learn CK2.
Up until sometime between 1100-1150 it's pretty confusing for a first timer, but at that time you experience just about every game feature and it gets relatively simple and pretty fun, although some parts are a little repetitive(people plotting against each other, holy wars against holy wars etc.). Also the game tends to start a sudden game changer with the Hordes.
But why did they use the EU3 theme for this? [editline]10th August 2012[/editline] On the second thought it's pretty awesome, so that's why.
Because the music for EU3 probably hasn't been composed yet.

Also why can't I form any empire yet? [img_thumb]http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/918985880796923194/46047DA65CE86A0544585B92FA94D95E43009DF4/[/img_thumb]
